Secure Boot disabled

Post image

Hello everyone,

I installed Call of Duty on my pc and to be able to play it said I needed to update my BIOS version so I did that, I tried to play again and then it said the same but something else aswell "secure boot needs to be enabled". Well turns out that when I installed the newer BIOS version, it disabled secure boot. I have tried for 2 hours to turn this back on, but nothing works.

In the image above you can see that secure boot is enabled BUT it's greyed out, loading the HP factory default keys also didn't work after restarting twice.

At this point I genuinely have no idea what to do and I do not wanna mess with the TPM settings, can anyone help me?

System information:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4600G

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650

RAM: 16GB DDR4

Windows 11

TMP 2.0, ready to use

HP system

Is your hard drive formatted as MBR or GPT? Secure boot requires GPT on the boot drive. If it is MBR you can convert it using MBR2GPT (built into windows), or by reinstalling windows after a clean format.

Its not about secure boot disabled, Your factory keys are gone while you updating your bios for some reason, Click load HP Factory default keys then check windows updates to update your dbx. Also hiii, Have a nice day you too.

Edit: Also dont forget to save with f10 after loading keys.

Yeah that's the weird thing, I did that and then when i went to check the bios again, it just reset again to what it was before.

If you cant save it using f10 either bios or secure boot is corrupted, try sbctl it if it shows setup mode in 'sbctl status' using linux enroll with microsoft keys(basically what it does is enrolls new keys to your secure boot) also I suggest backup your keys if you use sbctl OR show it to a technician.

sbctl is open source program for linux used for enrolling secure boot keys. Its stupid simple so hard task for you is installing linux. But you have to make sure secure boot is in setup mode using "sbctl status" before enrolling keys. linux have live usb distros too which allows booting from usb without changing your system. You can try one.

Early Edit: OR show it to a technician.

Yes but like I said nothing is guaranteed. But this is an option you have to choose. Maybe try to reinstall BIOS update if you can, Maybe downloaded bios file was corrupted or its corrupted while updating OR you can try to take out CMOS battery and discharge your computer then put it back.

Edit: OR show it to a technician.

Edit2: Dont forget to backup your secure boot keys if its worked. Typically its in /var folder

So sadly turns out that by updating my bios, HP removed support for some functions which means I cannot access it. I will contact HP support tomorrow for a resolution. Thank you again for the help!
