Game Mechanics Unlocking the Acceleration Threshold!

Since Version 27, I haven't revealed the acceleration thresholds because of a tricky issue: above 88 acceleration, the difference in stride frequency no longer exists. To clarify: before Version 27, exceeding 88 acceleration only affected stride length, which is why people talked about the '88 threshold.' As I mentioned in the comments a few days ago, that 88 threshold is gone.

See the details in the chart below:

Acceleration 100 Vs Acceleration 97

(Now, every single stat point above 90 Acceleration alters stride frequency, causing character animations to become desynchronized.)

Because the animations are desynchronized, it's impossible to use the player's foot position to verify the 5 cm difference that each point of Acceleration adds. For the past month, I've been constantly trying to figure out which part of the body to use as a baseline, but haven't found a good solution yet. Today, after gaining new inspiration from AI, I decompiled the program:

Analysis: According to the code, off-the-ball player acceleration is divided into two phases: acceleration is high at lower speeds and decreases as they approach top speed.

The complete data plot is shown below—

Figures 1 and 2 show the acceleration at low and high speeds, respectively, while Figure 3 displays the time taken to reach top speed.

All of these lead to the same conclusion: in the current version (Version 27), the acceleration thresholds are 90 and 60. The returns/stat efficiency from 90 to 120 is two-thirds (2/3) of what it is below 90.

So 90 is the new threshold?

90 is minimum basically.

It was 88 before right?

We need ALL results from AI. Not only acceleration. See other threads! Super sub +1 to all stats etc....

So we no longer have to worry about getting to a specific number. That's big.

I assume 88 acceleration in ef27 is now slower than 88 accel back then?

What about 90 accel? Is it now faster in ef27?

Do you get the same returns from going over 91 or 92 accel as you did in ef26?

Im interested in the comparisons

We are all waiting for that, hopefully Amadeusz will work smoothly and share useful articles about the threshold

Wow, here it is. Have been looking forward to the acceleration tests.

If I understand correctly, these results don't come from any particular testing method, but instead from decompiling the source code? (using AI?)

Interesting. Wonder if it could still be verified with some in game tests.

Thanks as always for sharing the work here!

Does attacking awareness do anything for AI acceleration?

u/dynamo_ng OG Amadeusz Fan 1d ago

Think he said it did, for every point below 90 attacking awareness and defensive awareness, there is a debuff to the starting acceleration.

1

u/lucifa 1d ago

does that mean the opposite is true also? (above 90 there's a buff, or is there no benefit after 90?)

1

u/dynamo_ng OG Amadeusz Fan 1d ago

Na it caps out at 90 for the full benefit, that's why on the extreme side he usually says 90 offensive awareness for stickers is the minimum.

The 90 on OA e DA still persists as a threshold?

1

u/MrNinj4 OG Amadeusz Fan 1d ago

yes as of now

If I understand correctly, the threshold is 90 not because you need 90 to compete. It is 90 because increasing to 91 and beyond is less efficient. It only gives 2/3 of the previous benefit. But there is no info on how much you need.

I guess you can look at how balance and OA is effected. like if I build this card with maximum acc he ends up with a ton of wasted points over his max balance plus a level of OA that is useless even if I make him AMF

So the 88 threshold isn't viable no more

2

u/NosFid3les_101 1d ago

Como umbral concreto no, pero como un punto de equilibrio a la hora de realizar una build sí lo sigue siendo, aunque eso dependerá del jugador al que estés haciendo la build y de tus necesidades en el equipo.

Important to note that these data plots do not represent actual observations but predictions. Amadeusz writes that on the plots. These predictions are based upon a formula whose source is seemingly unclear (using AI and "deompiling the program" seems to imply the source code is being looked at, but I'd like to know the details of that source code to understand it and infer conclusions more reliably rather than apparently trusting an LLM chatbot to get it right?)

I would just say the results are inconclusive and we need more research and better methodology to find the true effects of Acceleration in the present patch.

Amazing insight

I'd advise people to stop chasing thresholds and build your players as optimal as possible. Every player has what they are good at, you don't have to force a player to be what they aren't because you're trying to chase thresholds.

Fast players will easily meet these thresholds.

People can go over board with their obsession over thresholds, but they're still important to keep in mind in case you don't have to compromise much on your other stats

That's literally why threasolds are so important. You can play a Van dijk because he can reach 88 acceleration otherwise he will be too slow to compete vs Ibra and tall strikers.

1

u/Vast_Web_7538 1d ago

Thats exactly why knowing thresholds are important. If the returns are diminishing, you can just reach the threshold and focus more on other stats so that you can get the best out of the player.

8

u/LeadingStrawberry502 1d ago

So instead of 91 it's 90 that is the threshold?

12

u/amine250 OG Amadeusz Fan 1d ago

Not really.

It means that the ROI of +1 accel before 90 is higher than the ROI of +1 accel after 90.

5

u/joelesidin 1d ago

That's what a threshold means

6

u/amine250 OG Amadeusz Fan 1d ago

I wouldn’t call it threshold because there still is benefit if you boost accel over 90.

Let’s call it the point of diminishing returns.

5

u/PedroHFernandes OG Amadeusz Fan 1d ago

Threshold never meant a total limit or barrier, they never meant that going past it awards nothing 🤷 (only threshold that means that in-game is 97 to 99 speed which apparently are exactly the same, but then 100 speed starts mattering again)

The word means a "transition", which is exactly what the post is talking about. Before it, things behave a certain way, after it, things change but don't stop existing or doing stuff

3

u/amine250 OG Amadeusz Fan 1d ago

I understand. The word “threshold” might push some players to think that going over 90 is a waste of points but it’s not

1

u/NosFid3les_101 1d ago

Exacto, "umbral" hace mención a un punto de diferencia notable.

1

u/tonyferguson2021 16h ago

that makes sense, but didn’t they say there were ’special animations’ or something initiating at 88 and 91?

2

u/Other-Helicopter-881 1d ago

so is there like a noticable difference in 90 and say , 93 acceleration?

1

u/Adventurous-Guest710 11h ago

Have a look at the graphs you'll know it!

1

u/Other-Helicopter-881 11h ago

so is there like a noticable difference in 90 and say , 93 acceleration?

1

u/Adventurous-Guest710 10h ago

No there won't be an impactful difference unless you go around 99

3

u/Mysteriousrat05 1d ago

Thresholds keep increasing every update. Imo realistically for f2p 88 is still fine, no way we have enough free f2p cards that can get up to 90 in acceleration unfortunately

4

u/Electronic_Barber_35 1d ago

Konami at it again

4

u/Pleasant-Fig5191 1d ago

My WC Messi feels slower be coz of the dribbling nerf I guess since the speed and acceleration thresholds are almost close for him

1

u/Felipens88 1d ago

I wonder how much acc i should invest in BT Mbappe, mine has 99 and still cant outpace f2p CBs like ST Romero

2

u/Segsy4gas1 1d ago

That’s the point of this stupid game, stats begin to mean less the more you have them. Plus Batistuta will outpace Desaily if the game conditions want it to happen with all the silly buffs and debuffs like mortal kombat.

1

u/wingedwild 1d ago

Im not doing all this just to satisfy Konami and their thirst to power creep cards to sell new cards sp you can compete .nah ik good
