The First Time I heard Magic Man

• Upvotes

I was playing chess with my older brother in the basement of our house in Connecticut. We had a an old 50's tube radio down there that sounded really good. In the middle of our game, Magic Man came on. I had no idea who they were but that song had a "magical" effect on my brain and totally distracted me from our game. It wasn't long before I became a huge Heart fan. To this day I'm very grateful for the original Heart band and much of their music that followed.

Yep. The hit Great White song is a cover from former Mott The Hoople frontman Ian Hunter

The song is reportedly about how groupies were just as unfaithful as the band members.

It's time for Journey to replace Arnel.

We went to see Journey last night and Arnel was horrible on lead vocals. He just doesn't cut it anymore. They had other band members do lead vocals on some songs and they were all better. The drummer Deen Castronovo has an amazing voice, he sounds just like Steve Perry. They should let someone else play drums and let Deen be the front man on vocals, he's 10x better than Arnel. One girl in our group is from the Philippines and she was the one who disliked Arnel's singing the most.

Emitt Rhodes has been described as a one man Beatles. He was sadly largely overlooked by listening audiences, but his work influenced other acts that became more famous, such as the Bangles. His talent warranted much bigger fame than he found in life.
