Pokemon 30th anniversary

Hi everyone!

I’m currently visiting your beautiful city all the way from France 🇫🇷🇺🇸, and I’m hoping to find some Pokémon cards to bring back home for my daughter! 😊

Unfortunately, I’m only here until Saturday, so I was wondering if anyone had any tips on where to find them, when stores usually restock, or any local groups or communities that could help me out.

Any tips, tricks, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much in advance! 🙏

Activities First Timer: Krewe of Boo🎃

How long does the Krewe of Boo parade usually last? My family and I will be attending for the first time, and my parents are both around 60. Would you recommend bringing chairs, or is it manageable to stand for the duration of the parade?

Also, how generous are the throws? Should we expect to catch a decent amount of beads and other goodies, or is it more of a cute, fun parade to enjoy for the experience? I’d love to hear your tips for first-timers!

I didn't read the FAQ NOLA for NYE

My boyfriend and I are coming to visit NOLA with another couple for NYE! We are all 30 years old. We decided on NOLA as we want to explore a new city and are coming from Denver and DC. Would love any recommendations for food, coffee, drinks, etc.🥂 We are considering a few different NYE parties - all ticketed events with food and drink. We are not opposed to Bourbon Street but want a bit more of an organized experience so are willing to pay a bit more! Any recommendations welcome!

Girlfriend and I visiting later this week...how wild is Bourbon

The girlfriend and I are visiting later this week and staying through the weekend. I've been to NO before mid week for a business trip. She's never been. We are assuming outside of the French Quarter, it's fairly tame. Our question is how wild does/can Bourbon get on a Friday/Saturday night (non Mardi Gras)? Is flashing for beads a thing? Provocative clothing for women acceptable? How tame/wild (or not) is Bourbon Street and the French Quarter?

Questions for visiting this weekend

Hello excited to go to nola for my 2nd time (went during Xmas) but have some questions for halloween:

  • Will be going to the Krew of Boo Halloween Parade, it weird to go to dinner or jazz show afterwards in costume?
  • For Frenchmen St, do we have to just line up at a random jazz place or should we get tickets/reservation?

Can anyone tell me for sure how they brew at Cafe Du Monde?

For the cafe au lait, is it really just a drip brewer back there? Percolator? I can't get it to taste right. I've tried drip and french press. I will totally add a percolator to my coffee routine if I can get even close to the coffee there. Tysm! <3

Places to get some branded go cups.

I live in the Marigny but happy to check out any place with a cup. Talking about the standard Mardi Gras sized plastic go cups. I love them and eat my berries in them. Trying to build a collection. <3

24 hours in NOLA

Checking out a quick Christmas trip for my bf and I to NOLA. I’ve never been, he’s been a few times and loves it. Christmas Eve (arriving early afternoon) and Christmas Day (leaving early evening) so just over 24 hours in the city. Can it be done? Looking at the Lafayette between the FQ and garden district. Will this be close enough to walk to.. well, anything? I want Tips, Advice, Warnings. lol

Visiting after a year.. Is the Quarter still boarded up for construction? Decent mid-priced hotels with a gym?

Hi y'all. I'll be in town next week for a few days and would love some local advice. I've been going to New Orleans every few years for a long time, back in the day staying with friends, then cheap hotels, and last year, a lucky random deal at Monteleone.

Since I plan on stuffing my face with your amazingly salty, rich foods, haha, I want to stay at a place with a gym. It doesn't have to be a state of the art gym, but a nice place in the $150-250 range.

Most of these, I imagine, are in the Quarter, which is my ideal location.

My next question: last October, much of one or two streets was boarded up for construction on the road, making it dark and quiet to walk along at night.

Is that still the scenario? If so, I want to avoid hotels along that path, for my safety and comfort at night, as well as ease getting cabs.

I'd ask my friends, but they avoid the Quarter like the plague. Was it Royal or Decatur, further away from Canal St, around the French Market?

Furnished Finders (or similar) Experience

I am almost at retirement, and would like to spend the majority of it in New Orleans. I can't do full time because I want to stay close to the grandkids. I'm looking for some experiences with sites like Furnished Finders to figure out where I want to settle.

I have spent a good amount of time in the city, but I realize holiday and daily life are two completely different experiences. I don't do STR's, but would like a 3 to 6 month situation to really vet it properly.

Thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated

- Nectar + Ice in Metairie
- MSY
- CAVA in Metairie

I know it’s a long shot but srsly trying anything! thank you

Thank you!

Things to do Oct 22-24

Hi everyone, I'm visiting NOLA this week and wanted to know if there are any recommendations for things to do from Thursday, Oct 22 through Saturday, Oct 24. I'm staying in the Lower Garden District.

Given it's Halloween season, I'm hoping to find some quality experiences, events, or parties. But it doesn't have to be Halloween-related. Anything around music, food, arts, festivals, etc., that even the locals would be into, I want to know about. Appreciate any tips.

Alternatives to hotel parking!

I am planning a trip to NOLA where we will be driving from a few states away. We'll be staying in the French Quarter and while our hotel rate was reasonable, hotel parking is $$$!! Any recommendations for places to park outside of town with an easy-ish option to bus/uber to the French Quarter? Happy to pay for a park-n-fly type lot, just trying to avoid the wild hotel parking rate. Thanks for any ideas!!

Lodging Rental For Under $1000

It would be needed starting the end of October or beginning of November. Preferably not a roommate situation. Efficiency or property in the back of someone's home. Service dog would be there. Just for maybe a month right now. Room for two people in a safe area. Is that possible for this price?

There's a property in Holy Cross that keeps popping up in the MLS. It seems too good to be true. Has anyone ever looked at it? Holy Cross and Algiers are my favorite New Orleans neighborhoods. At a price like that there must be something going on
