In general, they are shifting to AI, but they do still care about games, otherwise Xbox itself would be gone. The CEO of Xbox, Asha, has even removed AI features from Xbox, despite the rest of the company moving toward AI. So they do care about games. The new strategy is to focus on very few studios that they know are successful, like Mojang and King. I don't know why ID didn't make the cut, but I just wanted to shed light on their actual motivation.
