I wonder if the rugby league damaging the turf the night before led to both teams making it one of the more aerial games I remember seeing for a while, and therefore one with a lack of creative play.

As I expected, the APL patting themselves on the back for getting 30k there last night. Completely ignoring the fact that 10-15k of them were once or twice a season attendees who after witnessing that would have zero interest in returning for a non derby fixture - same goes for tv audience.

Just for once it would be nice to see the aleague run with the long term in mind rather than instant gratification and sugar hits that have dictated the last 20 years and gotten us nowhere.

Reasoning of putting blockbusters in key places only works if it doesn't impact on match quality because surely you want your blockbuster matches to be good so fans are excited for more right?

You simply gotta laugh at the thought processes of the people running football in this country

To be fair to them, both teams could play like that for the next couple of weeks, certainly looked possible

This was the wrong decision and they just don’t want to admit it. Do they have origin as the first game of the nrl season, of course not. There not stupid, this derby is a major event the A league, so treat the players and fans properly. Fing morons.

Predictable response but doesnt mean they double down next year...hopefully like Unite rd they say its here to stay then quietly drop it
