Was hoping to see Skyrim on here. One of the first PC games I bought, tried it so many times and never got past the first village. It’s theoretically everything I should like genre wise but yeah, just wouldn’t click for me

Skyrim is an ocean of content but the ocean is 6 inches deep. Everything is so shallow, you can complete everything, and it feels like you're on rails when you aren't. Like it's less of an RPG than mass effect because your choices actually have meaning in Mass Effect and that's an RPG that's def on rails.

Not to mention the abysmal writing. There are a shit load of plot holes, the stories suck, the characters suck. The lack of role playing also makes it suck worse, because why can a pure warrior become the leader of the magic school? Why can you just murder your way through Thieves Guild with no consequences? Nothing in the game has any impact.

Spent over 100 hours on it when it came out, but trying to come back to it after that initial hype died down was eye opening. It's all so clunky, the setting and story are so generic, and characters are boring as hell.

The music is good, but everything else kinda sucks.

I've tried it like a dozen times over the years but it never manages to keep my interest long enough. The role-playing is non-existent, the writing of the main story is offensively boring and bland and, worst of all, the combat is terrible. The beautiful open-world and its atmosphere were what made me come back to try again and again but each individual part of the game besides its nature is so underwhelming.

Almost a decade ago I racked up nearly 400 hours on the game (mods are fun lol) but I'd be lying if I said that I completely disagree with everything here.

In isolation I think Skyrim is a fun enough sandbox experience but as an RPG? It's objectively terrible. There is no meaningful character building and RP in the game -- there aren't really any systems to support it. No skill checks or even more nuanced or varied background or racial specific dialogue iirc.

The main plot is definitely forgeable -- and so is pretty much every companion you get. It just doesn't draw you in well as a piece of writing.

I'm going to take your comment up a notch. For me, generally speaking, just Bethesda games as a whole. I don't like the way the characters are designed and the interactions. I don't know what it is, but they feel bland.

Voice acting is so dogshit and it’s only slightly worse than all the bugs they keep in the games.

LOL forgot about the atrocious voice acting too. I'm getting Oblivion flashbacks now.

Oblivions voice acting is actually peak, if you headcanon that the game is a comedy with a cool story. It's so fucking funny.

Ima bet Minecraft didn't click with you either.

All Bethesda game except maybe fallout 3 and new Vegas are only bearable with mods. Voice acting sucks cock, story is boring, and it’s always buggy af. Mods save ever one of these games and you can’t convince me otherwise.

Big, empty world. Tedious dialogue. Pretty ugly, winter wasteland environment.

I agree with the tedious dialogue, but I disagree with the big empty world.

If anything, I think after all the updates, the game has too much stuff lol. You can start a brand new save file and you'll be immediately approached by the dawnguard guys, and like 10 couriers or something.

Ive never played another rpg I've found as boring as Skyrim. In fact, it released at basically the same time as my favorite game of all time, KOA Amalur.

This absolutely this, Skyrim was "good" when it first came out it was me for me though, its now really outstayed its welcome for me, its EXACTLY the same as it used to be....it sucks that 90% of the game your humping up a mountain

For me I enjoyed kingdoms of amalur and dragons dogma
