🚰 Stage 4 Water Restrictions Begin November 4
We’re entering the final steps of construction on the new Bearspaw South Feeder Main, a major infrastructure project that will help improve the reliability and resilience of our city's water system.
To safely connect the new feeder main to the existing water system, the current line must be temporarily shut down. As a result, Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions and indoor water conservation measures will be in effect starting November 4 for approximately four weeks.
During this time:
❌ No outdoor water use permitted
✅ Run dishwashers and laundry only when full
✅ Flush toilets only when needed
✅ Keep showers short. Aim for three minutes
These conservation efforts will help ensure enough water is available for essential needs, including firefighting, while crews complete this critical connection.
Once connected, crews will focus on bringing the new line into service before being fully operational later this year.
We appreciate all Calgarians and residents in Airdrie, Chestermere, Strathmore and Tsuut'ina Nation helping conserve water and supporting this important investment in our water infrastructure. 💧

Choose option 1 on question 10.
Let's put this separation nonsense to bed once and for all.

I see lots of people walking in downtown today. Parts of trees or whole trees are falling. Be careful everyone!

Sorry for the non perfect pictures. I just enjoyed this piece given the current political climate.
The artist of the piece also mentioned they are now being tariffed on their art as well if they want to sell in the US.
Also, just want to mention the art show is amazing if you can make it! Go check out the other local artists work. Last day is tomorrow!

I have been a Calgary transit user for most of my life. I have been using it more often lately to take it to the hospital and now to rehab where I am visiting a family member. Before, I would usually just take the train to and from work. There were minor problems then, but now that I am using transit more often off of the peak times, I am noticing just how bad it has become.
Transit times are very loosely based on the actual schedule. Planning a trip that involves more than one bus can mean your trip can be between one and two hours, as was an example I unfortunately had to deal with today.
Buses sometimes have the incorrect signage. A bus zipped by me with an "Out of Service" sign one time, only to find out it was my bus. Other buses will provide you with the wrong destination sometimes if they are at the mid-point, which I have been lucky to communicate with the driver on more than one occasion in the last few weeks.
I live in an area where there is construction, and they have put a temporary stop by my house. I haven't had to deal with this stop yet, but the stop only says "temporary stop" and does not provide any other info. There is another temporary stop by my house, but the stop information doesn't look quite right... I noticed that sometimes the bus will still try to go the other way, leaving people at the temporary stop to wait.
I am going back to work and to my normal train schedule, but boy do I feel terrible for anyone who has to ride these buses during the off-peak hours. It's pretty disorganized and even when I ring the bell for my stop, there is a 50% chance the bus driver drives past my stop.
What in the world is going on? I know I am just venting but this is a pretty important service and I understand why this is such a car city. I saw there was a new committee about such things but life is hectic enough to get involved with that sort of thing. I think I would explode.

Looking for a specific type of recommendation… I am moving into a new home, and wondering if anybody had a handyman they could recommend to mount a tv, on a stone tile fireplace?
Given the precariousness of the project, would prefer a referral to someone, over a basic google search. I’ve included a photo for reference.

Friend informed me to let people I know in the Calgary-Varsity Parkdale area that the Nifty Fifties location has no line. I don't know anyone in that area so I'm doing the next best thing. They are allegedly bored and want people to come advance vote. So if you are able to use that polling location and haven't voted yet...go vote! It'll be super fast!

We now know that three people lost their lives. Two have been identified and their families have been notified. Police are still working to identify the third person.
Sixteen people suffered minor injuries, and one of our Calgary Transit drivers is in hospital with life-altering injuries.
My heart goes out to everyone affected, especially the families who are facing an unimaginable loss right now.
Police have shared more details about what happened. The crash involved two Calgary Transit buses and several other vehicles near Saddletowne Circle and 80th Avenue.
One bus collided with several vehicles before striking a second bus. That second bus caught fire, and within seconds, there was an explosion.
I can't begin to imagine how terrifying that must have been for everyone involved. And I want to talk about our first responders for a moment.
Our firefighters arrived to find a bus on fire, people injured, and a driver trapped inside another bus. They had to fight the fire, rescue the driver, and help the injured, all at once.
We also know that a police officer rushed toward the burning bus to save a child. That officer was injured and is now recovering at home.
I want to thank every firefighter, police officer, paramedic, dispatcher, and Calgary Transit employee who stepped up yesterday.
We're still trying to understand exactly what happened. Police are investigating, and it's too early to say what caused this crash.
If you witnessed what happened, or you're struggling with what you saw, please reach out to the Calgary Police Victim Assistance team at 403-428-8398.
I know a lot of people in Calgary are hurting right now. And I know there are families whose lives will never be the same. We're going to do everything we can to support them, care for those recovering, and get answers about what happened.
To everyone affected by this tragedy, please know that your city is here for you. And we're going to be here for you in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

Found a pair of Keys attached to a blue carabiner downtown on 10th Avenue Southwest near national. Hung them up in a tree for easier locating, but they were in the tree well.

Just voted at the Ukrainian church in Glamorgan and saw a cute bobcat cruising through the parking lot. Not a cougar, she was in the church checking the IDs at the door. 🤣😜
Keep your small dogs and redneck kids safe!

PSA: A lot of people dont know this exists:

If you're ever left standing holding some garbage in your hand wondering where it is supposed to go (blue bin, green bin, black bin, landfill, Eco center, etc.) you can find out in a flash with What Goes Where.
Sometimes I just go there for fun to see what kinds of stuff they've catalogued the correct disposal avenue for.

My kid is turning 7 and he wants to have a low-key party at an arcade with some friends. Thinking somewhere we can get a table and they can just play games to their hearts content and then have some food. Bonus points if it's the kind of place you can pay a flat entry up front and not per game, and if it had vintage/classic games. And not Chuck E Cheese 😆. Any suggestions?

Another find from the estate… a Calgary Chapter Alberta Pioneer auto club badge… I think it actually mounts to vehicles and not clothing.
Any club members on this forum that could help me figure out when these came out?

Hello everyone. I'm a recent mechanical engineering graduate looking to pivot to quality assurance/documentation roles in the local medical device or health tech sector. Are there any local companies or hubs I should be tracking? If anyone here knows of any such jobs that are hiring, please do let me know. Thank you!

Reddit's limited to less than 15 mins for video, so I wasn't able to include the PM's full speech. To watch the full event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9qurAd0MCU
Last night, I had the honour of introducing Prime Minister Mark Carney at Calgary's Forever Canadian rally.
I had a different speech planned. I wanted to talk about my father, who came to Canada as a refugee 70 years ago this month, and how his son grew up to become Mayor of Calgary.
But after yesterday's tragic bus crash that claimed three lives and injured seventeen others, including a police officer who ran into a burning bus to save a child, my thoughts were with the victims, their families, and our first responders.
It was a difficult day for our city. But seeing thousands of Albertans come together reminded me of what makes this country worth standing up for.
I'm a proud Albertan. I'm a proud Canadian. And I refuse to believe we have to choose between the two.
We're stronger together. And we're Forever Canadian.

Hey all. Just looking for a quiet area to take our youngest driving for the first few rounds. We were lucky with the first kid and had the empty parking lot at the old Rona in Creekside to let them get their first feel for driving. Now it’s full usually with all the gym members. Any area big, open, and quiet in the area recommended?
Edit: Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions! I have a ton of options to check out!
