Polite Political Discussion 🇺🇸 Who's Paying For Those Political Ads?
Ever get a political mailer and wonder who's really behind it?
Popular Information launched PaidForBy.info, a free tool that shows you who's actually sending the mail and who's funding it. Snap a photo of the front and back of the mailer, upload it, and you'll have answers in seconds.
It works on TV and streaming ads too. Pause when the "Paid For By" text appears and upload a screenshot.
Right now it returns info on federal races, but you can submit state and local mail too. Journalists review submissions and report on the most newsworthy ones.

Agency submitted an unsigned final order to court record, but my copy is signed. How does a judge handle this?
I am a self-represented appellant in an administrative appeal against a state agency in the Superior Court (Alaska). I have already submitted my Appellant's Opening Brief, but I want to get outside legal perspectives on a bizarre record discrepancy I am facing.
When I initiated my appeal and filed my initial paperwork with the Superior Court, I attached the copy of the final decision that the agency had originally mailed to me. On that copy, Page 11 clearly features the final decision-maker's physical signature and date.
However, when the agency later compiled and transmitted the official certified record to the Superior Court judge, the copies of the final decision they inserted were completely different. On their certified version, the signature page is entirely blank, undated, and unexecuted.
To make matters worse, internal agency emails inside that same certified record prove that the decision-maker was only forwarded my timely 17-page submission on the exact same day he signed my original copy, showing a physical impossibility for any independent review.
Does it change the legal leverage of my case that the judge now has two conflicting versions of the "final action" on file—a signed copy from me and an unsigned copy from the state? Does this outright contradiction prevent the judge from treating the state's unsigned submission as a harmless clerical error?
Additionally, there is a massive contradiction regarding the "good cause" timeline. Inside the certified record, there is an official email from the Department of Public Assistance (DPA) case representative explicitly stating they had NO OBJECTION to my good cause and completely agreed to rescheduling the hearing. Despite the state agency itself formally waiving any objection, the ALJ completely ignored that consent and issued a final decision stating I failed to show good cause. To make matters worse, the state's attorney is now completely contradicting his own agency's written record by claiming in his brief that I never even attempted to show good cause. Is it legally normal for an ALJ to deny a reschedule based on a lack of good cause when the state agency itself explicitly consented to it on the record? How heavily will a Superior Court judge weigh the fact that the attorney's brief completely misrepresents his own agency’s filings?

Are dental hygienists in high demand?
My wife is considering going back to school to become a dental hygienist. Seems like they make good money up here too. Anybody know if they are in high demand or have any info or advice? We live in the valley. Thanks!

What's the deal with McHugh Creek Trail
New to Anchorage and saw this sign. Then a new friend told us there was a family killed here a decade ago (or more?) and then someone else had a close call here. Should we not do this trail as much? We have bear spray and usually hike as a couple. No dogs.

Be My Google 💻 Why did Wasilla stop with police dispatch reports?
AST still has daily reports of when they make annarrest. Wasilla, for years now, just hasna "crime map" which seems to be out of date and very vague.
I can understand protecting the idendity of the victim, but i always thought part of why police eeport on arrests is so the general public knows that if john q hasn't been seen forbawhile, its because the police arrrestednhim for something and not that he is missing or dead. So why did wasilla change this?

General Nonsense Rip to my P.o box
Went to check my mail today and I'm used to throwing away 2-3 pages of crap. Today I hit the jackpot and somehow ended up with this entire stack of garbage.
I find it depressing that someone spent actual money to make all these and send them across the state to various people. Such a waste of resources to end up in my box and straight into the trash.
