What is a quiet realization you had about your life when you hit your forties or fifties that nobody talks about in your twenties?

You can't necessarily replace parts of your body when they break

I think that is exactly an example of this issue. I read an article about how people abuse their knees with high impact sports or whatever, and then get knee replacement surgery early in life and then keep doing the high impact stuff as if they are back to normal (rather than altering their lifestyle to low-impact sports etc). But eventually you damage too much of your knee and you cannot get endless knee replacements and you are left with constant pain and a walker, or worse.

Mine was destroyed from playing 8 years of football from grade school, middle through highschool. Then was on my knees during the summers roofing because construction companies were paying $5 an hour which was crazy good money when I was a teen..lol
