What is Boden? I don't understand what's happening here, lol!

u/MollyRolls 1d ago
It’s a clothing company. Apparently they’re personalizing their spam and trying to spin it as a cutesy story.

u/The_sea_is_my_dream 1d ago
It's an English clothing company whose target are middle class youngish mumsy women.
And you wouldn't be able to buy much for $25 anyway!

u/MrsFeatures 1d ago
Pff, what are you talking about?? $25 at Boden could get you probably two ENTIRE socks!

OMG LOL! I thought it was for a book. I'm thinking, the plot seems a bit thin, but there must be more to it. Flyer says, "a novel offer." Yup, I totally got book out of this.🤦♀️

I graduated 30 years ago, and I passed some shirts down to my daughter from high school. Companies vastly underestimate just how thrifty I am. 😆

“Return to sender”

u/HellsTubularBells 1d ago
No return service on bulk mail unless it states "return service requested", you're basically telling your letter carrier "here, you throw this away for me".

u/Competitive_Pin5846 1d ago
Thank you for this public service announcement!
Edit: OP, write the company a personal letter telling them not to fucking write you anymore.

I had success calling each company to be removed from marketing lists. It got too overwhelming though, so I switched to using the lifetime subscription of the PaperKarma app. It was super efficient comparitively. This is maybe the only app purchase consumption/ tool I can get behind. Using capitalism against capitalism?!

I received this as well, but I have to spend $75 to get the $25 off.

So much saving! So low low price.
I always think these are JCpenny Economics.

Yes, Boden, I've been wearing the same clothes for ever because it's hard to find ones that fit people with boobs, something you as a retailer apparently do not believe exist.

Jarring to see as a fellow Elizabeth. Also I’ve been wearing my clothes since highschool over a decade ago lmao so it’s fitting 😭

The best offer on the mailer is that shows the recycle logo. It's daring you to use it.

Well, this is local. Or is Boden national?

They have your info so you purchased from them before?
9
u/inky_cap_mushroom 1d ago
Not necessarily. They can get info from all sorts of places.

When I order online, my first name is the first letter of my name, then the company. When they whore out my information, I can easily see who did it and call them out on it.
…Yes, I know what you did with my info, Vermont Country Store!!!

Genius. I almost never order online so thankfully I don’t get much in the way of junk mail (comparatively, I still get a lot but not as much as relatives who order online constantly) but there is an online home decor retailer that I swear must have gotten my name from the mortgage records because I got an ad with “current resident on it” the first week I bought my house and the next ad I got had my legal name on it. I bet whoever came up with that marketing strategy got a raise.
I know better but I still had the thought “well I do need a rug..” before I came to my senses.

That is insulting in the extreme I would mail it back with an expletive filled demand that they remove me from their mailing list.

Can’t wait until the era of personalized jeans ads in real time à la Minority Report! Should be about 3 years from now…

u/Miscanthrope 6h ago
AAAAH! EEEEW! So… entirely out of the blue, this company used your actual name in the ad body constructing a story around you buying something from them!?
No. Nope. Absolutely not. Kill it with fire. I need a shower.
God that’s gross and somehow violating.

Raise your hand if you've been personally victimized by Boden Spam Mail! I haven't, but solidarity.
