A children’s hospital, that was evacuated except for the brave doctors who stock it out because they were in surgery. One died doctor died and three more children.

Awww dude, I didn't read the article intentionally because I didn't want to know the specifics (obvs you didn't know that though). That's devastating

I would think that would be good news? Only 4 people died, when I first read that a children’s hospital was bombed I assumed it would’ve been way more

That's one way to look at it I suppose. But hearing that four kids and a doctor were intentionally murdered still breaks my heart.

I know it's easy to disconnect ftom it because it's been going on for years now and it seems so far away. But it was four real children. They had nothing to do with the war. And the doctor was in a war zone trying to save children's lives. It's just fucked up

At least you’re aware of your fear of knowledge. Once you learn to not identify with the fear, you’ll be able to seek the truth and accept it as reality. Then you can help others.

That's not condescending at all. I'm not scared of knowledge in general. I just didn't want to know how many children and doctors died. And I do help others. Everyone does. But it's not like I can do anything to stop what's happening in Ukraine. I'm just a sad redditor

It wasn’t intended to be condescending. I was honestly proud of you for acknowledging your mind’s aversion to the truth. And I believe you will help others make the same realizations. Those kinds of insights do lead to significant changes in society, like stopping wars. Holding each other up while we face the awful truth together is the only way forward. FWIW I didn’t read the article either, but I had assumed much worse. I was relieved to read the truth.

More condescension. If it's unintentional, then you are just a prick

Ok. I’m sorry you got sad and that I interfered with your feelings. I’m autistic, and guess I’ll always be surprised at how much unintentional malice people find in words, it’s like they’re expecting the worst. In person people understand I’m not out to get them. Anyway I hope you have a good day.

For future reference, "I'm sorry that my words caused distress. That wasn't my intent." takes far more ownership of the error than "I'm sorry you got sad." The latter still puts the onus on the other person.

I am sorry that my words caused distress, however I was referring to the sadness about the children and doctors before I got here. I interfered in that emotional process with my unnecessary spiritual preaching, and should have apologized for that instead of saying “I’m sorry” in a sympathetic way. Thank you though, I appreciate the help.

I have similar issues with words not always matching intent, so I figured sharing an apology that people find "better" would help. Sorry I didn't add that extra context. 🤝

It's not malice I'm concerned about. It was saying "I was honestly proud of you for acknowledging your mind's aversion to the truth". That's called condescension (me explaining that, is me being condescending btw. And that too). I don't want you to be proud of me for anything, let alone a blatant lie. Acknowledging my mind's aversion to truth... F*ck you. You think you know how my mind works because I didn't want to know how many children were killed?

Your parents had sex to concieve you. Do you want to know what position they were in at the time? Doggy? Reverse cowgirl? Did dad throw mum around the room like a rag doll?

Sometimes people just don't want to know the specifics. I know my car runs, but I'm not interested in learning how to fix one. But ask me anything about chemistry and I'm a cornucopia of information.

Maybe just don't make bold ass assumptions about people.

I can see how it sounded condescending and I am truly sorry. My sense of self is connected to every living thing, I feel pride and joy and in others’ achievements, in their growth. But I can do that without talking about it, and I’ll be more careful in the future about the words I use, and about saying anything at all.

Most people don’t want to know certain things, and yes of course I have a long list of those. Being aware of the aversion, knowing that you don’t want to know those things, THAT is an accomplishment, a way of knowing yourself that many people don’t. Imagine all the people that read the details they didn’t want to know, and went on with their day feeling worse but not knowing why. At least you know. It may not feel good but it’s a step on the path.

Edit: also I would love to talk about chemistry with you. I’m sure you didn’t meant ME but anyway, I love a good infodump.

You were condescending again in that comment. You were man-splaining self-reflection to me. Just assuming I have no knowledge and you know better.

However, you also showed an interest in Chemistry, which is kind of my thing. So ask away. Just don't try to explain anything to me unless I ask
