Meta Is this sub dead?
Every time it appears in my feed, it shows that there are comments, but when I open the link, all comments have been removed. Looking at the most "popular" post this month, and all comments have been removed. I'd love for this sub to exist, and have actual responses, but as far as I can tell no comments ever pass muster.

This is a highly moderated sub and a lot of replies (maybe even mine) do not meet the requirements and the comments get removed. This is a good thing.

Absolutely not “dead”! Questions simply require appropriately detailed and knowledgeable answers, thus maintaining a higher standard of answers than many other sub-reddits.
Here’s a post from 22hrs ago that I think should illustrate my claims.

I see a lot of posts that appear in my feed where I am interested in responses, but rarely see a post with comments. Maybe the best way to interact with this sub is not to subscribe, but rather visit it periodically and sort for the few submissions that run the gauntlet.

There's a sub called /r/historiansanswered which crossposts answered questions from this sub. Probably what you're looking for.

You can install the Browser Extension to get a better idea of how many comments are in a thread or use the RemindMeBot that is in the AutoModerator comment in every thread. You may also find the weekly Sunday Digest post helpful.

You gotta check for answers about a day after you initially see the post. It takes some time for good answers to be written out, quality takes time.
