Release AnkiDroid 2.25.2 Changelog
...aaaaand we're back! Google has officially blessed our releases and allowed them out in the wild again after our donation link kerfuffle. In fact, literally millions of you (nearly 3 million and counting) are already on the new 2.25 release series.
For any of you that have opted in to crash reporting, thank you! That's one of the main ways we detect new problems, and your reward is this fresh batch of fixes.
Enjoy!
General releases will be rolling out:
- Play Store (don't forget to give us a rating!)
- F-Droid
- GitHub - Parallel Builds for Multiple Profiles
We're about to get started on getting donation links back in the app. In the meantime, thank you for any and all support: https://opencollective.com/ankidroid πππ

Hi Does AnkiDroid 2.25.2 already include the improved AnkiDroid directory support?
I have many audio files in my cards that I've wanted to edit for a long time, but I tried changing the AnkiDroid directory and couldn't get it to work.
I think the AnkiDroid folder should be located by default alongside the other folders in internal storage, outside the Android folder, so users can easily access, edit, and delete their audio files.
I believe this is a very important feature that should always be available by default, because many users need and rely on easy access to their media files. It shouldn't be a feature that disappears or becomes unavailable.
Has this been implemented in version 2.25.2? Thanks!

The AnkiDroid directory feature is improved in 2.26: https://github.com/ankidroid/Anki-Android/releases/download/v2.26.0alpha5/AnkiDroid-2.26.0alpha5.parallel.A.apk
Google Play forbids us from using your internal storage these days. The linked APK is off the Play Store and should work

Wow, I can't believe it! I installed AnkiDroid 2.26.0alpha5 on another phone, created a few notes, and actually managed to change the AnkiDroid folder to a location I can access!
Now I'm going to back up my collection and try exporting my decks and importing them into this version. Hopefully, everything goes well!
I really hope this will be possible in the Google Play version too. Being able to access and edit our audio files easily makes such a big difference.
Thanks so much to the AnkiDroid team for all the hard work. It's great to see you listening to users and making things better!

Thanks!!!
It's not. Hard Google restriction. They made us migrate away from external storage a few years ago.
Get the app on F-Droid and you're sorted long term.
I want to make the "global" storage model on F-Droid optional, but it'll remain accessible
