What do we think of Katie Zachariah getting fired?

After what was quite possibly the shortest tenure ever, our new White House press secretary had been fired. Good riddance, she never should have been hired in the first place. I’m wondering if the president actually believed she was a lawyer and fired her when he found out it wasn’t true? Or if he fired her when everyone else found out it wasn’t true and didn’t want us to know he co-signed her lie?
Funny as hell either way

She wasn’t fired, Trump gave her the ok to leave after he saw the press mistreat her.

•

u/svensterbod Conservative 8h ago

She got fired because she's a bozo. She is a terrible liar, misrepresented herself, embarrassed Trump, cannot speak past a 5th grade reading level and then goes and blames everyone but herself for her poor performance.

"it was my first press conference, i was unprepared, i didnt have enough information"

Bro, she's an adult? Over the age of what, 40? Married with kids and she wants to not take any accountability? "I was unprepared"

Then you get fucking prepared. The fact you need to try and make excuses for these women is absolutely hilarious.

•

u/sokolov22 Left Libertarian 7h ago

To be fair, her boss and most of the people he surrounds himself with also doesn't take accountability. Why shouldn't it work for her?

•

Outrage from the left when Katie said she’s a lawyer. She did earn a Juris Doctor JD (professional law degree) from Pepperdine’s Caruso school of law.
Her professional background includes international corporate law in Beijing China.

Why is that any different than Abdul El-Sayed claiming he’s a doctor, but has no medical license and never treated a patient?

•

u/Minute_Marzipan_6844 Center-right Conservative 2h ago

I just looked it up and he has a MD making him a doctor but not a physician. I thought the same went for Katie but she recently admitted she’s not a lawyer. Who knows?

Her professional background includes international corporate law in Beijing China..

Did you see that the Chinese lawfirm she worked at made public comment and confirmed that foreigners arent allowed to practice law in China, and when they do hire foreigners they're just used to navigate language barriers and culture norms, and she was essentially doing the work of an intern?

Did you also see that she has on her LinkedIn that she was general council of a California non-profit which would 1000% require her to act as a liscenced attorney?

She was a hilariously bad hire, and im actually impressed tgat the Trumo admin recognized that and cut their losses so quickly.

What do you think this statement means?

Also, what's your response to her claiming to he the general council for a non profit in California?

•

u/mrjcall Conservative 12h ago

Not much really. It was obvious from her 1st news conference that she was uncomfortable in the role and not truly suitable. Sometimes it is necessary to have the experience and then make the adjustment. No big deal either way, but it is unfortunate that it was a false start. Some will make a big deal over this, but it truly is not. Just one of those things that has to be experienced to understand.

•

u/Kimoppi Center-left 7h ago

I feel for her, honestly. Beginning a job and realizing that you are not as suited for it happens, and it can feel terrible. It's embarrassing for all involved. She just did that on an international level. Hundreds of millions, if not billions, of people around the world are likely laughing at her.

Firstly damn just 5 days that was fast but I think this is a good lesson for everyone if this DEI hire can become pre-secretary what’s stopping you from living your dreams lol

•

u/Winstons33 Republican 13h ago

I'm against DEI as much as anybody... But if there's a lesson here, it's that a person hired because they're attractive (clearly the case here) is about as negligent as any DEI based hiring.

•

u/WestCoastCompanion Center-right Conservative 13h ago

Yes. I mean the purpose isn’t diversity but he’s clearly hiring based solely on appearance and sycophantic ideology. What happened to Mr Meritocracy? lol

•

•

u/WestCoastCompanion Center-right Conservative 8h ago

Agree, but there’s gotta be more to it than that

•

u/11EmeraldEyes11 Conservative 8h ago

So is it just anyone who you don’t like is a DEI hire? It’s obvious Trump doesn’t hire on the basis of DEI. He certainly has a type for his WHPS. In fact given that, maybe a little diversity from his type wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Yes, I don't think he knew she wasn't actually a lawyer (and that's his fault for not vetting her). I also think she was put on Hannity specifically to get grilled at Trump's request so her firing wouldn't come as much of a shock to the fox news crowd. She was terrible and deserved to get fired. How it took them this long to find someone and that's who they cone up with is beyond me.

u/LonelyMachines Classical Liberal 19h ago

It always has. I can go down a long list of boneheaded hiring decisions. And the turnover is ridiculous because the guy in charge governs by whim and impulse.

I was complaining about Pete Buttigieg's performance as Transportation Secretary back in the day. I have tons of experience in the field, and someone asked me (hypothetically) if I'd take the job under Biden.

Sure. It's not all that political, and I'd be serving the public, not necessarily the guy in the Oval Office.

Then, turn the question around. Would I serve in the position under Trump? Hell no. I could do the best possible job. I could improve things. But the minute something out of my control goes wrong, or the minute he just has a fit of pique, and I'm out.

And I'm not just out. It's all over Truth Social and Fox that I'm low energy. Total failure. Bad for America. LOSER!

No thanks. I can only imagine how toxic of a workplace the Trump administration is behind the scenes.

•

u/Shawnj2 Progressive 13h ago

Buttigieg was okay as transportation secretary, I think he did okay. Much better than Sean Duffy is doing now lmao and the last Trump pick was Mitch McConnell’s wife as a political favor.

When the harbors were clogged with ships during the post-Covid period, Buttigieg didn't even make an appearance. The media went looking for him and found out he'd been out on paternity leave for a couple of weeks and nobody even knew.

When CSX was threatening to go on strike, nobody heard from him. President Biden had to handle it.

After a major train derailment happened in East Palestine, Ohio, he was also a no-show. He couldn't even take a day to go out there and make an appearance. Furthermore, his department proposed reducing the already-lax brake safety rules that led to the accident.

Just about anyone else would have been a better fit for the job.

I mean I didn’t say he was great but he pushed investments in transportation while Trump 2 has mostly been interested in defunding it.

•

u/LonelyMachines Classical Liberal 12h ago

He wasn't a legislator. Those were in the first major budget bill that had already been written.

A transportation secretary who calls bike lanes DEI is not someone serious about making transportation better in America https://www.npr.org/2026/07/16/nx-s1-5893672/dot-bike-lanes-speed-cameras-safety-measures

We're not talking about Duffy. If the best defense of Buttigieg is but the Trump guy is bad, it kind of makes my point.

•

u/Shawnj2 Progressive 11h ago

That is what I said, Buttigieg was okay but not great, Duffy is pretty garbage and neither party actually cares about transportation

This is the Trump administration's idea of correcting DEI hiring practices: hiring people solely "based on merit."

I wouldn't say it's just a priority. It's the only requirement. It helps if your a culture warrior too or a blond bimbo. That will get your resume to the top of the list.

I'm sad that she was fired after just 0.45 Scaramuccis. I was hoping she would last through the mid-terms and represent the Trump regime the way it should be represented. She fit right in with the conspiracy theorist running FBI, the brain-worm addled anti-science guy running DHS, and the boner-obsessed, Christian nationalist and part-time Fox News host running the Dept of WAR! We deserved a Q-Anon conspiracy theorist for a few more weeks, fawning all over Trump like a true cult member.

Just curious if you though Leavett was a blond bimbo?

•

She was actually competent.

Not a bimbo. Just a blonde sycophant.

By the way, as a blonde she fits right into the central casting. I remember seeing side by side photos of Obama’s summer interns and the Trump summer interns. Obama’s looked like a reflection of America (white, asian, Latino, black, etc.). Trump’s was a crowd blonde white kids. Nothing wrong with being blonde and white, but it tells you a lot about Trump’s mentality.

She was much more competent.

She definitely wasn't ready for prime time. Literally.

I mean. It happens. Sometimes a candidate looks great on paper but isn't great in reality.

Great on paper like lying about being an attorney?

•

u/GreatSoulLord Center-right Conservative 15h ago

She wouldn't be the first person to lie on a resume.

•

u/Minute_Marzipan_6844 Center-right Conservative 2h ago

Is that the bar?

•

u/Perfect-Resist5478 Center-left 15h ago

Sure… that doesn’t make her qualified and considering she’s applying to be the mouthpiece of one of the most powerful men in the world you’d think something as fact-checkable as “are you an actual attorney” wouldn’t be lied about. Most people who lie on their resume do so cuz they know they won’t be caught

•

u/GreatSoulLord Center-right Conservative 14h ago

I don't have enough information to be suitably outraged by this. For all I know this is an HR mistake.

Surely things like the made up credentials are exactly why these roles would (outside of the Trump administrations) always be thoroughly vetted. I get that Trump likes to buck traditional processes, but the lack of vetting seems to be an example of that really biting him (Again)

On paper..? There was no paper… they check my degree and credentials for my run of the mill engineering job. There was less background checking for the press secretary than my internship. what paper??

Holy shit, I just watched a short horror film on YouTube last night called "Remain Calm." It is only fifteen minutes long and had Pauly Shore and Doug Jones (my personal favorite) in it.

That fact that she looks like his daughter is now making me want to spork my eyes out.

What are the chances he made a pass at her and she declined?
