It's a shame that this guy never made it among the Arkham figures McFarlane released.
There was one Mr. Freeze released by DC Collectibles way back, but I believe that run was limited and that figure is now quite expensive on the secondary market...
Also not sure if Mattel will ever tackle the Arkham stuff, so McFarlane may have been the last chance to get him.
What do you think? Does somebody have the DC Collectibles Mr. Freeze?
The three at the front are the same sculpt, and the one on our right is mostly the same with extra details.
The one on our left is the one that's mostly different, though it uses the same faceplates as the others, so it can contribute to the array of facial expressions, neat!
It's a goofy 5 minute recolor to make a figure that fits in with a classic story from the 1950s, why are you comparing it with something that would have required a whole new sculpt and everything? This comparison would only begin to come close to being valid if making Mr. Freeze from the Arkham series would have required no more than a tweak to an existing figure's paint deco. To be fair, that's probably exactly what McFarlane would have done, but it would have required more than just the hue shift needed to get Batman in a green suit.
Nice! I know the articulation on those was somewhat limited (I have a few Asylum / City figures myself), but it looks great, especially the headsculpt and the paint apps.
Yeah, another issue is the joints could be really brittle as this is from around the time that DC Collectibles was using clear plastic for the joints. It affected the Arkham Origins figures the most; my Anarky and Firefly broke into many pieces. I do really like the head sculpt on this Mr Freeze; here's a close-up:
Well officially we might never get one from mcfarlane but there’s a chance we might get one from LPZZ or maybe inart, both companies have dropped some Arkham figures recently so there’s certainly a chance.
Obviously not in scale with mcfarlanes and will definitely be more expensive to boot
Because they're a big company that will second guess everything, not limited to the age of the games but also how recently there were figures from it. Then they'll err on the side of "caution" so they don't wast time and money on an unwanted figure. But that is just what I've seen Hasbro do and hope for all you DC guys that Mattel isn't gonna constantly do that crap.
They would have done a good job with this guy, there unique sculpts were actually pretty great. It probably would have lacked some paint detail but otherwise it would have been good
