That’s sad, anyone even remotely not praising the game is getting downvoted and made to seem like they are crazy…all because they aren’t hyped about a game. It’s just a game lol.
If you don't treat this game like the second coming of Christ, you're wrong and not being objective apparently. People are glazing this game for systems that other games have had for ages, acting like it's the first game ever to use them. People are not only excusing things that they tear other games down for, but saying it's to be expected and amazing that this game has these limitations. On top of the quite skimming business practices in play. But, of course, it's the objectively most exciting bestest game ever.
Also: I thought we've been over this since 2013 but good graphics don't make good games. I don't understand how gamers still get hypnotised by hair physics and lighting when physics and NPC/enemy AI and performance and game balance and the controls and the game being bug free are way more important.
I had an argument with a guy about this the other day. I said "like it or not eye candy doesn't imply a game is finished." And a whole bunch of people lost their minds in my comments. People generally agreed, but there's a lot of pretending that just because it's GTA 6 that it's gonna end up being the second coming of Christ, and that we should just dismiss all the horrible practices and behaviors that Rockstar and T2 have done in the lead up to this whole thing.
Am I hoping the game will be good? Generally yes. Would it give me some perverse sense of schadenfreude if it was shit? Probably. But generally I want people to enjoy the games they purchase and have them be functional products worth justifying as high a price point as GTA 6 is. And spending that much on a video game means that my standards are fairly high. It's gotta justify the price point. There's nuance to be had here and a lot of shit-flinging for little reason.
I think we have a big case of sunk cost fallacy here. People have been eagerly waiting for this game for a long time now so they really really need and want it to be the most perfect 10/10 game ever because if it's just a 7/10 the end of the wait would be kinda anti climactic.
And I'm kinda sympathetic towards this, I was the same with Silk Song and Elden Ring. But with Rockstar I just have my qualms. For many reasons.
Not gonna spend $100 on a game that doesn’t seem worth 60, isn’t releasing on PC yet, and is capped at 30 frames. I don’t find $100 to be worth it. Doesn’t make me a hater
It's also full of bad faith comparisons and people not understanding what people mean when they say "looks like GTA 5". No we don't mean the freakin graphics, we have eyes and can see the detail is better. We're talking about things like the outdated overly scripted mission design which is fully on display in the 25 minute video (it's more than half of it!).
edit: Ok well that one idiot below saying it's a ps3 game did it but he does not speak for the rest of us.
I think what people need to say is gta isn't for them
I'm not excited for gta6, it looks good. But I also wasn't excited for gta5
It's not that it's good or bad, I just know I'm not the target audience. I did the things in san Andreas and vice city and 4 and this looks like more of the same. In its genre it's probably good, I feel like the sandbox genre has progressed by mounds, but ultimately it's not my cup and others as well.
Do I also question why it's worth billions? Yeah. But I have the same question of genshin impact, which also isn't a bad game it's just not for me
Like I've seen people rage quit undertale for having too much talking. Does that mean undertale is trash? For them it does but ultimately we procees things differently
I did the things in san Andreas and vice city and 4 and this looks like more of the same.
This is it for me. The game looks amazing, but I didn't play GTA V because I felt like I'd had enough of the game from the titles you mentioned already. If I was 13-20 years old though I'd probably be going crazy over this game.
This is what I’ve been trying to say, but apparently calling it what it is just a game is a problem to some people. Apparently, I have to pretend that it’s something special.
To each their own, it’s good people think it’s special but it’s not some revolutionary game or anything…it’s just the next installment in a franchise that’s it. Sorry, but I’m just not on the hype train for GTA 6, I have never and will never get overly excited for just a game or any game.
I think you just dont like video games a whole lot man😭. Like I see where ur coming from but if you've never gotten excited about a game then why r u here?😭
I said overly excited. I get happy about games that interest me, but I’ve never been hyped. It’s like cool, that game looks fun I will definitely grab that and check it out. But at the end of the day, they’re just games to me. I play for a couple hours a day or whatever get my little excitement and keep it moving. But I’ve never been the “I can’t wait, this game is gonna be huge” type of person.
the game isn’t even out yet you can’t say it’s objectively anything lol. this is the main issue it’s being lauded as revolutionary and no one has even gotten to play it yet, the overwhelming fanaticism of gta fans pushes people the other way
it’ll more than likely be a great game. it looks like a ton of fun. but it is not special or revolutionary based on 25 minutes of curated gameplay previews
From what we've seen so far the optimization and world density is bar none best there has ever been. There are entire articles of people who have played the game showcasing stats and info about the game. Obviously still they could delete like half the content right before launch so obv its speculation. But id bet money on it🤷♂️
How old are you? Because for some of us, we remember when videogames were all 2D not because of some gimmick or because it was the designer's choice but because it was the only thing possible. For people who remember stuff like that, seeing the massively detailed world they have made is absolutely special and revolutionary.
i love how this is the discourse, if you’re not in agreement that gta6 is already a landmark title that’s going to revolutionize the space then you’re either too young, or too old, or a curmudgeon, or a hater, or just wrong lol
like this is the exact attitude that makes it so frustrating to try and talk about this game, the fanatics are just as bad as the people who hate for no reason
I think the problem is people criticising the game with impossible standards. It’s ok if you don’t care about the game, now saying, for instance, it doesn’t look incredible is factually wrong, at least from what was shown in the extended trailer
Rockstar is pushing ahead with Digital, is leading the 100$ game charge, still presenting 30FPS and dangling the idea of 60FPS in the future, and will be at the forefront of a controversy that will spark and set the stage for increased censorship laws to creep out from Australia to the rest of the world.
kinda reminds me of the star citizien fans until recently. You couldnt hate/be negative or even voice concern or be critical on the game in their communitys.
You should see this dude in another section, he’s so mad that I said gta isn’t anything special and is just a game. Apparently I’m edgy, and drink pumpkin spice lattes and all these other childish comments, all because I said it’s just a game and wouldn’t praise rockstar for their amazing work with open world games…like dude it’s a game!
Lol, there is some literally upset because I said gta was nothing special and just a game. That somehow led them getting triggered, and I became a man bun having, latte drinking whatever. People can’t handle, that others just aren’t hype and foaming at the mouth for a game.
You have to remember you're probably chatting with literal children. I had the same kind of thing happen with Cyberpunk a few years ago. People would talk about the game like it's literally a digital world they can live in forever and I reminded them that it's a video game that is still beholden to current technology and they were all upset. That was when I realized they were just excited kids daydreaming about what they hope is possible the same way I used to do when I was 12-13 years old and posting on GameFAQs and IGN message boards.
Because the thread asked about hype, and while I play it..I’m not hyped for it. They asked, and I shared my opinion. How they feel about my response and opinion of a game, is a personal problem for them.
Some people are also tired about GTA 6 this GTA 6 that, and them expressing this fatigue for the hype get's uncharitably interpreted as them being a wet blanket hater.
I mean come on, like 5 years ago I was at my uni convenience store and the cashier randomly was like "so when are we getting GTA 6, amirite?"
There is also the other side of this where people are making fun about how exaggerative the fans are being about the game with them acting like it's the second coming of christ.
Nah, you know you can sort by upvotes? There is also so little comments like the ones presented in the video. Cause it's strawman fallacy. Most anti GTA comments downvoted very hard, even though there are a lot of them. Best metrics is some treads like: "what's the most overhyped game?"
Aside from anti-corpo arguments people complaining about GTA VI gameplay looks boring. And that GTA V gameplay was also boring for them. The Jason is autistic and backflip arguments truely made by people interested in game, that probably would buy it.
But there is a big amount of people that tried V, won't like, don't see how VI is any better, but internet decided that they should be hyped about it.
Also a lot of annoying fanatics with arguments, that if game has more sales and budget it obviously better than your fav game.
