Pandora First-Timer, subbed
Oh lol, I used the comment face just because it has a flower in it, but then Oz is clearly immediately crushing on Sharon, so…
Okay I vaguely remembered that the possessed Gilbert did something bad to Oz, but I did not remember that was literally stabbing him in the chest.

I did not remember that was literally stabbing him in the chest.
The show can legitimately be violent at times. There a reason manga fans called it "Pandora Hurts" while the manga was ongoing.
Man I love Yuki Kajiura’s music
It sets such a scene and ambience I cant imagine the show without it honestly.
Alright, the plot’s in motion.
I feel from here on things start to pick up more and we see more character moments. The first 2 episodes really were just an introduction the world.

Yeah, me too. If we ever get a remake I hope Kajiura is still a part of it.

Why the ptsd?
I should make it clear I do not hate his voice at all, my brain just refuses to disconnect it from this fucker so I get Bokurano-induced trauma whenever I hear him in anything.

I would say GO UNINSTALL NOW! , but I'm pretty sure you don't want to go watch an even more depressing mecha series than Iron-Blooded Orphans right after finishing that, so...
(And that's me talking about the "tame" version of Bokurano, the manga version of it's even more depressing. It's good, but not for the faint of heart.)

That’s a lot of flowers.
Yeah, I'd get allergies so bad!
Oh lol, I used the comment face just because it has a flower in it, but then Oz is clearly immediately crushing on Sharon, so…
Eesh…
Ishida Akiraaaaaaaaaa
Break is such a troll; I can't imagine him played by anyone else.
Okay I vaguely remembered that the possessed Gilbert did something bad to Oz, but I did not remember that was literally stabbing him in the chest.
Nice!
There's a reason I picked that clip to preview PH!
Man I love Yuki Kajiura’s music.
Me too!
Damn, I forgot about this too.
... Is he dead?
Alright, the plot’s in motion.
fansubs ... But yes, the plot picks up from here.

First-time
Sharon looks like a very loveable young lady, but she has a more serious and smug side by being allied to Break. She could be an ideal bethrothal target for Oz I guess. As expected of a Hanakana character.
The ceremony going as planned, but an unknown party watches from behind, probably because they are quite interested in what secrets might Oz holds. Well, actually the ceremony goes smoothly, but there is something suspicious, something that is not supposed to happen: the clock moving when he recited the oath. And maybe it is an obvious sign for Alice to break free from her imprisonment which makes her lonely. She yearns for company, and also willng to meet her "boyfriend" once again.
Gilbert was a traitor after all. He was spying on Oz all the time. So this event was foreshadow back in the previous episode. Oz and his existence is acually indeed very special, and that is what irritates others. Guess the agents of Abyss are indeed came to him. But his "girlfriend" objects to this - she says Oz belongs to her, nobody else, and those who stands in her way have to punish them. That is Alice's way of love. B-Rabbit is her combat form.
What will Sharon and Break do, will they help Oz or not?
A very typical Kajiura msuic plays during the combat scene, Kara no Kyoukai and Fate Zero flashbacks come back for real.
I am already saying right now, I see some romance subplot here.
Kawasumi and Hanakana casted for the female leads, I feel some Zegapain vibes here.
1) What do you make of the B-Rabbit?
It would be the best if it was a mecha form.
2) What could Oz possibly have done to be condemned like that?
He did nothing wrong. Must have been known some forbidden knowledge or that clock I guess.
3) Why did Gil shield the Reaper leader?
Because he is controlled by them.

Ara ara? Is she the villainess?

Just like in the prophecy?

Not sure that Gil is a traitor; he's being controlled by Zwei's Dledum.

Tsundere? Yandere? not sure
What will Sharon and Break do, will they help Oz or not?
Hopefully they'll rescue him!

I think he had broken free, or the girl/B-Rabbit had attacked the Reapers so they were no longer controlling Gil at that point. Hmm.

I cant say too much now. Like last episode this feels like an introduction to everything but with more questions being posed here. I do enjoy the mysteries being set up. Such as why has Oz been attacked? Who's this person protecting Oz and why? Whos the person Gil shielded and why? Find out next time on the next exciting episode of Dragon Ball Z.
Though I will say I do feel from here onwards we get to see more character interactions and the story moves faster. These initial episodes really are just an intro into everything imo.

Yes, this is an introduction, but it has major vibes and I'm liking it! A great hook to make people want to keep watching. The mysteries are top notch! Why Oz? Who is this girl? Why did Gil shield the Reaper leader? Yeah, find out next time lol.
Yeah, once Oz gets dropped into Abyss, the story picks up.

It still doesn't quite grab me, but definitely better than the first episode. The preview makes the next episode look like a lot more will get explained too. And Gil really can't catch a break, can he? This time, he was (accidentally) slashed with a sword, and assuming that was him at the end of the episode, seems to have been suddenly aged a fair bit. Is all the combat in the show as stilted as this episode, or does it improve, and how much of it is there? I don't mind being spoiled on this, if anyone feels like answering. Also, I'm going to guess against the obvious answer, and say that Gil shielded the Reaper leader because it was somehow Oz's uncle, because that would be a nice twist - either a clone, or the version of the uncle performing the ceremony was an imposter using magic as an alibi.

There are a bunch of mysteries in this show, that's for sure. Hopefully some answers soon?

This isn't primarily a combat anime, it's more about the mystery and horror vibes. There will be some action, but nothing super special / sakuga.

First Timer
ep 2
I peaced-out before the ED had finished yesterday. It's by savage genius! Gee, where have I written that band name down before....Simoun!
Crazy theory: The disaster already happened, the grave is empty, Oz exists within the black sphere but had forgotten his life outside.
- This Sharon is very suspicious...
- Oops. That's a crime.
- Okay, crazy theory was wrong.
- Everybody from doll-land is psychotic
- He is the key to doll-land taking over the world
- It was Dad (because Oscar should have been in the church)

Stabbing someone doesn't exactly scream "Friendship" to me, but you do you
Welp, as expected, that didn't go very well for Oz! Honestly, maybe quite a bit worse than I'd imagined, depending on how I'm supposed to take the ending of the episode? On the whole, while obviously much more dramatically eventful, this also feels like more of a leading and mystery build up episode, so not a ton to say for it besides, well, questions haha, but most of what I liked about the first one still stands! Again, the atmosphere is just great, which adds a really strong air to the drama and mystery here, and I am pretty engaged with all the buildup right now and excited to see how said mystery plays out!
Oz hard crushing on Sharon is very cute and amusing, and I still think the transition into a more serious mood is handled pretty well. Interested to see what the connection between Sharon's family (And specifically Break, apparently) and Oz is, and also what the "Untold power" of Oz's family that Sharon talks about is supposed to be. The mood shift towards ominous and dramatic essentially starts right from the moment she mentions it and Oz needing to remember those by his side, so evidently there are some important future implications there, maybe even exactly for whatever being sent to the Abyss means for him.
Small thing, but the episode has a decent few shots with windows or reflections, but Oz's specifically have this pretty boxed-in framing in relation to the ceremony, which kind of nicely adds weight to the implications behind it. Anyway, really not sure what to make of this before she shows up, but Ayako Kawasumi's character (B-Rabbit? I can't tell if that's supposed to be her name, or just the giant rabbit lol) is already really awesome! She's also kind of crazy, but y'know, the fun kind! For various reasons! I do wonder what exactly Oz being her "key" means, though. The fight that ends up happening is pretty wooden in animation, but just the innate coolness of a dark rabbit with a giant scythe, combined with Yuki Kajiura OST, certainly helps a lot. I really like this one visual for the Abyss, very freaky.
Regardless, I guess Oz gets Abyss'd? That doesn't sound particularly fun either way, but I think the character we see at the end of the episode is supposed to be an older Gilbert? Which would leave many questions! Namely, how he recovered from the sword slash, what the aftermath ended up being, how he feels about the whole thing (Given his body was technically partially responsible for what happened to Oz), and most critically, how long has it been? Probably-Gil aside, Sharon and Break admittedly kind of look the same to me, but the chapel looks pretty damn overgrown, so I'm thinking it's been a while. Which, putting aside how exactly one rescues Oz, again makes me wonder what being in the Abyss means, and especially how exactly unpleasant being there for a long time would be.
All that aside, this show is lining up to have a voice cast I really like! Sharon is HanaKana! Break is Akira Ishida playing his classic "Enigmatic and hot" typecast, which is a real favorite of mine lol. And he only gets like a sentence here, but I'm pretty sure that's Kousuke Toriumi on the character I think is older Gilbert, and I also always love his distinct voice!
Very cool
Just kind of adore the whole dark fairy tale aesthetic it has going on!
Existing, clearly!
More seriously though, being apparently condemned just for his existence, together with the idea of being a chosen one in a prophecy, kind of makes me think it might be about what he might do or could lead to, rather than something that he has done already? Like, either a negative prophecy, where he somehow leads to a really bad outcome, or a prophecy where those Reaper guys are foiled by him.
He got to see his face, and it looks like it's someone he really thinks Oz shouldn't hurt, so I'll throw out my current bet on Oz's dad. It would also explain his absence from the ceremony.
