I love how Fran knows that loudmouth isn´t worth her time, but the moment he insulted Shishou is time to throw hands.

Hopefuly that duel with Amanda will show everyone that Fran is the real deal.

First time watcher

Welp, the duel with Amanda sure helped to everyone respecting Fran strength more, but also they see her now as an arsonist in the making XD.

All those adventurers ended being more competent than I expected.

Amanda gives Fran a lesson in the magic system of this world and gets curry as a reward, the highest symbol of Fran´s trust and gratitude.

And that unlocks a new fascination for Fran, biri biri, I mean thunder magic.

Chekhov´s gun moment, when they mentioned earlier that there where unequip traps I knew that one whould end up separating Fran and Shishou. Let´s see next chapter how they get out of this predicament.

Questions for the day:

  1. Not the slightest idea.

  2. For sure a good staple in any rpg dungeon.

  3. Yep, Amanda is a good teacher.

  4. That fire magic they didn´t allow Fran to use sure could have helped.

  5. Tricky and distracting one for sure ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Maybe the rank can fool everyone.

gets curry as a reward

Worth it! (No, I'm not a bit jealous. Actually, I'm really not - the only time I ever had curry, it didn't really do anything for me.)

Tricky and distracting

Uh, I guess. If you're into that sort of thing. (PTSD flasbacks of Lord of the Rings and Shelob...)

rewatcher, subs

I think it's been mentioned before, but this anime has some incredible background art. The first and second layers of the dungeon are simply breathtaking.

Obviously the upper levels of the dungeon are going to be easier, so everyone is basically doing mundane routine clearing. But instead of just flying through these levels, we get to see the parties' ideal run-of-the-mill teamwork, while we listen to a podcast about the lore of the power system. It's such a nice combination, where two things that could get lengthy and/or be boring get combined into a sequence which flows so well it grips your attention and doesn't let go until it is over. Oh and it gives our murder kitten more tools to brutalize her enemies, that's always a plus hehe.

And here we go, Chekhov's Disarming + Teleportation Trap is here. Someone seems to have messed with the dungeon at the beginning of the episode, and now an unusually strong enemy made the dungeon deadlier than a guild-controlled one is supposed to be.

QOTD:

Who is this guy with the potion?

At this point there's a few options. Fran has ruffed the feathers of Alessa's nobility, caused uproar in the adventuring world, someone else in the participants could be a target, or the dungeon itself might be a target - as was stated last episode - control of dungeons is sought out by countries because of the loot that spawns in them thanks to the dungeon core.

Do insectoids are the quite ideal dungeon creatures?

They're definitely staple creatures of the dungeon world. However they might be giving their irl counterparts a bad name, most of them are chill guys hanging in a corner catching pesky insects (at least from around where I'm from haha).

What do you think of Amanda's lesson on the combat system? Was this clearly understandably explained?

I wouldn't be surprised if she also did some teaching as a part of her duties at the orphanage.

Is there a way to break through this spider swarm?

Just burn it down! Who needs materials anyway.

So it's a deeper conspiration from an unknown party.

So Allsand might have a hand in this as "that unknown party".

Y'know, you're right - some of this stuff has a downright 90's OAV feel to it.

Oh and it gives our murder kitten more tools to brutalize her enemies, that's always a plus hehe.

I have to say, Fran's vocalization of that gives me vibes of a certain other series, right?

most of them are chill guys hanging in a corner catching pesky insects (at least from around where I'm from haha).

Yer not from Australia, are ya, mate?

Fran of the Day submission:

Oh, that's a good one!

However they might be giving their irl counterparts a bad name, most of them are chill guys hanging in a corner catching pesky insects (at least from around where I'm from haha).

It's pretty neat that irl spider lore is such that the bigger more intimidating looking ones are actually beneficial to have around, as they catch the smaller (and actually deadlier ones if bitten) unassuming spiders. There's a common spider found in homes here in Australia that isn't dangerous to humans or intimidating at all (common name Daddy-long-legs lol), but they are great at catching red-back spiders. Orbweavers are also pretty cool (often have such beautiful patterns and colours) and useful in the garden to keep mosquitoes under control. I must admit I have freaked out a couple of times having walked into their web and got a faceful of spood 😬😅

5

u/zeltheturtl https://myanimelist.net/profile/zeltheturtl 22d ago

Hah I figured I'd summon someone from Australia with the spider comment xd. Yep I've heard of the bigger spiders eating the dangerous ones, awesome creatures.

But a random spider web to the face can be a bit nasty, I agree with that as well xd.

I like how she immediately went to use thunder magic. Can't trust fran with power

Rewatcher-Subbed

Most of this episode ends up being exposition on what are arts, skills and magic. Mostly standard stuff. The most interesting thing Amanda mentioned with magic is how the 4 foundation ones can combine to create advanced magic like thunder. I think the aspect I liked the best is that Fran was asking Amanda herself rather than Shishou.

Though the episode leaves us at a point where for the first time Fran & Shishou are separated. I am more concerned for Fran here.

A good space for character development.

Rewatcher, subs

I should have waited an episode! They gave me all the answers I forgot haha.

  1. No idea who he guy with the potion is and I just watched it .who do you mean? The party is the dragons roar guy?

2.i prefer slimes as the ideal dungeon monster..as well as goblins

3.yup she was very clear. Was nice

  1. Massive fireball! Explosion!! Clearly

5.Being able to plant and change traps is a crazy ability .I guess it depends on how long it takes to do that for in combat

3

u/Elimin8r https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ayeka_Jurai 22d ago

I sense a theme here...

Explosion!!

Too bad she's in another series, right? Or perhaps Fran could re-allocate all those ability points, right?

3

Why not Zoltraak?

Questions for the day

  1. Who is this guy with the potion?

Seems like a new player in the game? Fran seems to be organically collecting friends, but also collecting enemies 😾

  1. Do insectoids are the quite ideal dungeon creatures?

They seem so - they may be individually less intimidating (there are exceptions of course!) but they come in varying sizes, can set traps and immobilise victims, are able to swarm their prey, and are prolific breeders so they have a numbers advantage.

  1. What do you think of Amanda's lesson on the combat system? Was this clearly understandably explained?

Holy magic-system dump Batman! I don't blame Fran for having lesson overload/getting overwhelmed. But I did appreciate the explanation.

  1. Is there a way to break through this spider swarm?

If only there was some kind of elemental magic that their webs are weak to 🤔... oh wait their webs are valuable loot and shouldn't be incinerated? Fran of the day

  1. Do the Trickster Spider turns out to be a worthy opponent?

Oh no, something more dangerous than a Trick spider - the Trickster Spider! (lol). The size alone seems formidable, but I'm curious as to what might be so tricky about this opponent!

Rewatcher, subbed

I'm sharing Fran's excitement and can't wait to see her go biribiri!

Our party's making good progress through the dungeon but some things definitely feel off and there's no denying once they get to the bottom floor. Well atleast it's an opportunity for Fran to win over some more people with her healing powers.

Nasty cliffhanger though with Fran and Shishou getting seperated.

QotD:

Who is this guy with the potion?

Just a random hobo with his glowing liquor.

Do insectoids are the quite ideal dungeon creatures?

I'm partial to skeletons but they do a fine job.

What do you think of Amanda's lesson on the combat system? Was this clearly understandably explained?

The system feels a bit convoluted but she did a good job explaining.

Is there a way to break through this spider swarm?

Do the Trickster Spider turns out to be a worthy opponent?

They certainly were enough to push back out dungeon party. Although the large numbers certainly helped there.

Gives new meaning to wanting to Raid the dungeon right?

3

Imagine them just walking through there and everyone with a spray can in each of their hands.

Who knows?

Do the skeletons reciprocate?

First-timer student

Looking at that skill list and the episode title, why do I feel traps are coming...

Thanks for the info, Amanda-sensei-kaasan. Clearly why she learned Wind is because she's free as the wind~

Force-unequip actually completely cripples Fran, since so much of her skills come from Shishou.

Erm...speaking of force-unequip.

Oh no, it's Kumoko!

Does that mean we're going to see a hyper-buffed Amanda next episode?

QotD:

  1. Isn't he another Dragon's Roar member? Oh the other guy with the potion. Uh...suspicious figure who is against the guild, so probably actually another country's agent.

  2. As Kumoko would tell you, yes.

  3. Honestly, I think a lot of these were questions I briefly saw coming up in previous days' threads. So that definitely helps.

  4. Faiyaball!

  5. Honestly, I'm not sure exactly what base skills Fran has on her own. So it's kinda hard to tell, but that force unequip absolutely craters her power.

2

u/Elimin8r https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ayeka_Jurai 22d ago

Oh no, it's Kumoko!

Eh, Kumoko is much more pleasant and has a better singing voice. Cuter too, right?

2

u/TnAdct1 22d ago

Oh no, it's Kumoko!

If only it was Gratia (considering Fran's seiyuu)

2

u/TheDanubianCommunard 21d ago

Oh no, it's Kumoko!

An evil counterpart of her.

Force-unequip actually completely cripples Fran, since so much of her skills come from Shishou.

Maybe it's time for Fran to get her own skills and not being shared from Shishou?

3

u/Cyouni 21d ago

An evil counterpart of her.

Isn't that just normal Kumoko?

Maybe it's time for Fran to get her own skills and not being shared from Shishou?

Did actually save her against the Greater Demon, at least. Though now that I think about it, being able to dupe Skill Taker without having the massive cooldown is pretty crazy.

u/Elimin8r https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ayeka_Jurai 22d ago

Working from memory here, since I binged the rest last night (couldn't help myself, so yummy!)

1) Uh, it puts the potion on the skin? Oh, wait, wrong show! I dunno, but he looks awfully sus!

2) Uh, bogz. Mongo no like bogz. Needs moar gobbo, but then again, they got wiped out in the last dungeon, so ... yeah.

3) Amanda is second best shishou and best defender of the children, right?

4) Fire. KILLITWITHFIRE!!!

5) Trickster spider? I dunno. At least she isn't voiced by Aoi Yuuki, because that would be a tragedy.

Otherwise, fun stuff, nice to see the gang showing off their various strengths, even the "comic relief" brigade.

:)

3

u/random_lyric 22d ago

it puts the potion on the skin

Some fava beans might go well with the curry 🤭

3

u/TheDanubianCommunard 21d ago

At least she isn't voiced by Aoi Yuuki, because that would be a tragedy.

Imagine she was casted for the Trickster Spider, now she would do some really nasty spider noises.

Second-time watcher and your host, subs

Seems like this dungeon looks like any kind of dungeon what would you expect. Lots of monsters, traps, very deep and complex layout with multiple floors. Actually at first glance it does not seems like quite hard to absolve. The adventurers are actually not that incompetent weaklings then I expected at before. They can work together, they can hold their ground, their powers and skills are actually somewhat decent. Looks like they are useful helpers. Regarding the spiders, they are not strong or durable, but they are making up with their numbers and the poisonous acid. Of course this is a dungeon, it also needs a safe/respite point, where adventurers can rest or safely retreat in dire needs.

But the dungeon boss ois a Trickster Spider, which is a highly evolved spider creature, a stronger Trick Spider. Can create or manipulate traps anytime, basically very annoying creature to deal with. And there is the forced teleportation with the forced unequip. Fran and Shishou separated, which means cornered situation.

1) Who is this guy with the potion?

Somebody who is up to no good and trying to tamper with the dungeon.

2) Do insectoids are the quite ideal dungeon creatures?

Yes, an abandoned place like this is an ideal ecosystem to create a growth an insectoid population like spiders.

3) What do you think of Amanda's lesson on the combat system? Was this clearly understandably explained?

She explains it perfectly. It might have multiple layers, parts and aspects, but it's not that complicated.

4) Is there a way to break through this spider swarm?

There is a way.

5) Do the Trickster Spider turns out to be a worthy opponent?

As it is quite intelligent and strong, yes.
