Family friendly restaurant recommendations (feat. picky eaters)?

I’m looking for family friendly restaurant recommendations in the area to take my family to during fall break (dates include a Mon/Tues which I know a lot of places can be closed on!). My kids are 6 and 1 and my older is extremely picky so the menu must include at least one soup OR pasta option😅

All said, I don’t want to take them somewhere too out of their comfort zone, but would like explore the local scene while avoiding a chain.

Looking forward to exploring all South Bend has to offer, thanks in advance!!

Wedding dress alterations

Hi!

I am new to the area and looking for recommendations on a seamstress/tailor. I have a wedding dress that needs to be altered (taken in, hem, bustle) by the end of December. I'm willing to travel anywhere in the Michiana area.

TIA!

Track training partners?

Post collegiate sprinter/jumper here (26F), very tired of doing track workouts solo. Wondering if anyone would be interested in getting together as a group to do sprinter style workouts, not necessarily to compete, but just to stay in shape. Or am I just destined to become a jogger/long distance person?

Can anyone tell me about Clay International Academy? All of the reviews are from students from what I am seeing? Dickson Fine Arts Academy? Navarre? We are looking at houses and moving from out of state.

Anyone know what's going on at the Fairgrounds today? Traffic on York Rd is kinda crazy for the last hour. I though Boo Bash was only Friday and Saturday...

South Bend Gun Club/Shooting Ranges in the area

Looking for a place to shoot. That simple really. Wanting to teach my significant other how to handle a firearm and my young girls are interested in learning how to shoot a single shot rifle.

Google searches don't reveal much as far as open clubs/businesses. There are a couple solid spots across the border in Michigan but Michigan laws hinder a few things and not interested in public indoor ranges.

I suspect most people shoot on private property or with private clubs. I'm located on the west side by the airport and would be open to private sites if anyone wants to shoot me a DM. Thanks all.

South Bend I know there's some deep high school rivalry here...but let's all rally for Riley!

Hey Hoosiers! I'm a student at Riley high school in South Bend. We are the only Indiana school left and are now competing for 250,000 and the grand prize of 1 million dollars to improve our school and their athletic capabilities.

Past winners of the grand prize were able to come together and rally their whole states.

This is a small first step, but we are really hoping for your support. This would be life-changing for not only Riley but the whole South Bend area. It would be a stadium renovation, a new weight room, and valued at over 1 million dollars. I'm not a football player, I'm a swimmer and a marching band member, but this could improve every single student at Riley's life.

Supporters can vote for the Wildcats once per day from Oct. 8-25. VOTE FOR RILEY HERE!!!

This is a statement from my principal, Shawn Henderson, who is one of the best principals a person could ask for. "We compete everyday, week and year. I am asking you as teammates to vote for Riley High School in the T-Mobile Friday Nights 5G Lights. Riley High School is the only IHSAA school and the only school in the state of Indiana out of 40 nationwide left in competition. Please vote for Riley High School daily at the link below. GO

CATS!"

Last year we didn't make it to the semifinals, but this year is our year with your support. You can also find Riley on Facebook and Instagram.

Please, as a fellow hoosier, help a girl out. I implore you to vote!

I know things in Indiana are rough right now, but this is a bright spot!

Edit: had the wrong link

I know some of y'all went to Adams, Washington, LaSalle, Jackson, Clay, maybe even Penn. But this is a huge opportunity. The past schools that one that 1 million had to rally their whole state. This is my small start. Thank you!

Cheap Pokemon cards

My kids recently got into Pokemon and they love collecting cards. We go to Disc Replay and they have fun doing the 10/$1 deal. Was wondering if there was anywhere else that sells common cards for cheap?

I saw some past posts, but the most recent was 2 years ago so I was hoping for some more current information.

I'm looking to get out and play. Was curious where the best open mics are around South Bend/Niles.

I've got this awesome gaming event on Saturday

Langlab (that's 1302 High Street), 4pm to Midnight. Retro systems and couches, tabletop games, food, etc etc. There's a fifteen dollar cover I think, but that's soft if you're struggling to make ends meet.

It's our second time hosting this event at this venue, and the first time was a dream come true. We got some new stuff for this round.

I just finished setting up 5 ps3s with Gran Turismo 5, 5 screens, bucket seat, steering wheel, pedals, and a network switch - for a beautiful panoramic racing sim.

I've been working on an 8-system Xbox 360 LAN running Halo Reach. It's nearly there. Might need some more controllers - bring some if ya got 'em.

But that's just my corner of the event. There's going to be Mario Kart Live, lots of retro systems (many on old CRTs), some modern gaming systems, events on a mainstage (Guitar Hero!), there's food (A hot dog bar, if I understand rightly), Silent Disco, a Free Roam VR (I think this costs a couple bucks to play but everything else is gratis), and free play in the Arcade, including several beautiful Pinball titles.

Anyhow. I've been tearing down, cleaning, repairing and reassembling systems and controllers for literally weeks now. I'll see ya there :)

South Bend Best furniture stores in the bend area

Was going to purchase furniture online. What I was looking at is on backorder. Heard too many horror stories about Ashley furniture. What I'm looking to get is 2 upright dressers, 2 rocker recliner chairs and an oversized chair. What are the good stores around here that offer delivery and setup services, and have the items in stock? Thanks!

He signed an extension in December, but the board says “they knew Eid was only temporarily taking the role”.

Another bumbling mistake by SBCSC funded by taxpayers.

Wonder if we’re still giving Todd Cummings a check? Did Eid put an end to SBCSC’s widespread grade manipulation policy? Did we ever get an accurate graduation rate from them?

2026 November Midterm Election: Public Questions & Judges

Thumbnail sjcindiana.gov

Hey r/SouthBend! Can anyone provide insight into the Public Questions and Judicial Retention portion of the 2026 Midterm ballot?

The Public Questions may seem straightforward but I know these can be worded in a way where one would think they make sense when, in fact, there's an underlying racial and/or socioeconomic bias.

As for the Judges, I'm looking to retain those that protect civil, LGBTQ+, and women's rights among other traditional progressive causes.

Linked a sample ballot for reference.

Thank you!
