You can vote in B.C.’s upcoming provincial election if you are:
- a Canadian citizen,

Where to Vote in the Provincial Election
Advance voting is open in locations across the province on between October 16-21 | 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (local time). You don’t need a special reason to vote at advance voting. It’s an option for all eligible voters. Voters can vote at any advance voting place in the province, and all advance voting places are wheelchair accessible.
Make sure to check your Where to Vote card or visit wheretovote.elections.bc.ca to find voting places and the dates they are open.

Candidate AMAs & Past and Present AMA List
Vancouver mayoral candidates, council candidates, and Provincial election candidates are welcome to reach out via modmail to arrange a verified AMA. Candidates from other locations are welcome to contact the team and request a crosspost of their AMA from a city-specific subreddit, depending on demand (mayoral candidates and Provincial election candidates only).
We welcome all political affiliations as long as our rules are respected. AMAs held on the sub are capped at one per weekday, and capacity is limited. First come, first served. Review our guide on AMAs and then reach out to the mod team to verify your account and arrange a time.

I am so ready to wipe that smug grin off Ken Sim's face.

Need a Vancouver Mayor Mamdani stat, please.

I don't think anyone fits the bill this time around, but at least we can get rid of Sim.

Who is the closets to that?

u/DoTheManeuver 20d ago
The closest is Pete Fry, but he's not really got the energy of Mamdami. At least he's calling out ABC on their plebiscite questions.

u/TakaraGeneration 20d ago
This is what I am thinking, would he be a legit contender? I want to make my vote count and want Sim out!

u/DoTheManeuver 20d ago
He's the leading contender at this point. The left leaning parties have at least agreed to only field one mayoral candidate.

That dickhead came into a pub where I was hanging out with friends, took microphone and started campaigning. Was so loud we couldn't talk and had to leave.

Has anyone else gotten a letter from ABC begging you to vote for them? Felt pretty desperate. Curious also how Sim's office decides who to send this letter to; I was the only one at my address to get it.

Plebiscite questions for Vancouver as follows...
"Voters will be asked to answer the following “yes” or “no” questions
Vancouver has experienced unprecedented levels of street disorder, open-air hard drug use, and disruption to community safety and individual health. Therefore,
- Are you in favour of the City of Vancouver strengthening its laws to forbid open-air hard drug (Heroin, Meth, Fentanyl, and Crack) use in public spaces?
- Should the City of Vancouver formally ask the Province of BC to convert portions of the old St. Paul’s Hospital, or another similar site, into a secure medical facility that provides acute voluntary and 100-plus involuntary care beds for individuals posing a serious risk to themselves or others due to severe substance use and mental health disorders?"
Full details here.

Is there a good list of all the candidates and their platforms for the musical election somewhere? I remember some awesome redditors putting commenting like that together last time around.

For multi-unit buildings, if you see a canvasser, please let them in! (It’s harder to reach renters, a demo that votes less than owners, and this is one way to help.)
The law allows canvassing between 9am-9pm:
160.1 (2) The following individuals and organizations must not unreasonably restrict access to residential property by a candidate or an authorized canvasser for the purposes of canvassing electors and distributing candidate information: (a) a housing cooperative or individual acting on behalf of a housing cooperative; (b) a landlord or individual acting on behalf of a landlord; (c) a strata corporation or individual acting on behalf of a strata corporation. [...] (4) Subsection (2) applies from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the campaign period.

Bookmarking that. My building is so obsessed with privacy and security that people were outraged the last time a political canvasser got in.
Edit: seems the section number for that has changed https://www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca/civix/document/id/complete/statreg/96106_10.1

The joys of overlapping elections! We’re both right; my reference was from the Local Government Act, yours for provincial elections.

Makes sense. I copied and pasted the entire section into Google to find that.

Can anyone help me understand what to do in this situation. I’ve moved recently and got mail forwarding. I got my voter information card for the city election but it has my old address. Will they be able to change my address at any voting place? My concern is that my ID address has been changed but the voter card has different address. Thanks!

I just voted in the provincial advance poll and I was in and out in five minutes. They've made it very easy to vote, too! Just bring your voter card and ID, answer some questions, and then you get a ballot that's now machine-readable like the Vancouver ones have been for a while now. Mark your dot and you're done.
They even give you a very nice "I voted" sticker. :)
