Boys of the Blue Hill" on solo acoustic mandolin
Here is a quick take on the classic Irish hornpipe "Boys of the Blue Hill" on solo acoustic mandolin.
Recorded raw with no pickups or amplification—just the natural acoustic resonance and wooden tone of the instrument. I’m focusing on clean plectrum articulation and keeping that hornpipe bounce steady.

"Red Haired Boy" (Solo Mandolin)
Sharing my latest solo recording from the Acoustic Crossroads series: a journey connecting Celtic heritage to American roots through the classic fiddle tune "Red Haired Boy".
A raw, single-take acoustic session highlighting natural right-hand dynamic control, plectrum clarity, and the organic voice of the instrument.

Ember June – "Velvet and Venom" (new single)
Out today: "Velvet and Venom," a reclamation anthem from Ember June.
Soft to the touch, lethal underneath — elegant on the surface, venom where it counts.

The amount of folks that this concept is over their head is wild.🤭 Jesse Welles was entirely tongue-in-cheek when he credited God for his song "The Great Caucasian God". The remark—featured in the intro-

black mountain rag
First brought to prominence by fiddler Arthur Smith and later cemented in the traditional canon by Doc Watson, this piece demands relentless rhythmic drive, precise syncopation, and clean plectrum control.
The core artistic principle remains uncompromising: 100% acoustic and unamplified. No pickups and no synthetic processing—allowing the natural attack of the pick, the harmonic resonance of aged tonewood, and the organic breathing room of steel strings to speak for themselves.

Felice County Fair!
Is awesome, love how some of these artists reimagined these amazing songs. Phoebe Bridger’s version of Life in the Dark almost made me cry, and Swamp Dogg made Special Announcement his own.
Others are very nice renditions similar to the originals, which are fun to listen to, but immediately make me want to listen to the originals because they’re better 😂
Overall, great celebration of an amazing band and a reminder of how good Ian’s songwriting is.

White '64 Tempest - Single
White ‘64 Tempest is a deeply reflective, acoustic-driven folk track that wraps the listener in a melancholic, late-night atmosphere. With its raw, weary vocals and intimate storytelling, the song was created for those who love authentic Americana.

Who is the Modern Day Emmylou Harris?
Just had an Emmylou song come on and got to wondering...who is following in her footsteps today?
I know and love some of the work by a few women who may or may not be in the running... SG Goodman and Amanda Shires come to mind.
Was wondering what others thought, and possibly find some new good music in the process.

Sainte Anne's Reel
I’m an independent musician and creator of the Acoustic Crossroads project, dedicated to living traditional repertoires (Celtic, Irish, Bluegrass, and French-Canadian) on acoustic mandolin.
My artistic focus is 100% handmade, organic sound—no synthetic shortcuts, just the raw resonance of wood and driving acoustic picking.

Feliz Navidad"
In this new live session from the Acoustic Crossroads project, I took on José Feliciano’s holiday standard "Feliz Navidad" in a completely solo acoustic arrangement.
The challenge here was to capture the driving rhythmic bounce and festive spirit while keeping the tone grounded in traditional acoustic craftsmanship: clean plectrum attack, dynamic right-hand rhythm, and the natural resonance of aged tonewood. Recorded purely acoustic—no pickups, no synthetic processing.
