AITA for quitting my job effective immediately after my manager secretly changed my shift to a 13-hour workday?

I (student Junior in Hs) have been working at Zaxby's for about a month and a half. Because of my classes and other activities I attend, my availability is super rigid. My manager knows my situation, but lately, he’s been completely disrespecting my time.

First, I explicitly told him before that I cannot work Friday closings anymore. For one week, he actually listened and didn't put me on the schedule for Fridays. But right after that, he went right ahead and did it again anyway without asking me, scheduling me for multiple Friday closing shifts until 1 AM.

Then, he secretly changed my Sunday shift from 9 AM–4 PM (7 hours) to 9 AM–10 PM (13 hours) without warning me, asking me, or consulting me first. Turning a shift into a 13-hour workday right before the school week starts is completely insane and unmanageable for me. Plus, it ruins my personal routine—I pay $25/month for a gym membership to destress, and his sudden schedule changes are messing with things I actively pay for and enjoy.

My dad is a truck driver, and even his massive employer wouldn't dare add extra hours or routes without consulting him first. My manager is just being unprofessional and lazy, treating staff like numbers on a spreadsheet instead of talking to us like human beings. That's how you get crazy turnover rates.

I sent him a firm, polite text this morning (Saturday) telling him I need my Sunday shift corrected back to 4 PM and my Friday availability respected moving forward. I told myself if he doesn't reply or fix it by tonight, I’m sending an immediate resignation text and walking out.

If I quit, they are going to be short-staffed as hell tomorrow, and it might honestly cause a chain reaction where more people quit because he's screwing everyone over. I feel a little guilty about leaving my coworkers in a bind, but my education has to come first and I refuse to work shifts I never agreed to.

When I first got hired he states that he is all about communication and team support, but then I realized he rarely responds or communicates effectively with me and my crew. Also he is very absent he is on the schedule but never at the store same thing my team agrees and says the same thing.

More information without giving bias. Literally 3-4 people have others quit/gotten fired since I got hired. Not sure entirely for why but that gives more insight nevertheless.

I asked a co worker just now and he went from 25 hours to 37 out of nowhere had to go to work because he was scheduled and didn’t know.

Major update: Somebody has already left, me and TWO other employees are leaving holy shit the Roman Empire is falling apart.

Update: He changed the days and hours whats the move now? But without telling me or addressing what I said just did it in silence

WIBTA if I quit effective immediately tonight?

I will keep you guys updated!

AITA for standing by my wife when my family doesn't like her?

I (29M) have been married to my wife (27F) for two years, and honestly, things with my family have been difficult ever since we got married.

My family has never really liked my wife. At first, I thought they just needed time to get to know her, so I tried to keep everyone together and avoid arguments. But over time, their comments and behavior started to bother me more and more.

Whenever we visit my family, they sometimes make little remarks about my wife or criticize the way she does things. They rarely say anything directly cruel, but the atmosphere is uncomfortable enough that my wife notices it every time.

I've talked to my family about this before, but they usually tell me I'm being too sensitive or that my wife needs to learn how our family works. They insist they have nothing against her, but their actions don't match their words.

Recently, we had another family gathering, and one of my relatives made a comment about my wife that clearly upset her. I didn't want to let it slide this time, so I spoke up and told them that if they expected me to keep visiting, they needed to start treating my wife with respect.

My family got upset with me. My mom said I was choosing my wife over the people who raised me, and another relative told me that marriage shouldn't mean abandoning your family.

My wife appreciated that I defended her, but she also feels guilty because she doesn't want to be the reason I have problems with my family. I've told her that she isn't responsible for their behavior, but the situation is still putting a strain on everyone.

I love my family, and I don't want to lose my relationship with them. At the same time, my wife is my partner, and I don't think she should have to tolerate disrespect just to keep the peace.

Now I'm wondering if I handled things the wrong way. Should I have stayed quiet and dealt with it privately, or was I right to set boundaries with my family?

AITA for standing by my wife even though it has caused problems with my family?

AITA for not inviting my cousin to my birthday dinner

I planned a small birthday dinner with a few close friends and family members. I didnt want anything big this year, just a quiet evening with people I enjoy spending time with

The problem is my cousin found out about it and asked why she wasnt invited. We arent really close and whenever we meet she usually makes little comments about my job and personal life

I told her I was keeping the dinner small but she said that was just an excuse and accused me of leaving her out on purpose

Now some relatives are saying I should have invited her to avoid drama, but I dont think being related means someone has to be invited to everything

I just wanted one peaceful birthday without awkward comments

AITA for not inviting my cousin?

AITAH for wanting complete silence in a movie?

Last night I took my girlfriend to watch Sense and Sensibility. Everything was fine in the first 10-15 minutes of the movie, until an entire group of about 7 people came in already being obnoxious and sit directly next to me. By the time they were done adjusting their seats and wrapping up their conversations, there was a very brief moment of silence. Most of them were respectful, and I really don’t care about eating sounds or the occasional talking in the ear, but this one dude was an absolute nightmare. Constantly re adjusting his seat, talking and making jokes, showing text messages to the girl next to me, flailing his arms in the air at certain moments, calling the women on screen “bitches” and could not see a romantic scene without pointing out “the sexual tension”.

Is this how going to the movies are now? Maybe I might be tweaking, but how do you show up late to the movie and then talk through it the whole time?? Just to say as you’re dancing out of the theater that you couldn’t understand what they were saying half the time. I don’t know man.

AITA for refusing to share my note with my college classmate

It's been 2 months since I started my 1st year of college. I didn't know no-one from my promo.

On the 1st week a girl approached me, she's new in the country, she's from Tunisia. At the beginning she'd ask for my notes, and I'd send them every time after class.

But over time I noticed that she'd come to class, sit next to me, open her laptop or notebook, but she'd write nothing down. But every weekend she'll ask me to send her my notes.

I like helping people but, I feel like she's taking advantage of me. I spend more than 3h writing down stuff and then another hour at home organising my notes, while she spends all classes lounging and doing nothing.

On top of that, we were paired up in a bi-weekly duo project for the whole semester, but she doesn't take any initiatives. I'm the one who always looks up the subjects we have to present every week.

Now I'm considering not sending anything, and play the forgetful. But the project I'll have to do it anyways, because the teacher doesn't care who does what.

So AITA for refusing to send her my notes?

AITH if I don’t want to go to thanksgiving

• Upvotes

things with my family have been rough this year. I had a baby and the day I went into labor my sibling announced their pregnancy. while I was pregnant my brother didn't ask a thing about the baby until my third trimester and his wife never asked. suddenly, right before they started asking my mom when they could see the baby. when I asked why they suddenly were so interested I got hateful messages from my brother and it cam out they just wanted to have the spotlight to announce their pregnancy. they visited us in the hospital, but despite living a few miles a way never visited again until baby was 6 months and they needed to drop off furniture to make room for their nursery.

In this time my mom asked me not to talk to her about the situation because she didn’t want to be in the middle. turns out she had been letting them talk about it though and when she started babysitting when I would tell the baby I loved him she’d talk in a baby voice and say, “whatever mama”. i texted my bros wife after a stressful situation and my mom brought it up to me and I said, “ yeah I’m not a terrible person” and she said, “according to you”. and other things that would make this even longer.

it all came to a head when my bro and husband ran into each other and decided that we would go to their home and bring them bread. my sil texted their neighbor was over but we decided on a time we could go over. an hour before that time my bro said neighbor was still there but he’d text when they were leaving. I thought at most 30 minutes after the agreed upon time. time comes and goes, 1.5 hours after the time they said neighbor was gone. this no longer worked for us so we said we’d try another time. my husband was upset and texted my brother he was disappointed because this has happened multiple times and he should be a better brother and uncle. my brother didn’t respond to him but told my parents and my parents hyped to his defense by saying the text was “awful” and that I’m selfish, rigid, have too many rules(no kissing because of cold sores and no screen time for baby), difficult, that my expectations are too high, and I’m sure other things. my mom then got in a fight with my husband and told us she wouldn’t watch the baby and we had to last minute scramble for childcare the next day. they demanded that I call them despite me being at work, and then sent horrible texts the next day.

I told them I needed time to think before I got into a full conversation and I’d reach out when ready. they determined this was taking too long and came over to talk. I explained what my husband and I discussed for further communication, apologized for what I felt was my role, and told them what I needed for communication. they doubled down on all my personality flaws, said my husband has bad intentions and told me they could not provide what I needed communication wise. all texts since have been turned into fights, where they have also added that the anxiety I get when I see their names on my phone is because I have bad behavior and am playing games… they’re now texting like everything is fine expecting us to come to thanksgiving and giving a list of everyone who will be there. my husband is not comfortable, I am not either but know if I don’t go things will get worse.

AITA: Not Sharing Nail Clippers

Am I the asshole?

I, 19F, don’t like sharing stuff with my sister in terms to hygienic stuff like razors or nail clippers. My 12F sister likes to use my razors or my loofah and it’ll give me ingrowns and acne (because when I use it on my own, its fine). My mom always defends her and says to calm down.

Today, she wanted to use my nail clippers because she lost hers. She has a history of getting toe fungus and I told her she can use it on her hand nails, not her toenails due to the history of that. My mom got pissed at me and called me a b*tch and said I made stupid excuses and need to talk to her nicer.

Am I the asshole here? I’m so tired. Ik its little stuff but things build up.

AITH for asking my roommate to pay for her boyfriend’s share of the utilities?

I (26F) have lived with my roommate “Maya” (25F) for about two years. We split rent and utilities 50/50, and it has always worked well. We were not best friends, but we were respectful and honest with each other. About five months ago, Maya started dating a guy named Ryan. At first he came over on weekends, which was completely fine with me. Over time, it became almost every day. Now he is here from the afternoon until late at night, showers here, cooks here, and works from our living room on his laptop. He has even started keeping some of his clothes in our hallway closet. Our electricity and water bills have gone up a lot. Last month the total was almost 40% higher than usual. I did not say anything at first because I thought it might be a one-time thing, but it has continued for three months now. Last week I talked to Maya. I stayed calm and told her that I was happy for her, but that I did not think it was fair for me to pay half of the increase when Ryan was basically living here. I suggested that either he contribute a small amount each month, or we limit his visits to a few days a week. Maya was very upset. She said I was treating her boyfriend like a “guest I have to charge,” and that it was embarrassing for her to ask him for money. She also said I was being petty over “a few extra dollars.” I told her it was not about the money itself, it was about fairness, and that I had not agreed to share my home with a third person. She stopped talking to me after that and has barely spoken to me for the last five days. Since then, a mutual friend told me that I am being cold and that I should have just accepted it because “that is what happens when your roommate is in a relationship.” Now I am doubting myself. Maybe I overreacted and should have let it go. So, AITH?

AITAH for thinking my girlfriend's best friend moving in with us is a terrible idea?

I'm a 36-year-old male raising two kids, ages 2 and 6, with a third on the way next year.
My girlfriend's best friend has three kids, ages 7, 8, and a newborn of 8 months. She's dealing with infidelity in her marriage, and she wants to move in with us.
I called my girlfriend to discuss it. She said she'd love to have me on board, but if I don't approve, she'll make it official anyway in January.
Am I overreacting to think this is a terrible idea?

I’m building a vacation home in my home country and she said “if when you’re done building and I let you know I don’t want your dad to live with us would you say yes or no!?”

She compared her best friend my blood father

AITA for refusing to let my sister use my work discount for her entire shopping order?

I work at a clothing shop and receive a staff discount on purchases I make for myself. The discount is one of the benefits of the job, and our employee policy clearly states that it cannot be used for large purchases on behalf of other people. Last month, my younger sister asked whether I could use my discount to buy her a coat. I agreed because it was a single item, and I was happy to help her save some money. When I went to visit her afterwards, she thanked me and mentioned that she had found several other things she wanted to buy from the same shop. A few days later, she sent me a long list of clothes and accessories worth several hundred pounds and asked me to purchase everything using my staff discount. I explained that I couldn't do that because the discount was intended for personal purchases, and using it for a large order for someone else could get me into trouble at work. She said I was exaggerating and that nobody would know. I reminded her that staff purchases were monitored and that I wasn't willing to risk my job over a shopping order. I offered to let her know when the shop had a public sale, but she said the discount was the only reason she wanted to buy everything from that particular shop. The situation became more uncomfortable when she asked me to place the order anyway and said she would transfer the money to me afterwards. I refused again. She accused me of acting superior just because I had a staff discount and said I had no problem helping myself but suddenly became difficult when she needed something. I told her that I had already helped her buy the coat and that I wasn't obligated to use my employee benefits for every purchase she wanted to make. She replied that family should help each other and that I was choosing a shop's rules over my own sister. Our mum later contacted me and suggested I make an exception because my sister was trying to save money. I explained that I couldn't risk disciplinary action over something that wasn't even necessary, especially when I had offered to help her find public discounts instead. My sister is still annoyed with me, and she has told some relatives that I have become selfish since getting this job. I don't mind helping my family when I can, but I don't think that means I should ignore workplace rules or put my employment at risk. I never promised her unlimited access to my discount, and I don't understand why helping her once means I have to keep doing it whenever she asks.

AITA?

WIBTA if I buy a $120 guitar from a stranger when I’m pretty sure it’s worth way more?

(31M) My experience with playing guitar is around ten years long, and I'm a bit of a vintage equipment buff. Yesterday, while browsing some online store, I came across a posting which literally gave me a shock. It was an old electric guitar for sale for $120 with the description "old guitar, works fine, need gone."

The pictures were very poor, but I managed to make out the headstock and general body shape. I took a closer look at the serial number on the neck plate, and I'm about 85% sure that it's a model from the late 1960s worth from $2,500 to $4,000.

The seller said that it was a guitar owned by their late relative and they are trying to clean up the storage unit since they aren't going to use it themselves. They stated that "they just want it out of the way." They answered me quite quickly and seemed nice but obviously ignorant of what they had.

The thing is, I could just drive there, pay $120, say thank you, and go on my merry way. Everything about that is legal, and the owner set the price. But if I am correct, I would be taking advantage of an unsuspecting owner, and that does not sit well with me.

Should I tell him what I think of it and that it may be worth a lot more, he will likely change the listing price or give it away to someone else and ruin my opportunity to buy. I could also try to offer a decent price, say $1,500, but I will be overpaying, and quite frankly, I cannot afford that.

The last thing that worries me is the fact that I may be wrong. I could be looking at a knock-off and end up being ridiculed for thinking that I bought something valuable.

WIBTA if I bought it at that $120 and did not say anything?

AITAH for not accepting my uncles relationship with a girl I went to school with

**Sorry on beforehand for my English since it’s not my first language.**

So to start of with some background. I (20F) have lived next door to my uncle (late 40s) my whole life. This have made that we have spent a lot of time together, eating dinner, doing activities and hanging out together. A couple of years ago he broke up with his girlfriend he had been with for almost 20 years. She was a narcissist and the breakup was extremely messy. My mum helped him a lot with the process and even though he is a typical “men don’t talk about feelings” guy we have understood that it left a lot of emotional and mental trauma through his actions after wards. After this breakup he started hanging out with us even more, eating dinner with us almost everyday and coming over to drink coffee multiple times a day. Almost becoming a member of our family, if we went somewhere he tagged along. Me and him have always been very close. Hanging out and if I have needed help I’ve asked him first. I want to point out already that he has never even been the slightest bit creepy, he has been a prominent male figure and friend that has always looked out for me. It’s been a relationship I have valued deeply.

So a couple of months ago we found out he had started dating a girl(20F) I went to school with. We figured out who the car we had seen on his driveway a lot lately belonged to. It was like he knew that we knew and he immediately stopped coming over and we didn’t see each other for weeks. We thought that it was just a fling but after just like 4 weeks of seeing each other they went “official” to his and hers parents.

I feel very disgusted that he would date someone so young but also disrespected that he would do that to me if that makes sense, not like in a creepy towards me type of way but like it is shameful for me that people know and he apparently understands that it would hurt me if he stopped coming over.

In the beginning other family members also questioned his actions but since the relationship has gotten more serious the rhetoric started to sound more and more like “their both grown ups” and “it’s not like she is fourteen” and that we just kind of have to accept it. Especially my grandma, his mother. She’s very family focused and that we have to stick together and be a close family. Recently she had her birthday and she usually then invites us to dinner. This year she had the brilliant idea that we would all come including the girlfriend since according to her she is now also family and cannot be left out. When I basically said are you out of your mind she said that we can’t go on like this forever and that I’m just going to have to accept it and get over it. The girlfriend wasn’t invited since I wouldn’t have gone.

On another note I’m also a bit worried for him. He has not been able to keep girlfriends since the narcissist and during the relationships he has been very closed of to them but this girl he goes official with after just a couple of weeks and immediately starts to make modifications on his house and lawn for her. I’m worried he has “locked in with her” because she gives him what he has been “taught” is love from the narcissistic relationship. For i know this girl has been very violent with past boyfriends and friends, both emotionally and physically though I don’t really now how that plays out in a age gap relationship so if anyone has any insight on this it would be greatly appreciated.

So I would really appreciate any insight, thoughts or advice. Since we are a very close family and neighbors we can’t avoid each other how should I navigate the situation if the relationship continues and if it doesn’t since the betrayal I feel doesn’t just go away because they break up. And am i the asshole for not accepting their relationship and not wanting to talk to him to “keep the family peace”.

AITA for cutting off my best friend of 7 years after he lied to me, took my money, and then told me “who are you to ask me everything

My (19M) best friend “Danish” (name changed) and I have been close since school. That’s about 7-8 years of friendship. We were each other’s go-to person for everything.A while back, [Danish asked to borrow money from me / took money from me for X], and I gave it without hesitation because he was my best friend. [He never paid it back / he still hasn’t returned it.]Things started feeling off around the time he got close to a new friend. Then one day he told me he was going out with his family. I later found out he was actually out with Mubeen. Mubeen used to be a friend of mine too, but we drifted apart because he got into the wrong crowd and I chose to stay away from that.I wasn’t upset that he hung out with someone else. I was hurt that he lied about it. So I calmly asked him why he lied. His reply was, “Who are you to ask me everything?”After 7 years, that one sentence showed me where I stand with him. I told him I was done and stopped talking to him. Since then I haven’t made any new friends, and honestly it’s been lonely. Some people around me say I’m overreacting and that I should have let it go.But I never tried to control who he spends time with. I only wanted honesty from someone I trusted, and I got dismissed for asking.

AITAH for not planning every detail of my visit?

For this post, I (23 F) am going to use my friends’ names since they are common names: Grace and Sarah, both also 23 F. I met Grace and Sarah in college and we made a lot of good memories together. When we all graduated from a college in Ohio, I moved to Texas for a job and still live there. Both of them got hired onto jobs near our college and live within driving distance of the college (an hour max).

Back in the first week of September, I gave Grace and Sarah a heads up that I planned to visit Ohio this weekend in October. It had been a year since I had seen them and I was wanting to hang out. I would mostly be spending the time with my boyfriend, who lives very close to this Ohio college town. We had a quick 15 minute text over group chat about ideas for getting together either Friday or Saturday. We both gave our preferences. I preferred Saturday morning to get coffee or brunch together, they preferred Friday evening. Only problem with Friday, I said, was that my boyfriend had invited me on a roadtrip (day trip) to Indiana on that Friday. His brother planned to propose to his gf that Friday and my bf wanted to be there to celebrate the engagement party. I said to Grace and Sarah that I could maybe be convinced to stay back on Friday if that ended up working best. I ended the text thread with offering for them to call me to talk the planning through and that we had time to figure out plans. They knew I was about to head out of the country to go to Asia on a medical missions trip. I would be gone on this trip for 3 weeks, working hard everyday all day to help the doctors on the medical team. I give them plenty of means to contact me while I am in Asia, explaining which apps to use to communicate with me. So I am on my trip for three weeks, Sarah occasionally texts back responding to my updates and questions about how she is doing. Grace, on the other hand, all my messages to her show up as “delivered” but not “read.” I try to give her the benefit of the doubt, thinking she must be so busy with the school year starting again. I return from my 3 week long trip, and text them that I am back. I ask about when ppl want to call and plan for when I am visiting. Grace still is not responding and Sarah keeps flaking on calling me back. I even leave Grace a voicemail asking her to call me back. Sarah just tells me Grace is really busy and bad about communicating. The week I fly into town, I reach out again. Friday rolls around. It is noon and I ask to touch base for plans. Sarah says she is going to drive to Grace’s house. She told me she assumed we would all be getting together Friday. I become really frustrated because they never consulted me about my availability or whereabouts. So, AITAH for not completely planning everything? I blew up at them out of frustration for not calling me and in return they blamed me for not planning or telling them what I would be doing Friday (they did not ask me). I told them they are terrible at reaching out.

AITA for standing up to my boss in from of the owners?

Little background: I’ve worked for this restaurant for 3 years and am there everyday they open as our help isn’t much help

This all started yesterday, my boss dropped the bomb that we will be working all day on Halloween (a day we have always taken off because we all have kids) she then told us the owner will be in tomorrow to answer any of our complaints because we all got too upset to continue the conversation.

Today I come in along with my coworker and the owner is there I voice my concerns about Halloween, staffing, vacation, and a few other things. My boss started to chime in and say how we are disrespectful to her and that it’s not okay. In which I voice saying “I also feel very disrespected in this relationship” and went to list off a few reason. A few of the point I made, our owner was very shocked about. She however…. Was upset. She kept interrupting and raising her voice. I probably asked her to stop interrupting me 3 times in a matter of a minute, told asked her to stop yelling in which she replies with “you’re not listening”

Obviously, I reply with “yelling doesn’t make your point we all hear what you’re saying” and end the conversation with her because I’m not going to sit there and be talked over. Which honestly was unfortunate because the owner was looking at me clearly wanting to hear what I was trying to say.

So am I the asshole for being honest about my boss to the owners?

AITA for telling my dad he doesnt have to do everything for us

My dad has always been the kind of person who puts his family first. He works long hours and still tries to help everyone at home even when he is clearly tired

Recently I noticed he has been skipping his own plans and putting off things he wants just to make sure we have everything we need. Yesterday I told him he should start thinking about himself too instead of always making sacrifices for us

He got quiet and said taking care of his family is his responsibility. I told him I appreciate everything he does but I dont want him to spend his whole life worrying about us and forgetting his own happiness

Now Im wondering if I sounded ungrateful because I know he only does these things out of love

AITA for telling my dad to put himself first sometimes?

AITAH for getting angry with my friend for snooping through my texts with my sister and ghosting us over what she saw?

A bit long but for context my sister (21F) and I are twins and we have a friend that my sister met in our first year of university (they’re studying the same course) that we both grew super close with. We’ll call her Alberta. Fast forward two years and we go out to celebrate our birthday with Alberta and some other friends. It was great time with no issues but then the next day Alberta started ignoring us. My sister and I share a room in the hostel we all live in so our room is generally the hang out spot for all our friends and we noticed that she stopped coming by (she’s here every time she’s free so her absence was obvious). We wondered why and asked her about it but she denied it. We thought she just needed some space because she always pulls away during test and exam weeks to focus on her studies. Tests are over and we notice she’s still ignoring us. She doesn’t even sit by my sister in class anymore and now she’s hanging out with some other people. This leads to weeks of confusion and hurt over her sudden changes.

I asked our other friends if they’d noticed her behavior but no one had(this is because she knew them through us, so she doesn’t hang out with them much outside of us). One of them comes in when I’m asking and says, “ohhh, I know what you’re talking about. I heard it from (new friend she’s hanging with) but I can’t tell you.” ATP now that we know there’s a problem, we’re upset because why would she handle it this way instead of just telling us directly? We give her space and stop reaching out. One of her new friends is also their classmate and they say the same thing as the friend who knows which makes us mad because atp things are getting childish. After weeks of petty avoidance, the semester ends and we’re preparing to leave for vacation.
Since the break was only two weeks, we didn’t plan to go home so my mum decided to come visit us (we’re schooling in another state). By now she knows all about the hostilities with our friend who she’s met and hosted during other vacations. She was just as confused. She runs into her when dropping by for a visit to our hostel and obviously mentions the incident. She doesn’t ask what’s wrong but just says that she guesses we must have hurt her but it is not right for her to handle things this way instead of just telling us directly. We don’t even hear about this meeting until we get to her hotel.

Later that evening I get a long text from her finally explaining everything. Turns out a few days before our birthday she was going out with her then boyfriend for Valentine’s Day and she wore an outfit that was … not great. We saw the pictures she posted and texted each other about it which she saw when she went through my sister’s phone later at our birthday dinner. There was some banter where one of us made a joke asking when did she start dressing like a s***. I’m not trying to defend it but this was said in the context of a joke and not to judge her, we’ve had the exact type of conversation with her about other people (no way to make this not sound bad). Obviously it came across insulting when she read it but she felt she couldn’t confront us because of how she found out and didn’t know what to do so she just ghosted instead. She apologized for her part and said she’d still want to be friends when school started again. We talked about it and apologized too. We did not defend our behavior. We missed our friend too so there wasn’t any debate on rekindling.

I just can’t help but feel mad even though we’re talking again because I just remember the emotional roller coaster she put us through over something we fixed in 10 minutes.

Which makes me wonder AITAH for feeling this way even though I realize I hurt my friend too?

AITA for asking my roommate to stop playing music so loudly

I live with a roommate who loves playing music on speakers, especially in the evening. At first I didnt mind because everyone has their own way to relax but lately its been happening almost every day

I usually come home tired and just want some peace but the music is so loud that I can hear it clearly even with my bedroom door closed

Yesterday I asked him to turn it down because I wanted to rest and he got annoyed, saying its his home too and I cant expect him to stay quiet just because Im tired

I told him Im not asking him to stop listening to music, I just want the volume to be reasonable

Now hes barely talking to me and says Im trying to control what he does in his own space

AITA for asking him to keep the music down?

AITH for Forgetting Straw for Wife’s Drink

Wife ordered Starbucks for me to pickup. She likes to only drink her cold brew with a straw. I forgot the straw this time (normally I always remember). She gets angry at me for forgetting and gets frustrated. Wife thinks I don’t care about her. is it normal for someone to get angry over this?

AITA for refusing to give my colleague the client list she lost?

I work in a small estate agency where each employee manages their own clients. A few months ago, my manager assigned me several new clients, and I spent weeks building good relationships with them. I kept detailed notes about their preferences, budgets, and property requirements so I could provide them with suitable options. One of my colleagues, who had been struggling to meet her targets, asked if she could look at my notes to get some ideas for organising her own client records. I agreed to show her the format I used, but I made it clear that the client information itself was confidential and could not be shared without permission. Last week, she approached me looking stressed and admitted that she had accidentally deleted her own client records. She asked me to give her my client list so she could contact some of my clients and hopefully find new leads. I refused because those clients had been assigned to me, and I had spent considerable time building trust with them. I also explained that sharing their personal information without permission could cause problems for both of us. She argued that we worked for the same company and should help each other, especially when someone was struggling. I offered to help her contact our manager about recovering her deleted records and suggested that she ask for additional leads through the proper process. She dismissed both suggestions and said I was making a difficult situation worse by refusing to help. A few days later, she complained to another colleague that I cared more about protecting my commission than supporting the team. When my manager heard about the disagreement, he spoke to both of us and confirmed that client records were not to be shared between employees without authorisation. He also helped my colleague explore whether her deleted information could be recovered. My colleague has since been cold towards me and insists that I could have prevented her from falling behind on her targets if I had simply shared the list. I understand that losing her records was stressful, and I would have been happy to help her recover them. However, I don't think that means I should hand over confidential client information or risk damaging relationships I worked hard to build. I haven't reported her or tried to get her into trouble. I simply refused her request and followed the rules we were given at work. Now I'm wondering whether I should have been more flexible, even though my manager agreed with my decision. AITA?

AITA for refusing to share my salary details with my family

I recently started earning a little more at work and my family has started asking how much money I make every month

At first I didnt mind talking about it but now they keep asking how much Ive saved and how much I can contribute to different family expenses

Last week my brother asked me to lend him money and when I said I needed to save for my own future he called me selfish because Im earning more than before

I love my family and Im happy to help when I can but I dont want everyone treating my salary like its money they can automatically depend on

Now my parents say I should be more open about my finances since we are family

AITA for keeping my salary and savings private?

AITA for refusing to give my late mother’s heirloom to my father (saith) and his new family?

My mother passed away two years ago after a long battle with cancer. Before she died, she gave me a delicate gold ring that had belonged to her grandmother. It wasn't worth a huge amount of money, but emotionally, it was the most precious thing I owned. She explicitly told me to keep it safe and pass it down when I grew up.

My father, who everyone in our community calls "Saith" because of his successful business and high social standing, remarried about eight months ago. His new wife has a 17 year old daughter, my stepsister. Since they moved in, Saith has been pushing hard for us to act like a "perfect, united family." I’ve done my best to be polite and welcoming, even though I'm still deeply grieving my mom.

Last week was my step-sister’s 18th birthday. During dinner, Saith suddenly announced that he had a special surprise for her. He went to his room and came back holding my mom's ring. My heart completely stopped. I had kept it in a velvet box on my nightstand, and he had taken it without asking me.

He handed the box to my step-sister and said, "This is a welcome gift to welcome you fully into our family."

I couldn't stay quiet. I stood up, took the box out of her hand, and said, "This belonged to my mom. You had no right to take it from my room."

The atmosphere immediately turned cold. My step-sister started crying and ran to her room. Saith was furious. After his wife went to comfort her daughter, Saith pulled me aside and exploded. He called me disrespectful, selfish, and immature. He said that as the head of the house, he has the right to decide how family heirlooms are used to build bridges, and that keeping the ring to myself shows I'm rejecting our new family.

He told me that if I cared about him or the family's honor, I would apologize and hand the ring back to my step-sister. I refused, locked the ring away in a safe drawer, and haven't backed down. Now, Saith is giving me the silent treatment, and my step-mother keeps making passive-aggressive comments about how I ruined a milestone birthday for a teenager who just wanted to feel accepted.

I feel completely heartbroken and alienated in my own home, but I can't bring myself to give away the last meaningful piece of my mother.

Was I wrong for taking the ring back during dinner and refusing to give it to my step-sister, or was my father (Saith) wrong for taking my mother's heirloom without my permission?

AITH for getting upset with my fiancee's drinking and parenting

I (F31) came home from my evening shift and found my (M34) partner asleep on the couch while our 22 month old sat on the floor watching tv. I watched from the window for a moment to be sure he was sleeping and I tapped on the window catching my child and dogs attention. It was only when our child started climbing on him and the dog started whining and I opened the (already unlocked) front door that my partner's eyes opened. Now my partner works 5 shifts that are 8 hours each and starts at 7 am. I work evenings as a server. I can understand that he is tired but I've already had issues with my partners drinking. After work he comes home and has a few beers making him even more tired to the point where he falls asleep on the couch or recliner and leaves a lot of the toddler evening responsibilities to me, especially if I'm off of work. I have brought this to his attention and he'll maybe slow down drinking for a few days (the longest was almost a month) but then I'll go
back to having a few beers every night.I was sober for 5 years and have only recently started drinking but it's only a couple times a month for social things like concerts or events. I still breastfeed and baby associates sleep with milk so I am primarily the one to out our child to sleep. When I came home however the house was a mess and my fiancee hadn't started any of the toddler wind down (like bath/ no tv) and I found two empty cans of beer around the house. My partner texted me earlier asking if I was going to be off late, I replied that I wasn't, started heading home from work and got gas and arrived to the scene. It makes me wonder if I had been at work late what could have happened. He swears he was only asleep for 5 minutes and after telling him I was deeply disappointed about his drinking and not watching our child he apologized for “doozing off” and that was it. I'm very mad and feel like crying and find myself not attracted to him when I have to act like his care giver too. Am I over reacting? Our house is pretty toddler proof but anything could always happen. I'm just so angry right now. AITA?

AITH for refusing to bring a plus one to my cousin’s wedding after she told me to find a date so the tables would look even?

I (30F) have been single for about a year after a long relationship ended. My cousin (32F) is getting married in Cheshire next spring and I am really happy for her. When the invitations went out, mine said and guest. I replied that I’d be coming on my own, as I did not have anyone to bring. A week later, my cousin rang and said the seating plan was “wonky” because there were too many single guests at my table and asked if I could find a date even just a friend or a colleague, so the numbers would look balanced. I said I did not feel comfortable asking someone to a wedding purely to fill a seat, especially as it’s a three hour drive and the venue has no cheap hotels nearby. She said it was a tiny favour and that I was being awkward because I was still sulking about the break up. I told her that was not fair and that I’d be perfectly happy to sit with other single guests. She went quiet and then my auntie messaged me saying the bride was in tears and that I was “making her day about me. Now a few relatives think I should just ask a friend to come along to keep the peace and others have told me I am well within my rights to go solo. I do feel bad, because I know weddings are stressful and I do not want to cause drama. But I also feel like I am being asked to arrange my personal life around a table plan. So, AITH?
