Follow-up to my v1.4.0 post. Six releases since then; the biggest change is in v1.7.0.

YouTube Music: playlist downloads (v1.7.0)

• Tap Download on a playlist or album and every track is downloaded and saved as a playlist in YouTube Music's own Device files library (Library → Device files, or Account → Downloads). Music's own player plays it offline, with no Premium needed. Works signed in or signed out.
• Songs are saved to Music/RVX as Title - Artist, with title, artist, album and cover embedded, so Device files groups them by real artist and album. Opus becomes .ogg and AAC .m4a, without re-encoding.
• Songs you already downloaded are reused, and existing in-app downloads are moved over without downloading them again.
• A "Not in a playlist" playlist lists every downloaded song that isn't in any other playlist. It updates when Music opens and after each download.
• Turn it on: RVX settings → Action bar → Override Download action button, then Miscellaneous → Download in app. Allow audio access when Music asks; Device files needs it.

YouTube Music, also new

• Skip silence, Force portrait orientation, and Media notification controls (hide previous/next, disable the seekbar).
• Faster song downloads, and a fallback when the server refuses a stream.
• Dark theme now also applies to the settings screens on 9.40.51. Lyrics can be searched by title and artist (long-press refresh).

YouTube

• Built-in downloader: downloads with 6 connections, a 783 MB video merges in a few seconds instead of ~27 s, VP9/WebM for 1440p and 4K on devices without AV1, quality labels that match YouTube's, and AV1 your device can't play is marked.
• New patches: Copy text (long-press title or comment), Volume boost up to 200%, Skip silence, Force system font, Hide status bar, Disable auto feed refresh, Playback buffer and Restore original titles, plus a Bold icon style option. Some of these come from Morphe, some from anddea's dev branch.
• Fixes: Shorts default speed on 21.39, Spoof video streams with visionOS / Android VR, missing items in the 3-dots menu, player controls floating above the seekbar in fullscreen, the miniplayer end screen, the ◎ between like/dislike counts, and the You tab's Downloads row.

Limits

• Playlist edits made inside Device files reach "Not in a playlist" the next time Music opens or downloads something.
• The Library "Downloads" filter chip still shows Music's own (empty) downloads; use Device files or Account → Downloads.
• Music downloads were tested on a Galaxy S23 (root, signed in, no Premium) and signed out on an emulator. The non-root (GmsCore) build hasn't been tested on a device yet.

Don't know if this is the right sub but the revanced subreddit doesnt allow posting for some reason

I installed the latest revanced patch 2 weeks ago because the old one i was using that was perfectly fine stopped working. But the latest patch is basically unusable for me. I've repatched it like 5 or more times and it has this unbearable habit of randomly buffering 1/3rd into the video and will sometimes refuse to play anyway. I have to spend like 1 minute messing around with the timeline to get the video to play and usually it just refuses to play anyway. I cannot skip to any timestamp on any video or else the video will refuse to play again. No it's not my internet because revanced is the only app that does this.

It's gone to a point where i believe I've wasted more time of my life trying to mess with revanced's player buffering than i would have watching ads on the normal app. Right now I've moved to using waterfox for youtube because it blocks ads now.

I installed MicroG RE and Morphed YT on car android head unit. The problem is if I login on MicroG RE, the YT / YT Music keep force close 1 second after I open the app. But if I log out from MicroG, the app can run smoothly.

I tried many version of MicroG RE, Vanced MicroG, Revanced GmsCore, including older version, but all resulting same issue.

I dont know the problem is the MicroG, or the Morphed app, anyone can help me for this issue?

I started using morphe youtube after revanced but there is problem

When I watch the shorts the first short gets stopped (I mean it doesn't even plays) I have to scroll for 2nd short and it starts playing then I come to 1st it also start playing but why is that even happening

Also some shorts doesn't even plays they just stop there I have to scroll 1 more down then it starts working

Can anyone tell me what's really happening?

Is it any error related to client server or any spoof stream settings??

Can't patch in Revanced manager can anyone help or suggest any alternative?

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble updating ReVanced GmsCore on my Moto G 5G Plus running Android 11.

YouTube ReVanced asks me to update GmsCore because I'm using an older version. I also get an “An error occurred” message when trying to sign in to my Google account, at the final step.

My setup:

- Device: Moto G 5G Plus

- Android version: Android 11

- ReVanced Manager: v2.6.0

- Old GmsCore version: 0.3.1.4.240913

- New version I'm trying to install: 0.3.13.2.250932

- APK filename: "app.revanced.android.gms-250932004-signed.apk"

- APK downloaded from the official ReVanced GitHub release page.

What I've tried:

1. Tried installing the new APK using Files by Google, but it says I can't install the app on my phone.

2. Tried installing it using ZArchiver and Chrome, but the installation failed.

3. Uninstalled the old GmsCore and tried installing the new version again, but it still failed.

4. Reinstalled the old version successfully, so I'm back to where I started.

5. Checked MicroG's self-check, and the listed checks passed.

6. I have around 10 GB of free storage, so storage space shouldn't be the issue.

Does anyone know why this specific version won't install on Android 11, even after uninstalling the old version? Could this be an APK compatibility issue or something else?

I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Update (Oct 17): v1.7.0 adds YouTube Music playlist downloads that play offline in Music's own player, plus everything since 1.4.0. See the new post.

Follow-up to my earlier post. Version 1.4.0 adds a built-in video downloader to YouTube RVX. No external downloader app is needed.

What it does

• Tap Download on a video and a sheet lists every quality with its codec and file size. H.264 plays everywhere. AV1 gives smaller files and is offered on Android 14+ when the device has an AV1 decoder.
• Video and audio are merged into one MP4 and saved to Movies/RVX, so your gallery and other players see it too. Downloads keep going in the background, with progress and Cancel in the notification.
• Offline library with sorting, search and delete. Open it from the new Downloads button next to Settings in the You tab, from RVX settings, or let it replace YouTube's own Downloads page.
• Offline player that remembers where you stopped, with ±10 s seeking, playback speed, fullscreen, and background playback with lock screen controls.
• Works with the root modules too (no manifest changes).

Turn it on

It's off by default. Go to RVX settings → General → Hook buttons → Built-in downloader, then restart YouTube.

Limits

• One download at a time.
• On Android 15, the system stops very long downloads after its background time limit.
• No picture-in-picture in the offline player.
• The You tab button needs YouTube 21.39.525. On older versions its setting is hidden.

Hello, I had this too with 20.40.45 version
Playing with settings and patching of this version never worked.
Workable solution I found is:
1. Remove 20.40.45 via ReVanced manager 
2. Download YT 20.26.46 from APKMirror.com
3. In ReVanced manager select 20.26.46 browsing the file storage
4. Patch it
5. Make sure to have these settings: 
Spoof app version: no
Spoof device size: no
Spoof video stream: yes, visionOS

I have tried everything....redownload it...changing spoof from different versions...tried all spoof still its not fixing.... please help me

I maintain a fork of anddea's RVX patches that supports the latest versions: YouTube 21.39.525 and YouTube Music 9.40.51 (older 21.13 / 9.15 still work). One patch bundle for both apps.

What's extra

• YouTube Music – Restore Android Auto playlists: your playlists show up in the car again, with artwork, and update after you change them on the phone.
• Settings that had stopped working on the new versions work again: Disable DRC audio, fullscreen large seekbar, miniplayer size / rounded corners / drag and drop / horizontal drag, hide song/video toggle, and the crossfade fix that keeps media controls in sync.

Settings that do nothing on the newest versions

YouTube removed the code for these, so they can't be patched: Modern 1/2 miniplayer styles, old player button style (YouTube 21.39), and action bar position (YT Music 9.40).

My experience with ReVanced vs MORPHE — looking for neutral opinions

Well, this issue had been happening to me for the last few months and I tried everything. The spoof video streams issue would sometimes work and sometimes not, but nothing really fixed it properly.

Then around 2 weeks ago, it completely stopped working for me. I couldn't play anything, the home page wasn't loading, I couldn't search anything, etc. I tried completely reinstalling everything too, but nothing helped.

I asked about it in the ReVanced Discord, and as usual the response was basically "we're working on it, wait for a fix" bla bla 💀. Which I can understand, but honestly it was pretty frustrating because it had already been happening for months.

So I started using YouTube through my mobile browser instead.

Then, a couple of days later, someone from the ReVanced Discord messaged me. They had apparently seen my message about ReVanced being completely dead for me. It was a message request, so I didn't even see it until 2 days later 💀

They mentioned something called MORPHE. At first I thought it was some completely different app like NewPipe, but apparently it's similar to REVANCED and is based on/forked from ReVanced code. From what I've found, some former ReVanced developers are also involved with Morphe.

I installed it and honestly... it works perfectly fine for me.

The overall experience is very similar to ReVanced, but personally I actually prefer Morphe's manager for patching.

For me, ReVanced's background patching doesn't work at all. With Morphe, after patching I can simply save the patched APK directly to my device. I'm not even sure if ReVanced Manager has this feature, but I don't remember seeing it.

Morphe also keeps things pretty simple. It currently has only a few supported apps like YouTube, YouTube Music and Reddit, which is actually enough for me because I only care about patching YouTube anyway.

The Morphe YouTube settings also look almost the same as ReVanced YouTube from what I've seen so far. I haven't gone through every single setting or feature yet, so I can't say they're 100% identical, but from what I've discovered so far, they're very similar.

However, when I first installed Morphe YouTube, I actually had the same 1-minute playback problem I was having with ReVanced. Videos would stop around the 1-minute mark.

I searched around and found a Reddit post about Morphe mentioning something called PotHelper. Basically, you can use it to get the required PoToken and disable the spoof video streams completely.

I installed PotHelper and after that everything started working perfectly.

I've been using MORPHE + PotHelper for around 2 weeks now and I haven't had a single playback problem since.

It does require MicroG too, although it's not exactly the same MicroG as the one bundled with ReVanced. Interestingly, the ReVanced MicroG also works with Morphe YouTube and vice versa, although YouTube gives a warning that the MicroG isn't the latest version.

There are also some smaller things I personally prefer about Morphe's UI and overall user experience. ReVanced Manager's background patching has never worked properly for me, and I've had a few other small glitches with ReVanced over time. I haven't explored every single feature in Morphe because honestly I don't care about all that — I just want to patch YouTube easily and use it.

Now, I know there is a whole argument going on between REVANCED and MORPHE about code, GPLv3, DMCA takedowns, attribution, who copied what from whom, etc.

I even asked about Morphe in the ReVanced Discord and the reaction was basically what you'd expect 💀. There was a lot of "they violated this rule", "they copied this", "they did that", etc.

And honestly, as an end user, I don't really care about that part.

If someone copied the original code, forked it, modified it, or whatever — as long as the project follows the relevant licensing requirements and the end result is safe and actually works, I don't think most normal users care nearly as much about the developer drama.

If I had known Morphe existed earlier, I probably would've switched to it much sooner because, for me personally, it's been a better experience than ReVanced overall, even putting the PotHelper issue aside.

I'm not saying Morphe is objectively better than ReVanced. I'm just sharing my experience because ReVanced completely stopped working for me while Morphe has been working flawlessly.

I'd genuinely like to hear from people who have used both.

Is there anything ReVanced does better that I'm missing? Or any reason to prefer ReVanced over Morphe that actually matters to an end user?

I'm looking for neutral opinions, not "Morphe good because this is the Morphe subreddit" or "ReVanced good because this is the ReVanced subreddit." 😂

One more thing I really don't like about ReVanced is that they've restricted their subreddit. I mean, seriously, we can't even comment without requesting access first. And if we do get access and then talk about Morphe or anything related to it, I'm pretty sure the account will just get restricted again.

The same thing happens on the Discord too. From what I've seen, the automod removes "Morphe" or anything related to it, which honestly feels a bit ridiculous.

And as far as I know, Morphe doesn't have a Discord either, which is kind of sad because asking questions on GitHub isn't that simple for me. I'm not really comfortable with GitHub, so having a proper community Discord would make things much easier.
