Was that Phoebe Thunderman??

10

u/TotallyAwesomeRacoon Sep 15 '26

Yes, Kira Kosarin at the 1:09 timestamp

6

u/kelvSYC Sep 16 '26

Kira Kosarin is listed as a guest star and director for an episode. She's likely going to play a different role, given that Phoebe Thunderman is not known to be artistically inclined, and the fact that the finale to "Clash of the Thundermans" leaves her in a busy position.

Besides, it seems that the general direction of the NSU is to create more separation between the different shows, so that there aren't any gratuitous iCarly or Dangerverse references that imply a common universe. (Given how gratuitous prop reuse from Henry Danger is in Clash of the Thundermans, that might be the exception that proves the rule, though.)

So Robbie still is into Rex stuff.......well some things I guess never change...also Kira Kosarin!!! It's not that much of a surprise as I saw rumors before about her directing one episode and guest starring but it's great to see it confirmed and her on screen as I really like her! Nice to see more of Helen, hope she's gonna be recurring character! Yvette Nicole Brown is a treasure! Also more clearer look on Sofie Dossi. Overall, I dunno for me it looks quite good, cute and fun! Actually really waiting for it! At the beginning of the trailer Emmy says "This school has produced world famous artists" and we have shots on Tori, Andre, Jade and Cat, I don' t personally think this is a coincidence; rather, it's an obvious hint that it wasn't just Tori who became world-famous, yeah I mean, I know it may mean that throught the years some other students (some randos) that attended Hollywod Arts also became world famous, but I think that using flashbacks of OG main characters while she's saying this is intentional.

I reckon if this isn’t a show that gets canceled after season 1, they’ll probably end up showing up at some point for an episode.

2

u/AlexTorres96 Sep 15 '26

So many Nick stars getting to direct episodes isn't something I thought would be common. It does show that directing opportunities is given for those who want to do it.

REX BACK??? (I probably should’ve did a Victorious rewatch this year bc Hollywood Arts 😭)

Also why is Phoebe here 😭😭

6

u/Jane-Blackmoore Jade West 🖤✂️ Sep 15 '26

Kira Kosarin was rumored before to directed an episode and guest star, she is still strongly into nickelodeon things so it's makes sense.

3

u/Epic1ForLife Sep 15 '26

True with the new Thundermans series & movie

9

u/Lumious_Mage Sep 15 '26

"A lot's changed since the 1970s" ☠️

18

u/HyperDogOwner458 Sep 15 '26

I think she said 1900s but yeah

2

u/Lumious_Mage Sep 17 '26

Oh yeah I hear it now lol

6

u/CourtneyGwen Sep 15 '26

I mean, she is JEN Z indeed!

7

u/J_larry Sep 15 '26

I will not get over that name lol

8

u/No-String-5639 Sep 15 '26

the lighting is atrocious but otherwise it looks promising

7

u/Epic1ForLife Sep 15 '26

Another reply but my fear with the outside scenes came true 😭 still excited for the show though

11

u/jersace Sep 15 '26

The background composite on this shot isn't bad, but yeahhh the lighting is way too harsh to look natural, and I assume they can't pull off those wide crane shots like they used to 😞 still a decent recreation!

7

u/MC2400 Sep 15 '26

The difference is that the original was shot outside the filming studio in a set they constructed outdoors. Now that area was built over with apartments iirc.

So they buiilt this new set indoors instead.

6

u/Far-Imagination2736 Sep 15 '26

Could they not just find a new area

5

u/orangtino Sep 15 '26

Right, the show is set in Cali. A set as fundamental as the cafeteria should've been filmed outside. Especially when the background wasn't super integral and they could but the "Hollywood" sign in post. I'm trying not to be cynical about this iteration but little things like make all the difference.

2

u/Jane-Blackmoore Jade West 🖤✂️ Sep 15 '26

It was the same with iCarly revival!

11

u/ElectronicSea3346 Sep 15 '26

Omg Kira Kosin from the Thundermens? 🤩

5

u/Rich_Application6135 Sep 15 '26

Oh… so Robbie still has that goddamn puppet… yay 😐👍

6

u/AlexTorres96 Sep 15 '26

Matt was the only one who was willing to come back of the star cast while everyone will wait to see if it won't fail.

Everyone is all busy but the optics is what stick out most.

3

u/mini1006 Tori Vega ✨🎤 Sep 15 '26

I find that interesting bc Victoria talked about wanting to come back, so I thought she would.

1

u/sunset_lov3r Sep 16 '26

Maybe as a surprise guest appearance for the finale? (I know I’m delusional lol 😭)

1

u/Dorothyshoes30 Sep 16 '26

I hope Victoria Justice guest stars as Tori Vega for at least one episode. It would be really funny if they mentioned Cat is busy playing Glinda in Wicked on Broadway because Ariana Grande played Glinda in the Wicked films.

4

u/Traditional_Cress408 Sep 15 '26

So Robbie is still a loser who carries a puppet around, while his friends put their dreams in action. I feel like hes definitely about to restart Robaratzzi for a bit of fame

4

u/DannyValasia Sep 15 '26

this is gonna be awesome

4

u/Forsaken-Mix-4536 Sep 16 '26

As someone who grew up watching the show, this new one doesn’t seem like it’s for my demographic. Seems like it’s for a younger generation.

8

u/Far-Imagination2736 Sep 15 '26

We'll have to wait to see but what I found great about the original was that the humour was for tweens. Not the PG safe Disney channel. It felt adult yet kid enough that people aged 11-17 could enjoy it.

This looks like all the other children sitcom reboots where they take away the edge and make it cookie cutter, like all the heart warming segments they included when it should be a wacky teen comedy

I was really excited about this but I don't think they got any of the og writers back and you can tell

6

u/corndogs102 Sep 15 '26

Netflix and paramount + (really Viacom) has unfortunately cut a few jokes on streaming out since “quiet on set” came out, probably as damage control. Which was unfortunate since most of those jokes no one commented or complained on. (“How does someone go from an A to a D” is still hilarious to me.) Kid shows with the occasional adult joke that kids wouldn’t understand have been around since Scooby Doo.

Even without the occasional dirty joke, Dan Schneider and his crew had the perfect formula on making shows for tweens that didn’t feel to child-like. The only way I see this show doing decent is if they made the show for the OG audience. They should have made it more mature like with the icarly reboot.

6

u/CandidSplit André Harris 🎶🎹 Sep 15 '26

There’s a difference between a Reboot and a Revival. iCarly is a revival that continues the original story with most of the original characters returning so targeting the OG or older audiences is important but Reboots are telling a whole new story and usually wants to target new audiences not just the OG or older audiences and that’s why one works almost all the time and others don’t.

5

u/mini1006 Tori Vega ✨🎤 Sep 15 '26

The iCarly revival worked bc the old cast came back and they centered it around their adult lives. It wouldn’t have worked the same for Victorious. It would still probably only have Trina, Robbie, and possibly Tori.

They went this route because a new cast of characters wouldn’t NEED the old cast to work.

5

u/AdministrativeWash49 Sep 16 '26

I agree! That’s what made the show good this just doesn’t seem to have the same warmth

6

u/Sea_Grapefruit_9418 Sep 15 '26

Yeah I'm not liking the whole "PoWeR oF fRiEnDsHiP" vibe it's giving at all

2

u/mini1006 Tori Vega ✨🎤 Sep 15 '26 edited Sep 15 '26

Well I prefer that over a friend group that has wondering why they even hang out with each other 😭

I love the original but they were the world’s most toxic group of friends. I don’t like how Disney portrays romantic relationships, but I do enjoy how they portray the friendships between characters.

1

u/mini1006 Tori Vega ✨🎤 Sep 15 '26

Well…they’re trying to not have sexual jokes in the expense of children. Not saying that innuendos are bad but the putting teenagers in compromising positions for a joke is what was bad.

They probably did get the OG writers back, but are just being more careful since it was formerly a Dan Schneider property and he was just called out for predatory behavior.

I do also think it just has to do with kids not really watching tv. Tweens aren’t watching tv, so shows are now being catered to a group younger.

1

u/wyattsnottheasshole Tori Vega ✨🎤 Sep 15 '26

I actually like this because it allows them to have actual positive messages. One of the things the show lacked in my opinion was positive/heartwarming messages. Yes, teenagers fight all the time, but it's always good to have positive messages for younger audiences. Maybe that's just me.

Also, yes, one of the original writers is back for the spinoff.

0

u/Far-Imagination2736 Sep 15 '26

in the expense of children.

Then I think they should cast adults like most teen shows do

I figured

but are just being more careful since it was formerly a Dan Schneider property

Tweens aren’t watching tv, so shows are now being catered to a group younger.

That's true but one factor of this is that there's less tween media. There was a shift in the late 2010s where kids channels started to focus on younger shows.

People keep complaining tweens and teenagers jump to shows too mature for them like euphoria / skins type but don't like the idea of any media made for them.

Looks good tbh, Robbie has Rex I knew it ugh

3

No pear phone anymore.

3

Sofie Dossi and Lexi Rivera. I knew they'd start putting influencers in these Netflix Nick shows.

2

u/indirrr Sep 15 '26

Feel like Robbie is a teacher at Hollywood Arts too. It’s the only reason I see he still has Rex for teaching reason hopefully. So this means we getting the OG cast except Ariana sprinkled in

2

u/LemonadeGamers Sep 16 '26

KIRA KOSARIN SPOTTED!

1

u/wyattsnottheasshole Tori Vega ✨🎤 Sep 15 '26

I love the Kira Kosarin cameo in the trailer. I was hoping they would do some sort of Nick crossover between people from a different universe. This also confirms that Emmy is the new Tori in the spinoff.

2

u/iBandJFilmEducator13 Sep 15 '26

So is Tori Vega the Ariana Grande of the Victorious universe now?

1

u/Iris_sky_ Sep 15 '26

I liked the trailer personally, to me it feels like a show in the Victorious universe and the characters seem to have distinct personalities and good chemistry like the Victorious cast, and of course the set recreation (especially for inside) is cool and looks pretty dang good. I like the first song and to me it has major early 2010’s vibes. Cameos are great to see as well. I just hope people keep an open mind.

The one thing it seems like everyone wants is the original cast in lots of guest appearances or for it to feel, look, and sound basically EXACTLY the same as Victorious. The original cast that hasn’t appeared yet is definitely NOT going to want to even guest star if everyone’s hating on it for a reason that really comes down to it not being exactly the same as Victorious. We haven’t even seen a single episode yet. It will not be the same, and it wouldn’t make sense for it to. It’s a spinoff. It’s a different show with new characters made in a new era and a new set, but in my opinion this is already much better than nothing.

It could fill in some storyline gaps and give some of the og characters closure, and has potential to get more seasons if it’s well received. Plus, every season they’ll be looking at the media to see what they can improve. I’m hyped! It’s completely fine to disagree, but we should really try to keep an open mind.

But uh how come Helen didnt age???

1

u/ModernRewind Tori Vega ✨🎤 Sep 15 '26

looks even better than Sam & Cat

2

u/mini1006 Tori Vega ✨🎤 Sep 15 '26

Anything would look better than Sam & Cat 😭 it was hot garbage. I enjoyed part of it, but it wasn’t great. Spin-offs surrounding comedic relief characters are always a bad idea. It basically tuned both Sam and Cat into caricatures of themselves.

0

u/PleaseSendMeAnyone Sep 15 '26

If Robbie and Cat aren't together I'll be considering this series non-canon just like another ship ruining disaster Netflix made

2

u/mini1006 Tori Vega ✨🎤 Sep 15 '26

I’d prefer if they weren’t married. Robbie was so creepy to her and Cat had the mental capacity of a child. She clearly could not fathom or understand a relationship.

They also just aren’t that iconic of that relationship for you to be this serious. They were barely canon. Even in Sam & Cat, Cat barely had any affections for him. They never even officially gotten together.

I’m more interested if Beck and Jade stayed together. Although, the past ships aren’t what is important about this series. It’s not about the old characters whatsoever.

1

u/PleaseSendMeAnyone Sep 15 '26

I'd prefer if Beck and Jade weren't married. Jade was so creepy to him and Beck had the mental capacity of a child.

That's what you sound like.

1

u/Dorothyshoes30 Sep 16 '26

All the new characters look similar to a character from the original series.

Emmy = Cat

Jen Z = Jade

Oscar = Beck

Pepper = Tori

Qwest = Andre
