TIL that the ‘high’ from gambling isn’t connected to winning - the dopamine rush peaks at exactly 50:50 probability. Gamblers get a rush when the roulette wheel is spinning but their pleasure is largely unaffected whether they win or lose.

Same as the "seven year itch" and people cheating on their partner with someone less attractive that they don't actually like just to "feel something"

Isn't this also because of insecurity and trying to prove themselves? "Hey, I still got it, I'm still attractive!".

And people could always lie to themselves about how objectively attractive someone else is. They likely get more attractive (in their eyes) simply because it's cheating and forbidden.

Well most people are married to people they don't even like so of course that will run its course once the initial lust is over.

Humans aren't even really wired to be monogamous but the rules of society and The Good Book tell us different.
