I'm a JMU alum and was wondering how the American handles football scheduling? Since Navy, Temple, ECU, Charlotte, and Army would be the closest teams to us, should I expect to play them every year? With home and away every other year? Would we get a round-robin-like schedule with the other teams or expect them and ESPN to schedule for TV ratings?
Thanks for your help and I look forward to when we become members in 2028.

Not trying to stir anything, just a genuine question. Everywhere online it seems like Sun Belt fans have a ton of hatred toward James Madison. I’ve seen them attack the student fees, conference jump, etc. Is this strictly because of the switch to the AAC or is there something else at play?
I guess I could understand them being disappointed in losing JMU so quickly but they have already won the SBC, are on pace to win it again, made the CFP, and would likely have won the SBC more if not for transition rules. So that’s a lot in only 5 years. Seems like JMU obviously outgrew the conference so the spite surprised me I guess. I don’t feel like I saw anything similar when Texas State jumped to the Pac-12

Assuming you are, I suggest adding the Duke Dog head, as opposed to the slanted JMU. Just my $.02 - either way, I look forward to coming here and chatting!

This week, we're going to take a dive into the conference title race for several conferences. Starting with The American Conference
📌 There are still a couple playoff contenders to know about
📌 Remaining teams undefeated in conference play
📌 Some of the usual suspects aren't off to smooth starts
What are your thoughts? Who is your favorite to win The American currently?

Me and a friend are developing something called Dynasty Forever, a college football simulation where you can start a dynasty in any season from 1956 onward and rewrite CFB history.
We’re looking for fans willing to help research historical rosters, schedules, stats, and coaching staffs for their favorite schools.
Even one roster or an old media guide would be a huge help!
If you’re interested in contributing, here’s our research form in the comments!

Currently feel now they‘d either take in UConn as a football only member (likely lose them to ACC with the others, but still wouldn’t cost as much as a full member in the interim) or take in one of Appalachian State or Miami Ohio. Possible they could take all three.
Regardless I feel this is who would be in the American if they lose Memphis, Tulane, and USF (plus UConn if they’d be one to join) to the ACC, with question marks indicating schools I feel they could potentially also lose.
Temple
ECU
Tulsa
Navy (football-only) ?
Wichita State (non-football)
Charlotte
FAU
North Texas
Rice ?
UAB
UTSA ?
Army (football-only) ?
JMU
Appalachian State
Miami Ohio
At most they would have 12 schools in football plus Army and Navy and 13 in non football.
At least they would have 10 schools in football and 11 in non football.

Reported James Madison (all sports), Miami Ohio (all sports) have reached out to American. No expansion expected at this time. I think both have good track records of football investment. UConn would work if they agree to schedule basketball games with USF, Wichita State, Memphis. Just my thought.

Alrighty! Well, I have finally made it through the first couple conferences. It is still WIP as I do plan to add all the conferences' schedules, but seeing as I am finished with the ACC's, I figured I would post it here for anyone who is interested!
Now you ask yourself, OP why would you spend so much time doing all this? And the short answer is, ESPN's laziness. While ESPN does show the games for ncaa volleyball, they do not have schedules for each team, standings to compare, or really any meaningful data for the sport. Now, I would understand if they didn't have this if it was a completely new league and they would have to go out of their way to completely reformat things, but literally every ncaa volleyball team is also d1 basketball(to my knowledge). Either way, I'm stubborn, and I started watching late last year so when lo and behold, espn still hasn't done anything for the sport. I decided I wanted to keep track of these things. Halfway through I figured, maybe other people are interested in this kinda thing, but it might be just me.
Minirant over, anyways here it is! It's still WIP and I've only gotten the first 5 conferences done but am going to continue throughout the week. This first link will be a google sheets to the ncaa standings, similar to espn's site, then you can click on any team with a link to bring yourself to the conference standings and schedule for each team in the conference! If I have made any mistakes, please let me know so I can fix them. I am aiming to have this be helpful, so any corrections are appreciated as I will be updating as the results come in tonight! If you aren't watching anything else, the sec/acc showdown is going on today and tomorrow and there are some good match ups, well tomorrow I guess lol since I'm posting here late as I didn't realize y'all had a subreddit!
Also, shout out to the golden hurricane for being on a 7-0 start! Y'all should definitely be ranked. Especially with the win over Creighton!

It's time for the final preview of the 2026 offseason. I can't imagine a better way to close the series than to talk about how KC Keeler is bringing Temple TUFF back!
📌 QB competition is still open at this point, Temple has a couple transfers battling it out
📌 RB Sam Brown V, WR Collin Chase & TE Peter Clarke all have single digits. Peter Clarke is especially a guy to watch, he could be the best TE in CFB
📌 Temple's defense has some good experience back. There's especially a lot to like on the backend. This secondary especially with the addition of Saboor Karriem could excel
What are your predictions for the Owls in 2026?

Charlotte enters year 2 of the Tim Albin era looking for a spark. The 49ers have a proven commodity as their coach but they are still trying to climb.
Full Preview attached, here's some key highlights
📌 QB competition is wide open. Conner Harrell was solid before getting hurt, Grayson Loftis returns and Cole Gonzales is an exciting addition
📌 Charlotte LOADED up at receiver, the pass game will excel but how about the rest of the offense?
📌 There's some promising parts on the front end of the 49ers defense, but how will an unproven secondary shake out?
What are your predictions for the 49ers in 2026?
