What's an incredibly petty reason you would refuse to date someone, even if everything else about them was perfect?

Being too religious. Which, I feel like being too religious in my case likely isn't even all that religious. Like, praying before meals, going to church every sunday, people who genuinely thank god when things go well rather than the people who actually improved the situation...

I get having beliefs. I get needing something to help you get through the rough times. But being non religious, I can't stand when people make it a big deal. Even more so when they start pushing their beliefs onto others.

This. I like to clarify this that I've been around many hyper religious people and they don't see others like humans with a rich life, diverse opinions and feelings but a conversion challenge.

And even if you both share a religion, they need you to live exactly what they believe in.

In the romantic side, many people don't want to give up on their partner because they believe a demon or an evil entity is manipulating them into breaking up and they can't genuinely believe that they've fallen out of love with them or that the other person has agency to decide that they don't love them anymore.

So, the relationship doesn't become about the couple but an entity that they need to beat down to prove they are strong in the eyes of God

I love being surrounded by people who are different from me, it feels so freeing. However if I say "Wow the weather is so nice today, look at those trees, is that a grey sparrow?!"

And their response is "God is really great, it baffles me how the lord makes stuff like this, how God made all of this, how he made us in his image to love and cherish and for us to look up to."

Like... I just wanted to talk to them about nature. A bit of religion talk is so fun and interesting, but I cant be around people (for dating or friendship) who makes everything about 1 thing, be that religion, politics, or science.

Yeah. At the end of the day, extremists from any group could just be the same for me. Like, I dislike anyone who makes their beliefs everyone elses beliefs, and if they can't, then you aren't worth "saving."

I've actually been told that I'm going to hell because I don't read the bible. And the guy was so polite about it that I didn't even realize exactly what he meant until later.

Like, these people convince themselves that they're the only ones in the right, and those who are wrong don't deserve anything. It's just so baffling to me to see an extremist at work.

I definitely find the concepts of it all interesting. But once you push certain boundaries, it quickly goes from interesting to annoying.

I really confused some people when I could keep up with the stuff they refrenced in the Bible (because I read the whole thing) or could somewhat get what they were saying about the Quran or other texts, and then say "yeah I am not a follower of your god".

So it gets weird with extremists even if you have read all the stuff they have. If you dont agree with them, it wont work past half a conversation. They sometimes get even stranger if I say that I am Pagan (Åsatru) as if its barbaric. Like hello have you read your own texts? Heard your own words?

People who dont really know the stuff they follow while also being extremists (even if calm about it) is just a double no-go for me.
