Random 🔥 First time solo travel

Hey guys! Embarking on my first solo trip and going to Amsterdam Oct 29th-31st.

I'm super super nervous about travelling alone but also super excited. I plan to go all out and have fun for the first time since a very rough patch i've had and what better place than Amsterdam?

My idea of fun is gonna be smoke as much as heavenly possible. I have my eyes on those Gastronaut Donuts ;)

Any suggestions for quieter coffee shops I could maybe sit down solo for a couple hours with a milkshake and play some mobile games without judgment?

I'll also be looking to hit up some bars for drinks, preferably some lgbt friendly ones, open minded to everything though! Bonus points for weed friendly bars!

I like rock/metal, gaming, football etc so any suggestions you guys have for a semi serious solo traveler I'd really appreciate it!

tl;dr - - Suggestions for coffee shops/weed friendly bars comfortable and safe for solo travellers

If you like rock/ metal go to excalibur.

If you're still there on the 31st I'm going alone that day. I'll buy you a beer. DM me when you're there

Boerejongens, Abraxas, Bulldog are fun and pretty chill.
You can also just buy some bud and go chill by the canal or go to Vondelpark, that's always a vibe.

For fun things to do - Go to Belushi's, it's a bar in the ground floor of the St. Cristopher's Inn Hostel, book yourself a bar crawl, go roam around in the red light district at night, get a canal tour (they have smoking ones also where you basically can smoke throughout the journey)

Kashmir has a coffee shop and a bar across the road. Or Barneys has a bar and coffeeshop

Enjoy you'll have a great time I promise. I'm about to go on my second solo visit. I was nervous for my first too but Amsterdam is very solo friendly. Quite coffeeshops wise id suggest venturing a little bit out of the centre and be aware of what time you visit but some shops that I have had pretty much to myself at times are:

  • Solo (no pun intended) : area is very quiet and it was really chilled inside
  • Rookies : can get a little busy but early/late it's quite enough to have plenty of space between groups
  • The store : very small but often quiet and nice and cosy. Near some more popular spots so often less busy.
  • Easy times 2 (aka Queer Easytimes) : great chilled vibe as it's in the gay village but can get a little busy at times. If you get the table by the window upstairs it's great.
  • relax : can be busy at peak times but I've often turned up to find just a couple of others there and staff are very nice.

But if you really want the shop to yourself just go early as possible. Pretty much every morning I'm there I'm sat with max 2 other people even in the most popular shops.

I don't drink much but bars wise I can recommend the Amsterdam genetics lounge/bar. Very chilled and nice people watch potential out the window or sat outside. I had a CBD hot chocolate and a milkshake there that were pretty nice.
