Well don't worry, they only make the Satan-borne rattlesnake sound if you pinch them, thankfully. Or poke them 😅. They are like 4 inches long though, can't change that.

I don’t think my hissers got the memo. One of them likes to stand on top of the log hide and just loudly hiss in every direction for no reason

They only hiss if you stress them out (and it sounds more like a person strongly exhaling through the nose)! Compared to other roaches, they're big, slow, and clumsy. Lovely little critters and a great way to acclimate yourself to creepy crawlies!

I remember we got Madagascar hissing cockroaches a few times when I was 10 or so. I thought they were so cool. Like big shiny shells that hiss if you poke them.
