Same. I like the concept of Minecraft; but in practice, I find it to be one of the most mind-numbingly boring games I’ve ever played. I’ve tried and tried to get into it, but just can’t.
Nope! It’s Minecraft with friends. Our group is picky. We pick up a lot of games, play them for 3 hours, and call it a wrap. We always get sucked into Minecraft for a month. We enjoy an annual play through around the holidays. It’s probably the game we most enjoy out of all the games we play. That and valheim which is an absolute banger.
Minecraft has a bunch of different ways you can play it, which is why so many people like it. That said it doesn't have UNLIMITED ways to play it, which is why some people don't like it.
1) I’m already not very big on “crafting” games in general. I don’t mind crafting systems in games, but I prefer them to be uncomplicated and not a central focus. Having to remember recipes and actively search for ingredients isn’t my favorite.
2) Minecraft feels too open ended for me. Like, I guess the final goal in Survival mode is to beat the Ender Dragon, but without any sub goals or “quests” to help steer the gameplay in that direction, it just gets mundane for me quickly.
