What should I bring to a tax internship interview?

I have an in-person interview for a Spring 2027 Tax & Accounting Internship at a local CPA firm. The role involves tax returns, workpapers, QuickBooks reconciliations, bookkeeping, payroll, and client service.

What should I bring besides copies of my resume, a notebook, and a pen? Should I bring my transcript or references too?

Also, what should I expect from a tax internship interview at a smaller/mid-sized CPA firm?

for a small firm, bring your transcript even if they don't ask for it. shows you're not hiding anything and they'll probably want to see your accounting grades anyway. references sheet is good to have ready but most places won't ask for it at the interview stage, just have it in your folder just in case

they're gonna care way more about whether you're normal to talk to than technical knowledge. expect a lot of "tell me about yourself" and questions about how you handle busy periods. smaller firms live or die on culture fit so just be the version of yourself that doesn't seem like a headache to work 60 hours next to in march

If you've already started picking your classes for next semester bring a copy of your class schedule.
