Will Kazakhstan ever stop being a natural resources Colony for the West and China? 😅
Literally everyone digging our lands and taking resources for a cheap 😅
Sad moment for a country. Already sold our oil fields in 1990's for nothing but peanuts...And now this.

Saudi Arabia managed to return all the oil in state ownership in the matter of like 20 years.

Awareness about this issue should be spread to Kazakhs in their own language. Telling people on Reddit in English and Russian isn't going to change anything ever. We can just be like oh that's too bad

Look at South Korea and Japan, USA has done so much for. They gave up a little bit of sovereignty but who cares. They got money.

Japan and South Korea are in a rapid population decline due to rampant capitalism and competition

First, you must build your own factories, then produce goods and sell them. Of course, by that point, you might well ask: when will Kazakhstan finally escape its fate of being reduced to a colony of productive resources for the West and China?

They can try to do what Kyrgyzstan did which was nationalize their resources and take the initial hit from being severed from many MNCs but if they do so for their Uranium they could get invaded or have a coup coincidentally happen. Not advocating anything just thems the geopolitics

BS. The table for 1985-1989. Kazakhstan wasn't a dotational region, unlike the Caucasus and the baltic states.

Remove the space and add the dot. After pikabu

The source is given. It's a Russian newspaper that didn't have any reason to put Kazakhstan in good light.

There was a table for the decades before 1985, but I couldn't find it as it doesn't fit in the Russian narrative. Why am I gonna believe your explanation tho? Kazakhstan was giving more than receiving til 1990, I stand corrected, not til 1985

Isn't it interesting if Kazakhstan was giving more than receiving than why did it's economy suddenly stop after USSR? Almost like it was dependent on Russia.

False. Kazakhstan always give more than they took. Just look at the states doing right now. Kazakhstan is one of the leaders with the highest GDP per capita.
Also Kazakhstan used as nuclear polygon field for thousands of nuke explosions and artificial hunger back in early 1930's

Actually Kazakhstan was used nuclear field polygon and source of natural resources.
Most of Soviet Nuclear explosions were detonated in Kazakhstan. Especially in Semey nuclear polygon.
Also Baikonur cosmodrome.
And I am not tslking about atificial hunger caused by Soviet collectivisation during late 1920's and early 1930's

Oil fields got divided up by Nazarbayev’s people, rare metals now get divided by Tokayev’s people.
