Freak Kitchen - Razor Flower
Using tones from my 'experimental' pedalboard. Bass is Sire M2 5 string with single coil wiring. Drop A, but the song is Bb tho....

If you're posting your OWN cover, consider whether it is noteworthy or not. Start a conversation in the comments on why you're posting - what made that song different than any other that you might have picked. Covers should have your name in the title if you are performing it.
Please keep the post quality very high. If it's your weekly cover, or your practice routine, and is not above average, please consider not posting here - though there are a few other practice and cover subs that are suited for that content.

performer name, song name, length [resolution]
We have a long title format here, to get info to viewers. Why, though? This is an old sub that split off of /r/bass to be less noisy.
The performer name helps redditors look up your stuff, or skip it and move on. If it's cover, the performer name is better than the original performer's name. The title lets us know what we're listening to. The time lets people skip hour-long concerts or bass clinics if they're not interested. Some people won't tolerate 240p clips of Anthony Jackson from some potato cam, but others don't care - so we just add the resolution.
If you're crossposting to ten subs, please don't use their title format here. The backstory on a post is great for the comments, but isn't what we want in the title. Hype or clickbait titles aren't needed if posters only post good content. That way, every video is worth watching. If it's your weekly practice session, and there's nothing that you like in it, that may not be worth posting. Let's make the sub more artisan-level than your weekly practice routine, or your weekly cover. There is a separate sticky on the topic of "covers".
If the format is too cumbersome, please remember that this is just a micro-subreddit. The big bass sub is /r/bass. That may be suited for you, and will get you 10x more views.

If you were building a bass and had the option to combine pickups and onboard preamps from different brands—EMG and StingRay—how would you set it up: EMG pickups with a StingRay preamp, or StingRay pickups with an EMG preamp?
I'm looking for the combination of pickups and onboard preamps that delivers the most growl possible.

Hey guys! I'm new here and I wanted to post something! I've been playing bass almost 3 years now. This is a Duran Duran cover I played some months ago. Rio has a killer bass line!! Hope you like it :)

A little confused on the title format so I just put both the perfomer's name (that's me, hi) and the og artist's name. Just started bass, so I'm sorry if it's a bit shit

Hello there
I‘ve been sharing a few clips from my BABYLON SESSIONS throughout the last few weeks, to some nice responce, so i wanted to share a moment from my newest session. This time i definitely won‘t beat the “why don‘t you just buy a synth“ allegations, but i think it‘s a cool texture, so hope you‘ll enjoy <3
If you‘re curious, BABYLON is my solo-project, where i play the bass with a ton of effects, and attempt to create some cool soundscapes and nice vibes. You can check out more on Youtube:

Hey everyone!
I recently got a bass guitar and want to learn how to play, but I'm completely new to the instrument.
I'm broke at the moment, so I'm looking for resources that are completely free. I can't afford lessons, subscriptions or paid courses.
My music taste is mainly metal and goth. I'd especially love to learn songs by Type O Negative and Skulk, but I'm open to recommendations for other bands and beginner-friendly songs.
I'd appreciate advice on:
Free apps or websites for tuning my bass
Good YouTube channels or structured beginner courses
How to practice and build good technique from day one
Learning rhythm, timing, notes and reading tabs
Free tools for slowing songs down or practicing along with them
Beginner-friendly metal, goth and doom metal songs
How to figure out which songs are realistic for my current skill level
How to get a good sound from my bass without buying extra equipment
Any mistakes I should avoid as a beginner
If you were starting from zero today and had no money to spend, what would your learning plan look like?
I'm especially interested in learning to play music I actually enjoy rather than only practicing generic beginner exercises.
Thanks for any advice! I'm excited to get started.

This is mostly two string chords on the D and G strings, plus the open C string. Also spiced a few 19th fret harmonics at the end, but they're sorta meh

Hi everyone,
I just finished producing, mixing, and mastering a new instrumental post-rock track called "Flowers" for my solo project SKALIAN.
During the mix, my biggest challenge was making sure the bass didn't get buried under the massive wall of distorted guitars during the climax.
My Gear & Signal Chain:
To keep the low-end tight but aggressive, I relied on the punch of the SR700's mids, used the MX5 for tone shaping, and split the signal in my DAW: one clean sub-bass track, and one saturated mid-range track to cut through the guitar layers.
For those mixing heavy/atmospheric genres, how do you balance your active bass preamp settings vs. your amp simulator/IR processing?
(I'll drop a link to the track in the comments if you want to hear how the Headrush/Choptones tone sits in the final master!)

I’m not a “multiple takes” kinda guy. I get a good one, and that’s it. I’m not gonna shoot it again just to satisfy the internet pissing match. So here it is, with a drawing of the ugliest house I’ve ever seen. Lol
The song is called “Money Makes You Fat”. It’s about……. Well…….. how money makes you fat.
Kidding. It’s about how some people will always be miserable, broke, and lame. People who work endlessly for a sense importance and the illusion of permanence, and who define their legacies through performative ownership of material possessions and mindless displays of wealth……. People who may even achieve great things, and yet, lack personality and relationships, bring no fulfillment or enrichment to anyone but themselves, and cease to exist meaningfully outside of contributing to the economy.
My buddy and I have about 2 albums worth of songs and zero drummers, so this is what I’m doing for now.
