Anytime the blood worms come out, my year old female is voracious, at times she will exit the water and wave at me.

Feeding Cramer some Tuna

Sharing some good crawfish vibes with Cramer! 🦞

Today was his first time trying tuna, but he’s definitely no stranger to eating fish. I used to have four minnows in his tank… let’s just say population control has brought that number down to two. 😂
Cramer also recently pulled off a great escape, but he’s back home now, living his best post-escape life and enjoying some fresh tuna. Life is good for this little guy!

Not sure why he’s on the filter intake but you do you, Tangent.

Also excuse my terrible photography I’m still figuring out how to take clear pictures from outside the tank.

First post here, any idea what species she might be? She’s from the Black River in Wisconsin. She’s definitely of the faxonis genus…

meet Cray the Fish, I recently gave the little man a little chunk of washed, organic carrot…

I have never seen him eat like this, nor have I seen him move this fast

We’ve only had her a few months and this is the first time we’ve seen her in this position. She looks so sad. Is she resting? Or does this mean she is sick?
🥺

My sweet girl. She's been through so much in the last few months when I couldn't see her or do much except change her water while she moulted. This looks like shell rot to me, and she surely can't molt again anytime soon - what do I do? Thanks for the love, she's the best.

Need Informations

Hello there,

I have questions about my crayfish because I still cannot understand if this is a CPO or else.

Here is the buddy : Barnabé.

I bought him at a pet store back a month and a half ago as CPO Crayfish. From head to tail without claws, he is around 8cms. With claws, 10cms.

Barnabé has been eating my poor plants, even the thick ones and I had to strip them all off my 200 liters tank.

Now, my questions are :

If not CPO, what is Barnabé?

If CPO, he is BIG.

On a big man like him, what tips could you share for his feeding? I have wood fiber wafers for him, or Axolotl wafers, any recommendations ?

I am here for any further questions, I just want the best for him. Thanks!

Photo My geriatric Lousiana cray emerged from a rough, months-long molt. What does she need?

Hand for scale to show her age, she's right against the glass in the first photo. She's lost at least a limb and a half, has dark spots around some joints and in the middle of one main claw, and her antennae must have gotten stuck in the molt or been snipped off. The half leg is not a clean cut and I worry about bacteria.

Currently the PH, ammonia etc are good but my water changes may not have kept everything steady enough during her molt, there were some brief ammonia spikes I had to take care of. During water changes I've been adding aqueon shrimp essentials as well as API's aqua essentials. She's had chunks of cuttlebone in there the whole time, and ate one as soon as she came out.

She's eating, active, social, and 100% the crayfish she always was behaviorally speaking. Thoughts?

Science Color changes?

I'm trying to understand the cycle in which crayfish change color. I understand diet can affect their coloration, but does season play a part? I've seen images of one species being muddy brown to bright blue and a deep red. Are these seasonal mating changes?

I got very lucky with this pair. Both turned out to males and they've been coexisting with each and my green rili and snails very well! Besides the bladder snail snack (which is what they're for) they've been super peaceful 🩵

I do wonder why my bigger of the two is paler than my other, if anyone has any ideas? Just genetics?
