Donât forget the Walton Heiress who drove over and killed a lady while driving drunk and who wasnât even charged (Alice Walton). Didn't you hear! Tesla has it's own insurance to insure these fucking jokes. Just like the cyber fuck, you can get the same "insurance" through the illegal immigrant that's trying to tamper with the elections, yet again.
The same Nazi saluting piece of absolute human garbage that said he would donate 6B if he got a concept drawn up to end world hunger.
Oh cool, you can make a bulletproof dumpster, and a flying piece of shit, but can't invest in ending world hunger.

I mean, the whole system is insane and makes no sense. It serves no purpose and adds weight to the car making it less efficient.
Like, is there anyone who looks at that and doesn't see it as some bizarre gimmick to just drive up attention for their brand?
It's a marketing stunt in the most literal sense of the word.

It doesn't even do that. They remove the car and replaced it with the propulsion system. It's just the shell of a car on top to make it look like a car.
Motherfucker and his engineers could be creating things that actually help humanity but they're doing bullshit gimmicks like this instead.
3
u/Historical-Cress8985 8h ago

Yeah, this is either to try and recover some stock valur that hemorrhaged after the whole world saw that Musk is a nazi, or he's going to try to absorb Tesla as some robotics subdivision of SpaceX and this little stunt is the first step down that road. This car isn't road legal anywhere, and it's not meant to be. It's meant to do what it's doing already, distract people and entice the gullible, which is what Musk actually knows how to do.
20
u/HingleMcCringle_ 8h ago
Capitalism wouldn't even let you own one.
the government owns the sky. you'll need to abide by the same standards as any pilot, if you can get in a craft that can fly.
this is the same as those things where people put turbine engines on the back and wrists to fly around. sure it exists, but the limits on it make it a paperweight.

Capitalism would let you own one, even encourage it. It's social responsibility to each other that stops absurdly dangerous stuff like this because we recognize that it's dangerous for everyone. Capitalism is about profit not social well-being so if a large enough group want something the capitalists will provide it even at the detriment of the entire planet. What aspect of capitalism do you think would stop this from being sold?

It's basically a lunar landing craft by thrust design packaged in a car form. The amount of fuel needed to do that short demo was basically all the fuel. We have a specific gravity that requires anything that has mass a lot of thrust to change direction in that fashion. And the fuel is most of the mass
It's a sham... Elon thought, he was being clever again to raise capital for his bullshit... And his sycophants ate it up like flys at a shit eating competition.
Isn't AI supposed to find a way for energy efficient anti-gravity flight? With emissions that actually pull CO2 from the atmosphere...
Wow. Shit is getting so dumb.

I hate this is going to be seen as defending a pedophile, but I need to correct you a bit here.
It was a test flight of the Falcon Heavy rocket, they needed a significant payload because a payload of nothing doesn't really prove anything. They could have done concrete blocks with a metal cladding to hold them together, but imagine you are the top of both the company making the rocket and a company that makes something that basically everyone needs (cars in this instance). Marry the two together as a publicity stunt, boom it's the kind of advertising you can't help but take advantage of.
If Tesla was a household appliance company then the payload could have been an oven/stovetop range, an upright refrigerator, and a chest freezer. Fill the internal voids with concrete, weld all doors shut, obviously don't have any lubricating oils or refrigeration gas. Maybe also have a washer and dryer in there too. Boom you spent maybe 2000 dollars in product, use defective ones that did not pass Q/A, another few thousand or two in concrete, and that's extremely cheap advertising.
As for into the sun, no, it's in orbit around the sun, it goes out around as far as Mars, and it has a small chance to crash into Venus (less than 3%) or back into Earth (about 6%) at some point in the next three million years.

That was not an invention, thrusters being used to slow down falling objects is nothing new and it was called a "flying car" for marketing purposes only, it will never be a flying car. It is just another attempt by Elon to keep the public and investors believing that his big, world changing creation is right around the corner, like he's been doing for 15 years, becoming ever richer and directly making everyone's lives worse. I have to try not to roll my eyes back into my skull when I see shit like this

2
u/csprofathogwarts 10h ago
It's not fake. The technology involved is nothing new. The upside-down driving using powerful vacuum fans have been demonstrated before (McMurtry SpĂŠirling in April 2025).
The thrusters are all small sounding rocket technology. They just used compressed nitrogen rather than fuel. This one has not been used before in cars - because it is pointless. It will never be in consumer vehicle (not even for the rich buyers). They used a COPV (carbon fiber + plastic composite) and filled it with N2 at 630 atm pressure (10,000 PSI). COPV offers little penetration protection. A little bump at the wrong angle - and it will pop like a balloon but with the energy of a bomb.
4
u/yeahsotheresthiscat 18h ago edited 17h ago

Yeah there's nothing about the stunt that's not perfectly reasonable for a specialized piece of equipment to do. It doesn't need to be faked. It looks weird but it's a stripped out car sticking to a track with suction and RCS thrusters doing what RCS thrusters do. That doesn't mean there will ever be a real production car that does that.

I am 90% certain that the car had no driver and that the interior is filled with propellant. I bet you would t be able to even fit a human inside the one that they showcased, and anybody who says they looked at the inside were probably shown a different machine than the flying one.
If the event showed a car without such heavily tinted windows and a passenger who opened the door and got in, buckled themselves in and then rode along with the car and had it do those stunts, then maybe i would be impressed.
But to me, what we saw was not a car. It was a spacex reaction control system mounted to barebones electric car chassis and dressed up like a tesla.

I'm an Elon hater, Tesla skeptic, and overall liberal socialist commie scum, however, I think that at a base child-like level this is actually cool and fun.
The same arguments can technically be made for any sports car, especially hyper cars. As a utilitarian mode of transportation, a Rav4 Hybrid or Ford Maverick are surely the epitome of pragmatic transportation. But cars as toys are fun and stroke the imagination, which I think is important as humans.

I'm a pedo enjoying conservative republican Trump knob licker but even I like this car. You have to have a level of whimsy when exploring the world and all it has to offer. For real. I remember from like 2016-2018, Elon Musk was idolized across Reddit. Many comments across multiple subs about how Elon was paving a better future.
Iâd even say up until and even after the pandemic I noticed Elonâs fanbase pretty strong. I had a coworker in 2021 ask me why I did not care for Elon Musk.
People legitimately saw Elon Musk as some sort of techno savior that would make the future of humanity better.
Been interesting to see this shift. Guess Elon had a lot of people fooled, despite being a billionaire

This is not some tiny step forward in science, its an engineering gimmick. Every ten years someone builds a flying car and says its the future. The problem people actually had with cars early on in their production was that they where dangerous, and drivers expected too much catering too. The fear was that cars becoming more and more normal would make it dangerous to be out on the street as a normal person walking about your day. This is exactly what happened, society literally warped itself to cater to cars, something we are still struggling to undo in even the smallest ways.
Now imagine that, but it's every possible later of the sky.
4
u/Vindhjaerta 7h ago
We don't need flying cars. We need less cars if anything.

And are taking pre orders. Which is idiotic lol.

This is the classic Tesla cycle
First you announce an implausible product with an unrealistic price.
Then you move it back to 2032. And remove the thrusters while raising the price 40%
When it actually ships in 2033 itâs going to be double the price with none of the actual features promised at the announcement.
But seriously what is the practical use for those thrusters? The down force could be practical for a faster car but the actual wall climbing and driving upside down would be a regulatory nightmare.

âWe have created fully autonomous self-driving cars. Preorder yours todayâ
car is released with none of these features available but a promise itâs coming soon
âWe have created cars that use air thrusters to do acrobatics. Preorder yours todayâ
sell your car that never got self-driving so you can do a front flip ahead of traffic
Sadly they will launch without these features, but donât worry they will come soon afterÂ

Yeah, and they also took preorders for the Roadster back in 2017 and it still hasn't entered production. Taking preorders doesn't mean anythin

LOL. They announced the last one in 2017 with a 2020 production date. Tesla admits this is not a production model.... they don't even know what material they will make the body from, which means they are super far from production -- and, of course, there's the problem with a device than can make a very large explosion right behind the driver.
And the version with rear thrusters was listed as not street legal, if they ever even make any of them.
The real reason for the thrusters is to distract us from the fact that Elon promised over 600 miles of range on a single charge.... and this new car does half that.

They announce a lot of stuff that doesn't happen.
And whatever goes into production isn't going to include the cold gas propulsion. That's dead weight with no sensible use case.

This feels like a monster truck feature stunt. That feels like the beginning and the end of its usefulness.

How much of the internal Volume is occupied by the gas tanks and pumps and computers that control the nozzles?
Looked kinda cool tho.
Elmo is still a pedophile, election meddling, dictator worshipping, cringy loser tho.

you can jump over a tree that is on a roadway

u/TintedApostle 10h ago
You know how many people canât even drive right now? This would be a danger on the road because of morons who do risky stuff.
2
u/BlueWater321 9h ago
You can get a truck winch at harbor freight for a few hundred dollars, or a chainsaw, and when you move the tree the next person can get past.Â

oddly people thought computers when first invented were pointless and wasteful but here we are. Everything is pointless and wasteful. Sports, racing, trucks, gaming in 4k with a 6000 gpu... most of the things you do in your day are wasteful in one way or another.

No one thought computers worthlessâŚ. They were expensive, but available. Flying cars have what value really?

u/Repulsive-Lie1 9h ago
Thatâs not even a flying car. Itâs a missile shaped like a car but there is no passenger cabin.

really love how people dont know history - IBM and DEC thought they were worthless to everyone person outside of the govt.
"There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in their home," stated by Ken Olsen at a 1977 World Future Society convention. In an earlier 1974 internal meeting, he similarly remarked, "I can't see any reason that anyone would want a computer of his own"
IBM - 1943 - "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers"

The use of this tech in a car is worthless yes. But the tech itself is incredible. Technology is developing at light speed and this is a great example.
7
u/tortoiseupatreeagain 10h ago
It's not new technology though, its literally just compressed air released through nozels. Don't deify this grifter.

People keep saying this is useless but what if you get stuck upside down or in a ditch or a sinkhole emerges, literally any kind of natural disaster/freak accident. this thing is saving your life hands down. yall are TOO QUICK TO HATE.

u/TintedApostle 10h ago
What happens to the compressed gases in a collision? Oh right it helps eject you from the car at 20Gs thus saving you the trouble of living another day.
