What's an incredibly petty reason you would refuse to date someone, even if everything else about them was perfect?

Giving the most general hot take on something with doing very little thinking or even attempting to look further into it.

That or talking about "the big current issue" with all the same parroted phrases and acting morally superior to everyone about it and a downright asshole if they disagree.

I wouldn't classify this as a petty reason to not date someone, I'd actually say it's the opposite of petty.

My ex was like this. He only wants to appear knowledgeable on all the current events happening. Except when his “stance” (just what he heard/read somewhere) is challenged, corrected, or disagreed with its full on defense mode of his self image and character instead. When the jig is up and shows he clearly doesn’t know the depth of anything beyond a headline he goes nuclear. Just a 36 yo child cosplaying as an adult because nuanced thinking requires self reflection, empathy, and understanding. Which is unfathomable to him. Add a little sprinkle of refusing to believe I could know more about something than him and you have a fresh baked EX. ol

Depends on what “the big current issue” is. If you don’t agree on, say, women’s rights or human rights, that’s kind of a dealbreaker, no?
