I've had this pile of ff7 concept art in a folder for a long, long time. Figured I'd finally do something with it, and got around to make this materia shop that can be found in Wall Market.
This... uh... was... initially supposed to serve as an example for some students about gradient texturing. Then it also became a lesson about the spin modifier. Then it just completely took over my life to a point where I was like "wait what's point of this again".
In the end, I mean, if I'm honest, I think the shader and compositor are doing most of the heavy lifting. But I thought it was kind of a fun piece to work with. Mostly because... I kinda feel once you're in the workflow zbrush - painter/designer - baking etc, it's just kinda nice to be 'mashing out models'.

So i just completed my Gshock model. I made it primarily for a advert i am creating for it. But i have heard from some people that one can sell these kinds of models on internet. Is it possible and can this model be sold like that? Maybe i get a good burger out of it😂

I mainly have been using Fusion for creating more architectural/geometric shapes, but I wanted to try experimenting with the form tool as well. Fusion doesn't really do tris or polys that well when making curves, so if I imported this into Blender, their count would probably be really high. This took about 2 hours or so.
Any tips on how to make it better would be very much appreciated.

hi, I wanted to ask opinion about what should I focus on a portfolio because I have 2 ideas and cant decide on wich one
I want to make 3D renders and content for my portfolio focused on realism first, and them making stylized stuff later, so first starting with the "basics" and them going into more stylized stuff when I see myself as good enough for it
the thing is that besides 3d modelling and such, I also want to try to make games myself, was thinking on making a simple visual novel or point-and-click since they consist of static images so I was thinking I could make renders to use as assets
so I got the idea of making realistic 3D renders and assets that can be shown in my portfolio as practique, and them use them for the game, however since realistic 3D takes much longer than stylized 3D I was also thinking that maybe is best to make stylized 3D for the game later and first focus on stuff to showcase skills on the portfolio
so the 2 options I was thinking and its pros and cons are:
1- creating realistic stuff focused on the game, pros be that all the stuff made can be used for the game so will do "2 things at the same", cons be that it will be focused on one "theme"
2-focusing the portfolio on realistic stuff first, pros be that can do varios stuff instead on focusing on one "theme", like say some mechanical stuff and some organic stuff, or some archviz and other stuff etc, cons is that will need to make new assets if I want to make that game idea, even if in a more simpler stylized style
the game idea I have is a horror like game, so assets will include monsters, scenarios and props though obviously will use assets from sites like polyhaven etc, and maybe some humans characters, will be short like those games you may find on itchio and the like
so I will like to hear opinions on what is the best course, if focusing on stuff that shows various skill for a portfolio, or just using all the assets made for the game as the content of the portfolio even if is just one "theme"
thanks in advance

I want to create diamond like this in a procedural way. I know I can place it manually, but it was time consuming. Does anyone know how to achieve this using any software?

Desk organisers are exciting to design: although they must remain functional, they offer great creative freedom.
When I designed ‘Eden’, I wanted to create a two-part model:
The ‘classic’ part: a tray in which you can arrange your chosen stationery, accompanied by a pencil pot.
A side panel as a creative expression: all curves, yet ‘useful’ thanks to its two deep pockets with curved bases, and featuring an ‘organic’ texture in specific areas.
• Support-free printing for the entire piece.
• Two parts to print in total: the base and the front panel. The way they slot together has been very carefully designed. You can see these details in the cross-sections, where I mention the assembly ‘clearances’ (see ‘technical cross-sections’ photo).
• Overall dimensions when assembled: 20.4 cm (W) × 15.8 cm (D) × 25.8 cm (H)
• Compartments:
â—¦ Base: a pencil pot and a tray divided into two sections by a soft divider.
â—¦ Front panel: two deep storage pockets [e.g. ideal for a smartphone, notes or cards].

i found that if lowpoly is same size as highpoly (too shrinkwrapped) then shading will be disgusting on bake. So i've tried to make hole smaller (first image) and bigger (second image). So, where's better shading: on first image or second? i'm trying to understand if on first image it's possibly to notice that hole smaller than it should be like on highpoly. On second image you can see that black line around hole and it looks bad. On third image is highpoly

Hello, everyone!
Here's the first piece of my updated portfolio. This is a Tabako Bon with Kiseru, it's a game ready 3D asset. It's box where tobacco was stored with an ashtray built in. I added a classic Japanese smoking pipe in this called Kiseru as well. This was to show my texturing skills.

For a long time, I'd been making stuff with a client first mentality. ie. it needs to pay for the time. This time though, I just made one of the starter three for fun. I also used my own blender addon to sculpt it and to apply the vertex IDs which is the process shown in this snippet. Now he's ready for Substance Painter :D, although I think I want to try an NPR approach with Krita. Never done that before.

A Little Experiment in Creature Horror
This piece started as a quick personal project squeezed in between client jobs, but it soon turned into something much more enjoyable than expected and
sculpting the tiny creature fetus was great fun!
