Ads/Marketing Save on your “eletric” bill

Post image

YouTube is a treasure trove of the lowest level of advertising. This is my inaugural post of absolute shameful marketing that makes it easy to not give in to the hype.

I’ve noticed reels with on-screen text will often include a typo. I feel like it’s to increase engagement

it's called engagement farming, and I've noticed it getting more and more common on facebook over the past couple years. Content creators have learned that they can make subtle mistakes or share a slightly unusual/controversial opinion, and hordes of people go in the comments to "correct" it. The commenters can feel so clever while the content creator profits off them.

I save seen typos in several different ads during games, where there is no engagement.

Engagement from people who are susceptible to being scammed.

No different than the Nigerian Prince emails of 15-20 years ago.

Anything related to the military strips any trust I may have had

I don't know what they're shilling, but I will say that having solar panels on my roof and therefore almost never having to buy electricity is pretty neat.

Do you have a battery for the evenings?

Yes. 5.76 kWh. It's more than enough for all the electricity consumption at night for now, even if we keep the dishwasher or dryer run at night. I have only had all of this since summer - I am not sure if it will be enough to cover the entire night in winter because that's much longer. We'll see.

But is it “space-age technology”?

At least it's an old fashioned filmed scam, most of the scammy shit being sold on there now is generative AI bullshit. Yes, I'm so impressed with your exercise program if you can't even bother to cast real people to show how well it works.

I don't know what the hell is going on, But the quality of YouTube ads over the past handful of years has fucking plummeted, to the point where I will see blatant AI generated scam ads and ads full of stuff that would probably be banned from YouTube if it was uploaded as a normal video more often than well known big brands. I guess YouTube just figured they can take money from whoever they want, and nobody is gonna stop them or sue them
