Discussion How often will bra size change? Spoiler

So I decided to get some bras while on vacation back home with my mom and I was a 36D and it fits fine. That’s what I was wearing. Well I went into the trial room and it didn’t fit (the new one) I struggled and came out and now I’m a 38D so I’m getting bigger or wtf. I’m only 30 and I’ve been wearing the previous size for years. And my old 36D fits. Anyway my petite mom was there to tell me to lose weight which was fun.

Different bras may fit in different sizes, some bras have stretchier bands than others. Have you used the calculator yet?

I second the calculator. You might need a bigger cup and smaller band.

Yes it’s like something was off but idk what the cup was wrong but it buttoned up

Regularly.

Some people fluctuate between sizes depending on time of the month.

Sounds like you sized up in the band when you probably needed to size up in the cup.

Use the abratharfits.org calculator.
You may find your band is smaller than 38. So you can tell your mom you lost 4 inches off your underbust without doing anything but measuring.

Yes I seemed to have gotten the wrong size. Lol 😆 why are there so many sizes. I miss being a teenager with A cups. I could fit into anything.

Weight fluctuations will change size no doubt, but also bra sizes are not consistent, so its not easy.

Also consider bra's stretch with age, they likely the piece of clothing that is most vulnerable to stretching, so if an old 36D feels right, a new 36D might feel tight.

Your bra size will change during puberty through early 20s, it will change during pregnancy, menopause and then otherwise it will change anytime your weight goes up or down by more than a couple of pounds. How much your bra size will change will depend on whether your breasts are made up of mostly fatty tissue or you have dense breast tissue - people with dense breast tissue don't have as many fluctuations with breast size changing from weight loss/weight gain (since they're not losing/gaining fat in their breasts - it's just not where they store fat). So the answer really is . . .it depends on your personal life circumstances.

But keep in mind that how a bra fits depends not just on your size but also the style of bra and the retailer. If you were trying on a demi cup bra at a retailer that runs on the small side and you're used to wearing full coverage, your usual size is going to feel extremely small. There are a lot of factors to consider - but the best thing to do is to measure yourself (using the directions from the automod calculator here) every year or two and see if your dimensions have actually changed. That will tell you if it's the bra or if it's your body.

They are not sister sizes. 38 D had a bigger cup volume. 34 DD and 38 C are sister sizes to 36 D

Definitely! Some people go up 1-3 cup sizes on their periods due to swelling.
