The absolute madmen, they actually did it! Spoiler

They gave us a character death WORSE than Vol'jin's.

Watched the cutscene and it's so bad. The idea of her dying isn't even what makes me mad; it's how it was handled. WoW used to be really fun schlock to me. But for years now, it has felt like a weird imitation of YA trash and Whedonesque cringe dialogue. It's just unbearable; this being a prime example.

Legion really was the beginning of the shit writing.

There was some cool things going on there, but opening with two faction leader deaths to "raise the stakes" was the first clue we were on our way to a bad place.

Legion was the last truly good xpac imo. Story wise, everything just felt done after Sargeras was taken care of. He was responsible for most of the problems we faced from WC1 up to that point, and we sealed him. WoW could’ve ended there..

Honestly, the signs were already there in Legion. Beloved side characters getting killed off with no fanfare, the big goofy ass sword asking us to give up our beloved Artifacts. There are other examples I'm sure, but as good as Legion was, it was also the start of the descent of the bell curve as well.
