I've seen some people call vocaloi/voice synths AI, most probably cuz they don't know abt voice synths and vocaloid

Neuro ain't a vocaloid but I'm fairly certain she technically has a system that's similar to SynthV or UTAU for when she sings (ain't sure which one it's actually similar to). Still not a SynthV herself but she has a bank that's reminiscent of it

Is Vocaloid a brand name for a specific product or a general term for similar stuff? (I thought it was the former, but I'm not sure)

Voice Synth is the general term, Vocaloid is just a specific group of synths. Teto for example is not a vocaloid.

You could say vocaloid is collective term of voice synthesizer.

Regardless, Neuro isn't a voice synthesizer.

a little bit of context for ones thinking this comparison come out of nowhere.

Toxic Gossips Train by SnappyDoodled has this part where Teto mentioned a extended list of vocaloids, the last one being mentioned is Neuro.

so naturally, some people would point out that Neuro isn't really a voice synthesizer like vocaloid, and more casual commenters would ask what exactly the difference.

It still feels very out of nowhere that you'd be posting about it here. It's not like this sub or anyone in it had anything to do with those people being confused, and it doesn't seem likely either that you'll be clearing up any of it for them by posting here.

I've always felt that vocaloid and vtuber cultures were spin-offs of anime culture. Its just a vibe though, so IDK how much others would agree.

I do agree with that. I'm not saying that the vocaloid and vtuber themes are off-topic for this sub. I'm saying that it's weird that OP thought it would be useful to come to this sub to explain a confusion that happened in some random stream elsewhere.
