Perhaps because President Ford was never hit.

But he was a target on two separate occasions by two women in September 1975, in California. The first was a Manson cult member, the second an FBI informant turned left-wing activist.

My friend, I love the energy, and I hope one day this really does come to pass, but you're not just fighting the same system that's been in place for ages. You're fighting the same people my generation has been fighting for 30-40 years now, and you got a whole lot more people behind them that are going to block any change to the status quo every step of the way, for as long as they can.

Absolutely, fight the good fight, and make change where you can. But don't think it's dead yet. Those ancient SOBs are not going to give way easily. They've basically got the walking fucking dead running the show, and that's going to keep happening longer than you think. My generation thought we could win the numbers game, too, and, well, it didn't work that way. And over time, an awful lot of disillusioned people went over to propagating a lot of the same shit we had been trying to stop when we were younger.

I'm not trying to talk you out of your beliefs. I'm just trying to give you a head's up that it's probably going to be a longer road than you think.
