I keep handwritten lists and this I made myself in canva, just based on other tier lists I saw and own preferences :)
I had some time at work and started messing around. the copy pasting and aligning was very soothing I must say

Could I get a review of dreams of amputation?? π

sure :) I replied to two comments about it in this post as well.
it's not a book I necessarily recommend or borrow to friends π one should have a high tolerance for (literary) brutality.. if u can deal with new french extremity movies, or things like SalΓ², you should be fine. the book is a psychodelic nightmare, imagining a world where humanities worst tendencies evolve to something unthinkable.
I resonated with it because the themes of isolation, escaping to an online space, the quest of constantly heightening experiences, sadistic violance, are things observable in society.. not because I think they are cool.
the book puts you through the ringer, unapologetically. the ride is not for everyone, but it spoke to me :)
hope this help

I feel like you might like Decomposition Book by Sara Van Os! I just finished last week and it was so good and it made me feel so many things. Weird girl vibes and the way it approached mental illness was amazing.

"for fans of Mona Awad, Yellowjackets, and weird girl fiction." hell yeah, sounds dope, thanks for that π

The last 100 pages really picked up but I felt getting there took forever. The first part also reminded me of so many office jobs with the weird distrustful politics. After seeing so many people love I was thinking a reread is in order.

VanderMeer's setups are excellent and challenging at times. but the things brewing underneath from the beginning of authority enticed me. happy to revisit it in the not so distant future with a different set of eyes.
don't know if u read Piranesi, but that start made me so mad and I almost didn't push though it. I didn't understand why people loved it so much. but I stood corrected, and I was so happy to have pushed through :)

Recently watched a video on Life of M. What a bizarre watch. I had never heard of Rachel Cusk or her oeuvre, but nothing that I have learned about that book has inspired me to try it.

it's really fucking stupid. I just read it because it's short and I pirated the e - book to meet my weekly quota. I am listening to the interview she did for the audiobook while being at work, so from what i gather half paying attention to it makes it a bit better...like " it's all fiction lol π€ͺ" but still... girl, u fucked over a friend...

What did you like about Authority? Iβve seen it on several peoples S tier. Itβs been my least favorite of three Iβve read.

It really shines on a reread, especially after reading the full series!

fair. I understand. I really struggled with it in the beginning, since I was missing the biologist. but then later when I got the groove of it, the horror that unfolded stayed with me. the bookshelf π« ...

I put it in my favs not because I wanted to be a freaky little edgelord (only partly), but because I resonated with the ideas presented as the logical conclusions with everything that is wrong with the world. it's brutal, challenging, sad and confusing, yet it gripped me like few books did. curios how u will cope with it.... i was just mumbling 'what the fuck' every two pages..much to the delight of my boyfriend.

We have very similar ratings for our mutual reads!
I have a few in your second tier on my tbr already. I will have to look into the first two in your top tier because I haven't seen those ones before, but love the rest of your favorites so far!

dreams of amputation is some rough and transgressive shit.. a brutal read.. but the ideas presented are in a way the most twisted logical conclusions to societal developments.
come closer is much more digestible, fast and entertaining read π€

Heart the Lover was one that took me by surprise. Not my typical read I would pick, but I saw a lot of people hyping it up. Ended up absolutely loving it!
