What About Jerry Ford?

Perhaps because President Ford was never hit.

But he was a target on two separate occasions by two women in September 1975, in California. The first was a Manson cult member, the second an FBI informant turned left-wing activist.

Do they really think Kirk would stand side by side with MLK? Kirk, the guy who said black pilots arent qualified and the civil rights movement was a mistake? Get real

Because of DEI. Business were given incentives if they met with certain diversity quotas. Businesses wanted to get these federal insensitive. Problem is for certain jobs there just not that much diversity since not eveyone wants said job. So understaffing became a problem. To help remedy this lowering their standards became a thing.

lowering their standards

Proven time and time again that this is not what happened.

I know you know it was about a pilot SCHOOL, not actual pilots. I know you know the difference between equality of opportunity (what United did) vs. equality of outcome (what you're claiming).

I know you KNOW these things, but you choose to continue to peddle the idea that black people in a job must mean the standards are lower. And i'm not even going to entertain that idea, backwards as it is lol

No, united airlines announced that they vowed to have 50% women or poc for pilots. Kirk says that’s not meritocracy and he doesn’t want to have to think that they are under-qualified because this policy would lower standards.

a goal, not a hard mandate, to have 50% in their pilot SCHOOL program, as in give them training not necessarily becoming actual pilots. They were very clear that the standards did not change one iota, but you guys heard black pilots and assumed standards were lowered. You guys have twisted the truth so much youre getting your wires crossed here, and if you cant have a conversation without lying, theres no point in having one

You have twisted the truth. They vowed to train and hire 50% based on sex and skin color. Any practice other than hiring the best qualified people for the job is a decrease in standards.

You seem to not understand the difference between equality of outcome and equality of opportunity.

Yes I understand the difference very well. You cannot have both equal opportunity (equality) and equal outcome (equity). If United wanted to increase certain demographics of who they accept into their training program from 15% to 50%, they would have to decrease qualifications based on sex and race. Similar to how Harvard had different score requirements based on race, which the Supreme Court ruled violates the 14th amendment. Both of these are equity not equality. United also vowed they would meet the same quota in hiring. Again this is equity not equality.

decrease qualifications based on sex and race

This is where we will never see eye to eye. You think that certain sexes and races intrinsically are less qualified. Something that's only ever been posited by racial purists, and has been debunked time and time and time again.

No I don’t think certain races are less qualified. Certain demographics lean toward different pursuits. Hence why only 15% in the pilot programs are women or poc. Another Kirk example on this topic: do you think if an nba team put a quota that 50% of their player must be white would be better than if they only chose players on talent and merit?

"they would have to decrease qualifications based on sex and race"

I am constantly astounded that so many Americans still believe in physiognomy and shit like what you're claiming... they disproved that pseudoscience like 100 years ago bud, skin colour has literally zero bearing on someone's intelligence

Never said it did. When you try to increase a percentage based on certain demographics one would have to decrease qualifications for said demographics. Just like Harvard did when they lowered required test scores for certain races and increased the test requirements for other races, it was deemed a violation of the 14th amendment by the Supreme Court. Different demographics chose different pursuits. Like if a certain demographic is 15% of the applications but a company chooses to hire 50% of said demographic, they are not hiring based on merit. If an NBA team chose ahead of time to have 50% of their players be white, would they be a better team than if they recruited their players on skill and merit alone?

Hold the fuck up. What federal incentives were offered for private business DEI programs? That never happened dude

u/36Gig 10h ago

You're right these insensitive were only for federal jobs. So why is there lawsuits still on going for airlines since they weren't accapting people who were qualified?

1

u/OftenTriggered 9h ago

Because SCOTUS ruled a long time ago that diversity quotas used in hiring is unconstitutional, but some businesses push hard for more diverse hires. Not technically illegal in most cases, but less subtle practices could be exposed in discovery (e.g., emails or communication saying they are hiring a minority candidate that is less qualified) which could uncover discriminatory hiring practices

1

u/36Gig 7h ago

Yeah. But these insensitive were more so a bonus, not a requirement. Essentially a loop hole that got axed in the current administration.

Went would they have to lower their standards? Why wouldn't there be qualified black pilots? Ridiculous.

What standards were lowered? Be specific. What EXACTLY was changed to lower standards?

Also, what incentive programs. Please be specific.

1

u/MoThrowMoAway 9h ago

They cannot be specific, because the standards have only gotten HIGHER with all airlines the past 30 years or so with new aviation standards and guidelines. Not once, ever, have they lowered standards, and this is something you can see, empirically.

These people genuinely operate under the assumption that because black, that means bad. I feel pity for them, having grown up in such ignorance that they see the world through that kind of filter. I dont hate them, I just pity them.
