You Can Be Mine is such a damn BOP! The lyrics and vocals are so innocent while the instruments are SLAPPIN! Can’t wait to see her perform this one LiVE! 🔥🔥🔥

I was following this cute fan's story of catching Janet Jackson's towel during Singapore's F1 Grand Prix performance. He was trying to get Janet Jackson to do the heart shape 🫶, so he recorded using both the front and back cameras. Then out of nowhere, Janet threw him a towel hahaha.

I'm glad at least the towel went to a die-hard and not to some random concert goer. From his other reels, he printed cards to flip during different songs, so I guess Janet and her team might have noticed his efforts. Some of the cards had diamond graphics, possibly a nod to the original Black Diamond era, with messages like “Welcome back, Damita Jo!”, “Hey, you guys!” and “SG MYM!” (Singapore Miss You Much).

He was also asking around online to see if anyone had filmed Runaway, especially the part where Janet threw him the towel since his both attempts of recording failed to capture. Probably hoping someone from behind had caught it on camera. Little did he know, an official photographer had captured the moment!

He wrote "I cannot make this up: I'm on Janet Jackson's Instagram! @janetjackson

Thank you for the gift (the towel)! You're a true inspiration to me and many others around the world. The blueprint. You're the most humble human being I've ever known. You have been through hardship, grew stronger and stronger with every obstacle. Keep shining brighter, you have really earned the title Diamond Black. l'm also happy you're in good company with Gil and the kidz by your side (Thank you Gil for taking care of Janet! I greeted you and the kidz with a HEY YOU GUYS).

Love you, J. Thanks for coming to Singapore!

PS I seriously thought no one would have caught that moment (Way to go, photographer)!

Janet Jackson's dedication post [omg she looks so good] for Singapore (slide 13):

What a story, so jelly. Imagine going home thinking you got lucky, only to find out there's an official photo of the whole thing. 😭

It can be both as a song as a whole or to perform/sing. For example, a lot of people know that Vanessa Carlton hates her song a thousand miles.

I don’t think Janet actually detests any of her music (except maybe her first or second album). But was wondering if she came out and said anything specific Post Control?

There's something so 90s cyberpunk
Japan mixed with hopeless romantic about this song and I love it so much

I'm so happy with my current collection of her albums! And a few 12" singles mixed in. I had an opportunity to get a "When I Think Of You" 12" but I passed on it. Kinda regretting it!

I also have Rhythm Nation on cassette, randomly haha.

Moist is such an elegantly sensual song! It along with Warmth are some of Janet’s sexiest songs of Damita Jo and her catalog as a whole so far! I remember listening to this album on repeat and writing down all of the lyrics in a notebook. I used to be irritated at how the CD booklets would get some of the words wrong so I always listened for myself lol. Anywho, such a genius song! 🌊

Missy Elliott is receiving another well-deserved salute, and this time fellow music titan Janet Jackson will be doing the honors.

The Hip-Hop pioneer has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious Icon Award at the 2026 ‘Gala of the Stars,’ benefiting Dancers Against Cancer.

And the celebration promises to be a star-studded affair.

Set to take place on October 22 at The Beverly Hilton, the ceremony will see Jackson present her friend and collaborator Missy with the honor in recognition of her groundbreaking contributions to music, dance, and entertainment.

It’s a fitting full-circle moment, as Janet herself received the Icon Award at last year’s gala.

The pair’s history runs deep, from their collaboration on ‘BURNITUP!’ to their memorable joint performance on the ‘State of the World Tour.’

Missy’s latest accolade adds to a historic collection that includes her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and her MTV Video Vanguard Award.

Also being celebrated on the night are choreography legends Toni Basil and Vincent Paterson, while Paula Abdul will return as a presenter.

Hosted by Maksim Chmerkovskiy, the gala will raise funds for dancers, choreographers, and their families affected by cancer.

Is anyone else feeling like Janet may actually announce and perform some new music from an upcoming album during the control 40 shows?

I know she’s performing the whole album but that’s only 40 minutes or so which leaves a lot of time for more songs… that and the tease she gave in Singapore is giving me some hope 😭😭😭

Hi, I just bought tickets for the Janet Jackson show. I'm super excited, never seen her live before. I have always loved her music and style but only listened to her casually. How should I prepare, I need a playlist to learn the songs! Which setlist from her past shows do you think is closer to what the show will be like. Any other info is appreciated,

thought I'd share this compilation I made called SloLove. Just compiling a lot of Janet's slower, sexier tracks into a great late-night mixtape. ; )

...enjoy...

I would let say I wasn’t a fan when unbreakable was released but I don’t really remember it in the cultural zeitgeist.

It got #1 in the US but it didn’t really stick around on the 200 charts for very long. I’m just trying to remember that era from her as it is the most recent from her and I don’t remember really anything about it.
