I’m glad they were labelled because it’s hard to see the difference.

I was so confused until I saw the label

Honestly, this is how I saw it as a kid. It was a beautiful game and still is.

I swear as graphics have gotten better my brains ability to fill in the details has gone

Never have I ever seen a Dino with a gyatt like that

1

u/welfedad Sep 08 '26

Gyattzilla or thicczilla

I'm a bit of a computer expert and the remake has at least 10 more pixels than the original.

1

u/welfedad Sep 10 '26

10hdr+pixels

Top one's the same game, just using DLSS5

3

u/Tsyath Sep 08 '26

Can't be, top one has NPC's who's face hasn't been destroyed by Nvidia's AI.

1

u/DunkingTea Sep 08 '26

True, but if you look close, you can see the top one has a slightly better framerate

1

u/Exploding8 Sep 09 '26

Yeah its really hard to tell the difference with exact 1:1 remakes like this

1

u/MediocreRooster4190 Sep 09 '26

Especially when one is stretched to match the other. Nearly identical.

1

u/vaynecassano Sep 09 '26

I was so confused, it the same until I read the label phew

1

u/crazybus21 Sep 09 '26

They did a great job with the art direction

1

u/Gupperz Sep 09 '26

yea, that top screen is just the way I remembered

1

u/Agarwel Sep 09 '26

How did you find the labels without huge red arrows? And the video is missing some youtuber with pikachu face, so now I dont know if the difference is mindblowing. Also the title does not told me to "wait till the end", so I was not able to see it all.

For real, in 1998 it looked exactly the same for me. Both state of the art for the platform.

1

u/FrostandFlame89 Sep 09 '26

You're joking right?

1

u/ThaLunatik Sep 09 '26

Apparently they're still using RealPlayer from 1998 to render the videos.

lol how 😂

Just looks like the unreal engine 5, hairs too shiny Link looks like a doll, think I’ll still buy it though, hate the fog…costs too much, think they should have done something different even though I can’t say what that is

Graphics look like a downgrade. Old version has a clear aesthetic while the new version just looks like all unreal engine 5 games.

0

u/EngineerEthan Sep 08 '26

I was hoping it would look nice but it feels like whoever was in charge of the art direction was just screaming “MORE POLYGONS! MORE SHADERS! MORE DETAILS! DETAILS ARE THE BEEEEEEST!”

2

u/Prestigious-Shape998 Sep 08 '26

The 3ds remake managed to persevere the original art still while modernising the graphics. This new remake looks like MGS delta.

Downgrade? Tool, Troll, or Bot. You tell me…

-1

u/Revayan Sep 09 '26

Downgrade is the wrong word, Id say it just looks super generic the shown environments have no own identity anymore. Just more hyper realistic stuff that could as well be from any UE5 game. Put the protags from the new FABLE trailer in there and theyd just fit

u/Doctormaul68 Sep 09 '26

These “armchair quarterbacks “ bitching. Think you could do better. Prove it make a game to your standards instead of just bitching. No you will not because complaining is easier right?

1

u/Revayan Sep 09 '26

Whoa you alright there champ? No need to gobble Nintendos nuts whole just because you disagree with criticism lol

1

u/Prestigious-Shape998 Sep 09 '26

I guess with your logic I have to accept that The Room is an awesome movie because I cannot make a better movie.

0

u/PunisherElite Sep 08 '26

Yea 28 years who Would have through. Original looks better. lol hk

u/omegadirectory Sep 08 '26

It's kinda needed when people will look at GTA6 and (seemingly seriously) say it looks like GTA5.

15

u/DorthVooder Sep 08 '26

Bro. You can like the old graphics. To say they are "better" is just incorrect.

People can be wrong about things and we need to call them out when they are, otherwise we end up…well basically where we are now. You can prefer the charm or the art style, sure, but objectively the graphics are not better and if you say that you are wrong.

u/DorthVooder Sep 09 '26

Some opinions are bad

Damn, your eyes good twin?
