Download AM2R Autopatcher got updated!

Post image

https://github.com/am2r-android/AM2R-Autopatcher-Android

Minor tweaks this time, a new bigger hud by default for new players, but the old HUD can still be brought back through display settings.

Save syncing with Syncthing! Only app that was actually tested, Android to Android and android to linux, windows is untested

Minor inconsistencies with map backgrounds in dual screen edition

Huge thanks for Shikibu again for the new Dual Screen edition splash screen that you are seeing right now!

Thanks for your work on this!

How are you playing AM2R on Linux? I've tried installing on Bazzite via Flatpak and manually downloading the Linux executable.

While I can get the game to launch, there's no audio playing.

I don't have this issue at all on Android when using your patcher, thankfully.

The linux situation is a bit iffy right now due to the current release having some bugs. The recommendation that the Community Updates developers have said for it is by using Wine or Proton for the Windows release

I don't have much information in what their eventual workaround will be, so I suggest you contact them directly through the discord or modmail

Thanks. Hopefully the Community Updates devs will be able to provide a new version soon. For now, I'll try the Windows version through Proton.

Just tried it out, great changes, way easier to see your health and missiles with a quick glance now.

This patcher allows to have the apk without going through a PC, thank you so much for your work !

Just tried this latest version, would it be possible to have a dedicated menu button on the bottom screen ? I like accessing it directly through there without pressing start first

A h, well I'd need to restore that feature... The reason it was removed was because it was taking space for the rest of the HUD. More people discussed mostly on the poor visibility

I'll definitely keep your feedback in mind

Thanks for your answers ! Would an option to switch between the two be possible ?

Also I like when the map is more zoomed-in, but that resets on every restart, any way to make the change permanent ?

If you don't have time for this I get it, this dual screen mode is already great

The map change should be feasible, I'll verify and let you know. Have you tried the different HUD options? I'd like to know you've preferred

That being said, you could technically regress back to 1.5.5.10 hotfix 1 if you'd like to keep that extra button in the bottom screen. The fixes on this version focused on minor things you won't notice from the old version

Is there a way to update the game that’s already used the autopatcher, or do we just start from the scratch 1.1 each time?

You update the game by updating the Autopatcher and repatching the 1.1 copy. When you let the install happen through the autopatcher it should detect your previous patched apk and update it

So basically if you already had a previous version of the autopatcher with a previous update of AM2R:

  • Download the new autopatcher apk -> update
  • Run the new autopatcher as you were patching the 1.1.zip again like the first time
  • patch it, click install standard or dual screen
  • your phone should automatically detect your other apk and the prompt should say "update"
  • update AM2R

If you're still unsure, first go to AM2R -> Data -> Backup and save your saves in a separate folder. Then you can restore them later if anything bad happened

The reason it's done this way is because we are not allowed to redistribute the game which has copyrighted assets by itself. I can't just give you AM2R, you provide your legally attained copy and the autopatcher will patch it to support android + any new features I add

Might have to get the anbernic dds to larp playin this on 3ds like ive always wanted

1

u/_PatchDev 3d ago

I'm planning on making a profile for that console specifically once I get my hands on one. Currently the DDS has a 5:3 top screen while my project supports 4:3 and 16:9

But once the DDS comes out I'll make a new profile for it asap

u/FBInion 3d ago

5:3 is the same as 15:9 so honestly you don’t really have to

Is it possible to configure the controls on a first launch without another controller ? I can't move on the menus at all on a Thor

1

u/-Polarsy- 3d ago

Strange, didn't have any problems with that

1

u/_PatchDev 3d ago

Have you tried using the touch screen

1

u/FyrusCarmin 3d ago

I did, I can touch a save slot, but I can't touch anything else, neither any option to start it nor any of the settings below

1

u/_PatchDev 3d ago

Strange. I'll verify this. Do you have any issues navigating menus on other games and apps?

1

u/FyrusCarmin 3d ago

Nope, usually things get set pretty much instantly aside from having to swap ABXY

1

u/_PatchDev 3d ago

Just to let you know, I've tested on my own Thor (Batch 8) and haven't had issues myself. That being said I will still investigate the issue, but I don't guarantee I'll be able to replicate it myself

If you can, could you provide me with a video of the issue through dm or through GitHub

1

u/FyrusCarmin 3d ago

Yes, sure

In the meantime, is there a ini file I can edit to map my buttons ?

1

u/_PatchDev 3d ago

The config.ini lives inside rooted storage. In order for you to modify it through android you'd need root access on apps like Material Files

If you have a way of accessing it then it would be /data/user/0/com.community.am2r/files/config.ini

And before I investigate any further, are you able to uninstall the game and reinstall it just to see if the problem fixes itself

2

u/FyrusCarmin 3d ago

I should be able to access it, also I did try reinstalling just now but I have the same issue

1

u/_PatchDev 3d ago

What I'll try to do is allow touch screens for the smaller sub menus, these were purposefully not put in place due to how small the buttons are. But I'll try to make a workaround and if it's possible I can privately dm you a test build

Out of curiosity, will this be compatible/useable with the retroid pocket dual screen add on? Have been eye balling it for my RP4P to run ds/3ds ROMs with, running AM2R that way would be cool too. Great work on this either way, has been cool following progress on the AM2R stuff as of late.

I haven't tested for the dual screen add-on, so long as your own device can detect the add-on as the main display (so basically have it display the top half) then there shouldn't be any issues. I recommend starting with Retroid Pocket Duo profile
