Hood vent. Is this working or not?

Redid kitchen.

Kitchen contractor turned out to be scum.

Now I don’t know if this is working or not…? Doesn’t seem to be sucking at all on the outside, but if I open it up, might be sucking air in on the inside…. But not sure?

Can an expert please please chime in ?

Better to use some smoke rather than a tissue

Put that last filter in there and see what happens. Currently all the air is taking the path of least resistance through the space of the missing filter so I would expect to have your outcome

Does seem like it. Is there a duct above the hood?
