Hello all, so I'm now 31, but in the past from ages 10 to about 23, I've experienced heavy bullying from the people around me including school, public places, work, in my town in general which just bled into the rest of my life up to today.

I've been to some concerts where this harrassment also happened, however they weren't EDM sets, but they still left an imprint in my mind that feels scarring like "if i go to another show then I'll get picked on again."

Even today, the experiences still affect me and cause me to run away or shelter myself away from crowds or the public. However, I've been a huge active listener to EDM (dubstep, house and trance specifically), even got my own awesome home system set up to enjoy my own "concert at home", but I just feel like I'm completely missing out.

I've never been to a major festival, only to a few local dubstep sets in my teens, but in those few that I did go to I went to them under influence so it helped me ignore the anxiety and wanting to run away feeling. But I don't want to use drugs or alcohol as something to comfort me just to be able to go.

I actively am in therapy and on medication for my issues with very understanding professionals and doctors, but I still want to experience fun while I'm still somewhat young.

I've heard many times that the crowd for electronic music is very welcoming which gives me hope, and I know we can't predict the future and what people are going to do and say, but I just would like some comforting input or even some advice to those that maybe felt scared or nervous going to shows or festivals and overcame that fear.

does it bother you if someone doesn’t correctly name so and so genre and if they call it edm ? 😏

Not sure how many of you remember me or this series, but my name is ANGEMI, and years ago I used to make these videos called “What If”, where I’d take popular EDM tracks and reimagine them as if they were produced by completely different DJs.

Back in 2014-15, I was posting them on Facebook and YouTube, and somehow they reached millions of EDM lovers around the world.

One of the craziest things about that period is that, even today, I still meet DJs and producers who tell me they grew up watching those videos, or that they were part of what inspired them to start producing music.

Over the years, life got busy. I spent more time touring, releasing my own music, and focusing on different projects. And somewhere along the way, I stopped making the videos that had originally connected me with so many people in the EDM community. But I never really forgot about them.

So after years of not making a single episode, I finally decided to bring the What If series back.

For the comeback, I picked Martin Garrix’s “This Dream of You” and challenged myself to imagine how the track might sound if it had been produced in four completely different styles.

I spent a lot of time recreating the sound design, arrangements, and production techniques behind each version, trying to make them feel like something those artists might actually produce, while keeping the emotion of the original song. All of this without the use of AI, just like I used to do those years ago!

And making this episode reminded me of why I started doing these videos in the first place.
It was never just about copying someone’s sound but was more about experimenting, learning from other producers, and showing how differently the same musical idea can be interpreted.

Here’s the new episode:

I’m genuinely curious about three things:

1. Does anyone here remember watching the original What If videos back in the day?

2. Which DJ or producer would you love to see featured in a future episode?

3. Which one is your favorite version from this video?

I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially from fellow producers.

It feels really good to bring this little piece of EDM history back to life.

Much love,
ANGEMI 💛

Hi,

I’m looking for some specific background music recommendations while I study/work. Specifically movie soundtrack remixes like Cornfield Chase (Interstellar) by Bassjackers and He's a Pirate (Pirates of the Caribbean) by Tiesto.

I am looking for either Apple Music (I don't have spotify) or long videos/playlists on youtube.

Does anyone have any good playlist links, specific channel recommendations, or even just individual track names that fit this vibe?

Thanks in advance!

So it's about a 40 minute mix. You need premium to get the transitions etc otherwise it's just a track list.

Found out the Girl I like at work, and am starting to get to know, is a big kandi kid so I wanted to show her my tastes in EDM as a longtime raver. Hoping to impress 😂

Please no rage about how this isn't DJing etc, Im not claiming it is, it's the equivalent of a mixtape, I just did a lot of editing the auto transitions to my liking.

Hoping for input on the song selection and the transitions. How you feel about the song selection, order, and Anything negative or positive that really stands out regarding those or transitions. If you get impatient listening to a track and just wanna skip to the transition, you'll need to skip to the end point of the song.
